I'm about to get the U87 in a couple of weeks! maybe less. I cannot effin' wait!!! I got a MXL .008 USB Mic and my mixing skills make that cheap mic sound incredible!!! I couldn't imagine what a mix down from me would sound like with a U87!!!

I know what you are talking about, I mixed a lot of cheap mics myself. Then I got the RØDE NTK. What you must expect is a much lower noisefloor first of all, and second a lot more detail. You will notice that to get that Sweet sound, you don't need to mix all that much. My latest video is recorded with the NTK if you wanna hear it, keep in mind the 2 HDD's and some other equipment in the background. The EQ there is neutral.
