I think "The Day After" is good for showing the military and public aspects of a nuclear holocaust in America, "The War Game" is an out-of-date docudrama showing the more public aspect of a nuclear attack in the 1960's with some military, and "Threads" just throws the military out the window and shows you what could happen to people just like you.
I was curious about something. When the message was being transmitted, Stanton and Krause were copying the codes in black books with white paper. I thought the standard copy book was red??
That family that lived near the missile silo was pretty much going to die anyway as they'd be receiving a direct hit from the incoming Soviet Nuke. Even if they got into their basement. They're at the epicenter of the blast and most likely going to be part of the crater. And even if the basement somehow protects them from the direct hit, they'd die within days of severe radiation sickness. And if they died right away in the blast they'd be more fortunate. Watch On The Beach to see what I mean.
what gets me is the number of people who were having sex, watching a ball game, twiddling their thumbs etc. at the time the missiles were launched.
man, the way i listen to news - especially since obama took over - i would have been prepared for days.
that woman preparing for her daughter's wedding is typical of so many people i know that ignore the news. typically, liberal democrats.....oh but they know how to vote on election day...straight democratic ticket.
get american tv or have spies in the country monitoring USA media. wise up and stop thinking that you are smarter than everyone else. as for politics, lest we forget mccain singing about bombing Iran. forget about parties, vote in the right people who will do the greatest good
Every time I watch this movie all I can think of is that maybe someday,I wont have to Pay this Mortgage after all.

Wonder what that book was that Capt. Stanton was reading just before the EAM came in.
