I don't understand how people could find the automatic top more convenient . . . it's slower, and the soft top can be put down or up with one hand while sitting in the drivers seat. . . I would think the hardtop would be bad all around. You have to be some kinda lazy to like the hardtop : /

Granted, that automatic stuff has advanced technologically enough, to have a greater durability than the mechanical stuff... even if the repairs are more expensive or complex

You add 70lbs of weight, make it a lot slower going up/down (the soft top literally takes 2-3 seconds up or down), and lose the cool little area behind the seats. I like the reduced weight, increased speed, simplicity, and added cargo room of the soft top. These cars are meant to be driven with the top down anyway

@Fishyboiboi I disagree and agree with you. It's performance is beautiful but the MX-5's built after 2005 have gotten a little ugly looking from the outside in my opinion. However, I think that the MX-5's made before 2005 look absolutely beautiful from the outside.

doing a more powerful version would be going against what this car was designed to do, and it would just become a 370z wannabe.

My 93 NA is perfectly balanced, which is both good and bad. Good because at the limit it will simply 4-wheel drift...until you run out of asphalt. Then you have two choices...both bad. Accelerate and you will push off the track; let off and you will swap ends. Because of this, most racers set them up a little loose or tight. I prefer loose. Still the best handling roadster ever.

I think I had to replace a couple of wiperblades.

It may be underpowered, but you really can feel the rear wheels in the back of your pants on turns.

You simply can't go wrong with an MX5.

Also, don't forget the color when getting one - they look like cartoon cars in white, baby blue, etc.

But, in British racing green (mine) silver, yellow, metallic grey, etc. they look awesome and turn heads.

These cars will still be daily drivers 30 years from now. The only other vehicle as reliable was my '86 Ford F-150 w/300 I-6 and 4-speed.

The Mazda Miata MX5 is the best selling convertible in the world, try googling it. I own a MK2 with a hardtop and a soft top, best car i have ever owned. In New Zealand i think there are more women driving the Mazda convertibles than men, but really it doesn't matter who drives the car is suited for both. Its not the fastest and maybe not the best looking, however its super reliable and in the summer with the top down .... well its driving heaven.

Thank you, I own a 2006 mx-5 and have driven an s2000 for a few weeks and could easily point out what I like more about the S2, but for 10k more, you pay for what you get, AND pay get what you pay for. Lower an MX and throw an exhaust and Cold Air Intake for 8k less than an S2, and they are at least comparable. An SLK is nice, but you PAY for what you get....

I owned this truck called a Ford 'Courier' almost twenty years ago. It was the platform for the soon-to-be-released Ford 'Ranger'.

Make a long-story-short, both had Mazda 4 and 6-cylinder engines and are, and were, exceptionally well-engineered motors that NEVER DIE.

I could've gotten a BMW Z3 for the same price as my '97Miata, but the Miata was the better car.

A different badge on the front, yes. But that would also add to the price and most likely also make reliability suffer.

That's the kind of car that u don't realy need more power, but if you do, internal changes like Port n polish and valve job + a CAI would be enough imo.

The one thing that it really need imo is an H&R spring kit to drop that ride height and reduce body roll.

In europe most common cars are FWD, so I think that an RWD, 50:50 weight and with Limited Slip Diff (standadrd on hi-spec 2.0s) should not be girlie, as this is true sports car made for fun driving. If you want a girlie car take a green VW Beetle convertible, or a white Mini convertible
