I've seen one at an EV meet here in NJ. The Tesla Roadster has full torque on the get go since it has an electric AC motor. It doesn't shift gear like any gas car. No offense since I too own a Stealth, it will surely beat a VR4 or RT/TT on a drag strip.
This thing amazed me. First time i've ever seen an electric car in real life let alone one of this caliber.... It's just not that practical.. Top gear did a road test on a couple of these things and although they where fast, they leave much to be desired in reliability considering the price tag on them.......
@benderracer that was a few years ago, those reliability issues that were genuine are ironed out now. Top Gear is also being sued for lying about the brake failure and running out of charge.
Wait, do you not really know what a Tesla is? If not, here's a bit of info:
It's full name is the "Tesla Roadster", and the reason why that thing went a quick as it did is because it's a $109k car that goes 0-60 in 3.9 seconds!
oh, and I forgot to say that when its brake lights were on, chances are it wasn't actually braking but doing its "regenerative braking" - the car slows down the more you let up on the accelerator to recharge its batteries.
And it's actually a California car :P (it's where Tesla's located)

Sounds like a non turbo sohc to me 164 hp. I have a sohc and I know how the engine note is not a dohc.

Hi.
I was able to take a ride in one last year on a fair where they demonstrated the Tesla.
This is freakin awsome. It accelerated so fast. During the test we smoked many other cars. hahahaha... now I want one.
It is an awesome electric driving machine.
