I played the above-mentioned clip in tribute to Skip and the end of my show, Sunday on B-92 Country (WBTR 92.1 FM). We are The Home of the Braves in West Ga. and East Al. and it is as if we lost one of our own. You can hear my tribute if you search B-92 Country (in Carrollton, Ga.) on the web and then go to "Personalities," find Doyle and follow the link to my MySpace page.
A lot of folks forget that what set that whole thing up was Atlanta blowing a 3-1 lead in the NLCS because Bobby Cox decided to go with a three-man rotation for the playoffs. I'm a Braves fan, and I cherish the moment, but it never should have come down to that. When he went with a 4-man in 1995, they won it all.
I would say though that the 3-man rotation of Glavine, Smoltz and Avery pitched well against Toronto. Rather it was Jeff Reardon who blew games two and three, the Braves bats being silenced by Jimmy Key in game four and the Jays bullpen outlasting the Braves in game six.
I agree.I have been a Atlanta sports fan since 1980.Being a Atlanta sports fan. There to say the least have been alot of AWFUL moments. But that had to be the start of what The braves have been through. That was a awesome moment for me.I was like jumping up and down. Those games vs the Pirates in 91 and 92 were just so intense.I tip my hats to both teams.I just wish there were more Braves moments posted on you tube.
I would love to see those clips, too. Unfortunately, every time there have been MLB clips posted here, MLB (or someone else) has demanded that they be taken off YouTube. Oh well; at least those knobs can't take away my VCR.
I don't think I'll ever get over that play. That's the day my childhood ended.
