@ShiftReality It took me a really long time to get to where I am now, don't despair, just keep drawing and you will improve! Go to the museum, try and copy the masters, when you do it yourself, you'll understand what you need to do. All the best of luck to you and thanks for the great comment!

@Ashstarrdanumba1 I'm so sorry, I think I misunderstood. I'm very grateful for your praise. To tell the truth I'm not too computer savvy either, it helps alot if you have a Wacom Digitizer though. With one of those it's very much like painting or drawing in real life. I love drawing on paper too, but the computer comes with a certain amount of freedom.. like the 'Undo' button. Something I sometimes miss in real life ;) Anyhow many thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching. Keep drawing!

@Ashstarrdanumba1 Many thanks, but I think you're missing the point. It's not about having too much time on your hands. I'm an illustrator I do this for a living.

So this is practice for me, AND I'm having alot fun doing it at the same time.

It's a hobby, I LIKE it - like people who like to play WoW or do sports.

Actually if you think this is spending a long time on a painting, this is nothing, a one-hour painting is really fast! Usully I spend weeks on a single painting.

Great job. Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, for the most part, it is ilegal to copy all or part of an image and sell it. Even if you you paint what was once a sculpture or sculpt what was once a painting. Laws are a bit off kilter. You may want to consult a lawyer about this just to make sure you are protected. ...or maybe you already have. Sorry to be a bringer of potentially bad news.

Very nicely done. Your technique is a bit unorthodox. I would suggest a sketch prior, rather than just painting in a base right away. It would allow to fix those minor placement and proportion issues. Other than that, a good painting.

how long did it take you to learn to use the program?

i can paint with a paintbrush and paint but i can't make a descente pice in photoshop to save my life D:

Not that long, if you know Photoshop - Painter is really easy to get to grips with. Photoshop can be learned in a few weeks, it's a BIG program and I discover new things all the time, but the basics can be learned in a short amount of time.

Well, if you can paint traditionally you have a big advantage already :D - you just need to learn the basic of Photoshop or Painter. Try a few tutorials :) and I'm sure you get the hang of it. Best of luck to you.

Sure you could do that, but a screenshot from youtube is going to be pretty bad resolution. You can't use a youtube screenshot for print, it's going to look absolutely horrible.

Furthermore it's not the same picture, I've put more than 10+ hours into removing the flaws evident in this vid, not to mention coulour correcting and general polishing.

You should check it out, it's QUITE different from what you see here :)

Yes I've painted quite a bit with acrylics. It's fun but I must admit i prefer the tablet, it's easier and quicker to get results. But I plan on painting more with real paint in the future.

Sorry dude, no it's not possible to get it for free, legally. You can however download a 30 day trial at corels website. It's not as expensive as Photoshop though. If you don't got a tablet, you can purchase a Wacom and you get 'Painter Classic' for free!
