May nakakaalam po ba kung bakit talagang ni-reconstruct yung simbahan? May narinig po ako mula sa mga kakilala kong kapampangan na dahil daw po sa baha kaya pinaayos yung simbahan pero bakit naman po kinailangang i-rebuild and buong simbahan? The old photographs stunned me a lot. I never expected it to be that charming and lovely. Nakalulungkot po na ipina-renovate nang husto yung simbahan.

Unfortunately, the most important visual archive of the town, the heritage church and the town citizens buried there (including the remains of town hero Monico Mercado), have been destroyed.

Hi Ivan! I couldn't agree with you more. That church had a Grotto; when you enter the church there was a baptistry to the right; the side facing the river was an open field covered in nearly white sand where the remains of certain people were buried along the wall; the chandeliers; the plaques inside the church of people who contributed to its constructions over the years. But it's never too late, we learn through our faults and mistakes.

Those Paintings of Images are Sts Mark, John, Matthew, Luke. They are placed in the 4-corners of the dome (see Sasmuan, Pampanga II Video 2:52)and they are 6'tall in height. Obra Maestra of Prof. Mariano "Mar" Panlaqui of Brgy. Sto. Tomas in 1950's and repainted in 2006 by Apung Anu at the age of 90 Y.O. Apung Mar "Anu" is the father of Mayor Abe Panlaqui and Mozart P. Panlaqui and Grandfather of Fatima P. Del Rosario owner of SASMUAN DELICACIES..

Sasmuan only has a population of about 30,000. Many of its residents have relatives working abroad as professionals. It's definitely possible for Sasmuan's sons and daughters to come together and transform the town for the better.

hi maf! thanks for watching..."sexmoan" was formally written as such in Spanish ortography; during that time, the hispanicized spelling of sasmuan did not denote today's perverted & malicious literal meaning; the person(s) who wrote the letter in the video spoke in spanish and capampangan; english slang did not even cross their minds which is unfortunate today...:)

anyway, this is an interesting research, as most filipinos or spanish speakers know, the "x" in spanish is pronounced as "ks" or sometimes "j" which is similar to the "h" sound and at times it is pronounced "sh"...i'm assuming the spaniard who formally baptized sasmuan as "sexmoan" simply pronounced it as "SESHMUWAN"
