  • cellist looks like she's crapping herself at 5:35 other than that though its really good XD

  • beatifull Han na Chang! y el violinista ! ?

  • all right, those 60 people out there know who you are, im coming to hunt you down.

  • did they not rehearse this together? they can't even start together... the violinist needs to stop doing his own thing and stay with han na.... wasn't great in the beginning but got better towards the end :)

  • @Will1324657 and u could see how pissed off han na was at time cuz he kept startin without her...

  • dude who is the violinist????

  • the reason han na chang is my favorite cellist is because of the faces she makes when she plays the cello. :D

  • a que insensible podría no gustarle esto??? ¬¬

    ES HERMOSO!!! *o*

  • omg look at her face xD, She's like "ah, this is easy and funny~"

  • Video way ahead of sound. Violinist out of tune in the beginning. Han-na Chang unbelievable. Cello and not viola. Overall, excellent.

  • BRAVO!!!

  • wish so badly i could play this like that guy...

....btw, his hair looks like pubes

  • I'm a violist who converted to cello because I had a much greater love of the cello than for the viola. Still, I don't think this duet works very well for cello, at least not the way it's written, because it makes the cello part murky and unclear. Han Na Chang, though a great cellist, is a sort of sloppy player, and that makes things worse in this particular version.

  • @vlnvlaclogbaerhpno I can't trust in the taste of someone who converts from VIOLA to cello. ;)

  • @LonerlovezL Lol viola, :)

  • @LonerlovezL The most stupid comment ever !

  • @6kaonas7 Deal.

  • yessssssssss!

  • isnt that a mistake by violinist 5:30

  • The expression on the faces of the two violinists behind them are hilarious. The one on the left looks like he's trying to contain himself.

  • @sinfoniageek Agreed, I personally believe the violinist set a rather poor tempo in the first variation though the cellist brought the tempo to what it should be.

  • Also that violinist has balls but unfortunately can't match her technical ability. Too bad! Get Joshua Bell or someone in there and this thing will really go.

  • Their ensemble could be tighter, but a very engaging performance.

  • I think she does and absolutely amazing job here of singlehandedly keeping it together.

  • my most favourite bit was 6:38. the intense power at that bit really blew me away! i also really liked 2:23 and i also like how hanna kept on staring at the afro guy to keep up with him! i don`t know why people are bashing how they played this piece, i think it was spectacular!

  • Absolutely astonishing, such cello playing is possible at all. Privileged to be alive and able to listen to her incredible, magnificent cello playing. Composers may throw fastest passages at her. Will be met with lightening speed, crisp, fabulously articulated, rock-solid precision, unwavering, supremely confident playing. Her music comes from the depth of her soul and musical sensitivity, stormy, heroic, mournful, sweet, poetic, magical. Our souls bathe in miraculous sounds, colors of Han-Na.

  • @1schullee Just wait til she dies on a cross for your sins.

  • at 6:33 you can see Chang's facial expression turn to TT haha... she's realizing she has to WATCH his bow in order to play in sync with him. the afro's got no class!

  • this lady plays the cello so well...

  • Favorites list!

  • I like his artificial looking afro =]

  • You can definetely distinguish who of the two is most talented... At 1:04 he's just reading it straight off the paper, no interpretation at all, like he feels undervalued because Han na is playing the next solo ....

  • yikes...they were not in sync with each other at all. Especially towards the end it looked like Han Na was desperately trying to make a connection with him but he was in his own world. Needlessly sloppy. btw, I love Han Na!

  • asians rule the world

    haha just kidding but true

    wait does that make sense

  • 51 personas les falta oido musical :D

  • the face of the girl looks like she's having an orgasm xD

  • the poofy hair guy play his parts cool

  • me encanta mucho

  • seemed like they weren't fully prepared to play together.. but both are wonderful soloists

  • oh ok

  • ooops...ok..it's not Itzhak Perlman...I think I've got the message..! Whoever he is, he's still very good and makes this duet an amazing performance to watch/hear. It will be interesting to know his name anyway...anyone know..?

  • Nice Haircut..!!

  • I love this piece.

I like a bit faster but I could notice many things that I haven't heard!!

    Favorite and Like!!

And yes, he isn't Itzhak Pearlman but he plays very very good.

  • That is NOT Itzhak Perlman! Perlman can't even stand plus Perlman can play Sooooo much better than that. I think you have your violinist mixed up.

  • indescribable... i cant believe what i just saw... :0 AMAZING PERFORMANCE!!

  • Gotta love the violinist's hair lol

  • 6:34 holy shit

  • I don't know about this interpretation..... not the best in my opinion

  • @xbasket12x hmmmm....so which is the best please....

  • @heyitsalanhere Well it was merely my opinion, it doesn't mean anything. But I thought the one by "artofcello" was very good

  • @xbasket12x The 'artofcello' interpretation is quite sweet but it seems like more of a 'novelty excersise' for him...he is prescise. I think it is the feeling and passion in the piece that really comes through with the Chang/Perlman duet...there is more of a 'coversation' going on...a battle...a very mutual respect for each other...and it seems so apreciated by musicians and audience equally. For me, it is a duet like no other...i love listening and watching everytime...just my opinion.. ;-)

  • @heyitsalanhere how do u know the name of the violinist?

  • @sonicfreak12345 Itzhak Perlman is a very well known musician. Check out more of him here, there are many clips of him on youtube. He and Ha-na play this so sumblime... I'd have loved to have been in the audience that night...

  • @heyitsalanhere not itzhak.

  • BOTH ARE AMAZING !!!

  • omg!!!

it is the worst interpretation of thispassacaglia!!!! soooo funny))))

  • I'm a violinist but obviously the cellist is in a completely higher level, she deserved to play with a better violinist...

  • if u listen carefully u can hear a little squeak from the violin in 0:35-0:37 somewhere

  • La diferencia entre un solista y un musico de orquesta..... El ATRIL!.

  • Why do I always think of a dam jewelry commercial when I listen to this? I am pretty sure some company put this in a commercial, I should sue!

  • the most wonderful interpretation of passacaglia =)

  • @sn4zzys just because of the concert master of the munich philharmonic

  • oh my god. I just lost my words. Totally unbelievably beautiful.

  • This piece is definitely one of my favorite cello violin duets :)

  • haahaahah dude asked her at the beginning if she needed the music and she was like nahhhhhi gott it...whatta pimp

  • Just a quick ?. Why the stand and score? It's very clear they have it memorized? LOL

  • reference

  • @Tang0Fox1 it's a usual thing in chamber music. To make sure that you never let down your fellow musician ;-)

  • get ready for extreme mind rape in at 6:36

  • Haha watch her face at 1:47. Seems pretty mocking to me...

  • Is that bruce willis behind him??? lol.

  • I am a cellist hoping to learn this. WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!

  • @mrbassfreak321 lol this comment is from 4 months ago but good luck!

  • At 5:06/5:07 there was an other cello who wants to play too! Am I right? It was just a note during the cello answer at the violin..... The violinist watch somewhere after the theme with such a "who was?" face...

  • it seems like the playing violinist and the other one sitting with glasses are enemies :))

  • @18Jana2Marie1899 roflmao!

  • 50 people have no ears.......

  • WHOOOOOOAAAAAAA

  • AT 6:36 its like HOLY SHIT

  • the two instruments come together so beautifully XD

  • AMAZING performance, beautiful communication between them especially at the end. i agree that the violinist needs some recognition too, he is really phenomenal!

  • I TAK MOZNA TEZ PRZERZYNAC......I GRAC OBOK TO KAZDY GLUPI POTRAFI

    KIEPSKIE MUZYKOWANIE !!!

  • I watched this many times. Yet here is one more Bravo!

  • Nice hair!

  • best violonist !!!!

  • bad performance

  • i think the violinist should also be commended here. we should at least know his name. This is afterall a piece with a definite high level of technicality for both instruments, which was executed here with grace and beauty and a unique style.

  • merci beaucoup ~!

  • wow chang fucked up the last note

  • 6:26 the guy behind hanna chang nods appreciatively after she nails that difficult phrase.

  • It seems that 47 people where so entranced by Han Na Chang that they missed the "like" button by mistake.

  • oops.

  • the violinist actually messes up a couple times :P...was something wrong with the audio feed because they didn't start at the same time...amazing cellist aaanndd I find their interpretation interesting perhaps less romantic on the violinists end but mre than which was displayed in artofthecello's vid

  • artofcello has a better version i presume , but this is only my opinion

  • to romatic? its bach!

  • @mburch1974 its actually handel :P

  • @SultanKaraMusic i thought it was just handels themes but a different composer? halvorson or something similar...

  • @mburch1974 No actually, Handel composed the harpsichord suites, from which one of the movements was taken by Johan Halvorsen (Suite No. 7 6th movement to be exact) and arranged for a violin and a viola. Given the period Halvorsen lived in (1864-1935), I think this piece was intended to be played very Romantically.

  • The guys sitting behind them look like a right miserable bunch!

  • @violadude2 they look more bored than miserable

  • LOVE it! beautiful! (added bonus-lovin the fro)

  • genial

  • Nicely played

  • Cellist was played very very well! She knows what she's doing. The violinist... Very out o tune the whole opening and didn't bring Hana in very well... Didn't like him at all.... Tried to hard to be virtuostic.

  • wow... they are totally fighting over frist place in this music :D

  • She plays it too romantically. Way too much vibrato.

  • Comment removed

  • lol..good performance..except they need to be together in many parts !lol

  • The violinist never looks at her once. You can tell she is getting frustrated in parts trying to keep up with him.

  • i think he plays the violin with character.. you see it looks apart of him..as well as Hanna Chang. i like his poof too!! loll...he plays it like a fantasy...try summin , watch it with out looking at it..just listen. Its so much more spectacular when you create your own mood. this piece is lovely..luv at 2:20 ma favv!!.

  • I just love this

  • if heifetz was here he would say: wouldn't be nice if they started together?

    but nice performance by both!

  • The BEST performance of Passacaglia for Violin and Cello in years. Cello phenom Han Na Chang is amazing. A picture perfect, wonderfully nuanced, superbly paced performance by both virtuosos.

  • This is ridiculoussssssss.

  • I thought the violinist was pretty good.

  • @dasocks Maybe he just doesn't care what others think of him, and palys for his own entertainment

  • Han was amazing, violinist butchered it.

  • what the hell is wrong with the violinist? Pretty sucks

  • you can tell that fat violinist wants to stick his hairy fro dick in her ass

...and i like wells cunningham's version of this better

  • bless the ppl who speak their mind on here. I was LOL for quite a while about "the gray fro, fat & shapeless body" bit... i admit to also making such snap judgements based on appearance!

  • 5:43 personal solo?? all the musicians in the back are giving him the "wtf is he doing" look -_-''

  • @iplehguitar

thank you for seeing what i see. seriously he butchered the harmonics....

  • @iplehguitar he couldn't get the fingered harmonics the first time so i guess after the repeat he just decided to go for the actual notes up there ..

  • i try not to say anything negative on youtube but that violinist really sucks. maybe he didn't have time to practice... ? this is so sad b/c hanna chang does such a nice job. with a better violinist, this could have been the best version of passacaglia.

  • LAWL the first thing i thought when i saw that guy was, "oo.. he doesnt look like he's going to play well" Why? the gray fro, the fat and shapeless body (most fat violinists have a certain shape to them), and a LAZINESS. absolutely no violinist should look lazy, since playing violin is all about not being lazy and of self-control. he just looks extremely unprofessional

  • o no! =( 5:30; 5:43...................

  • that was a great performance! who is that violinist? Han-Na Changs cello is so bueatiful. she looks so relaxed. i wish i could play as well as she does.

  • QUE MENTIROSO EL VIOLINISTA

  • @PIPE3GUTI jajajajajajaajajjajajajaja por que lo dices??? jaja

  • Is this by Handel?

  • At 5:31 when he misses the harmonic, greatest expression ever.

  • haha her face at 1:38.

  • maybe in next 15 years i may be able to learn this ahahaha

  • ahhhh! han -na chang is so hot when she plays... sometimes.....

  • Han-Na Chang's bow wrist is sooooooo awesome, as if her had was made of liquid! yet she still has so much control over her bow... i HAVE to learn from her! :D

  • Awesome job....and nice hair dude!! ;) Im gonna go get this song now!!!

  • Comment removed

  • nice individual playing, but sounds very under rehearsed :(

  • @nathan87 Exactly.

  • My thoughts exactly o:

  • Heard this many times, but never with such deftness of touch or exciting contrasts! Brava, bravo!

  • What a fun piece, how the violin and cello play back and forth and intertwine with each other. And as usual, Ha-na Chang does a wonderful job (and the violinist too -- I just don't know him).

  • The violonist is AMAZING!!!

  • han na chang is phenomenal; violinist had some problems...interesting rendition and performance

  • its looks like that the violinst has more problems with the piece as han a chang

  • awesome

  • What a world we live in where calling someone an octopus is actually a compliment!

  • on violon is Mr.Lorenz Nasturica

  • thank you!

  • Seems like the violinist wasn't very good at the harmonics...or was it just me?

Han Na Chang was amazing as always.

  • Han Na is new discovery for me, so thank you so much for sharing this.

  • not the best performance i've seen of this piece, but definately the best cello playing i've ever seen. She plays so fiercely ,then so softly right after, her tone is always top notch and she does all this while still being visually apealing, bravo

  • look how long her endpin is! holy cow!

  • He plays very well, It's time to go to the hairdresser lol

  • brilliant!

  • This is actually a very difficult piece to synchronize & perform . And usually orchestra members get only about an hour to rehearse with the guest artist in most cases. So if that was the case here, I'd say their performance was quite good :) But I agree, there's just no excuse for the fro....

  • Oh, I didn't know that. I was a bit dissapointed at the performance. But your explanation made me realize the reality. Thank you for your comment.

  • the fro need to go

  • My thoughts exactly.

  • the violinist doesn't have very good tone qualtity.....

  • Stop harpin on the violinist! He did wonderful!

  • the ending was amazing!

  • Poor Lorenz Nasturica. Did great job yet no one referred to him in vid. captions or title.

  • they either got the timing wrong at sum parts or the cellist couldnt keep up. Towards the middle they start too loose each other and u could tell by her facial expressions lol

  • she is so distastefully over powering him.

  • She may have been trying to help him cover up some of his mistakes, especially his high notes.

  • I think she may have been doing that out of tastefulness - I'm not a violinist, but I definitely do not prefer his playing to other versions.

  • Its the microphones !

  • maybe its the microphone that make han-na sounds so loud. its very close to her cello.

  • are they really playing together?

  • who is the violinist?

  • the violinist is Lorenz Nasturica :)

  • I like his playing a lot, but that haircut has got to go...

  • the music matters, not the hair.......

    my goodness.....

  • @AlmaSchiwago yeah,,but hair is freaking hilarious XD

  • That dude has super awesome hair! But can rock the violin!

  • I think that the seated violinist is smiling "sarcastically" b/c he was probably shocked that the performing violinist is hogging the stand! Note at the beginning (you have to watch closely in the 1st 2 seconds) that he had just moved the stand closer to him and and then gestured tp Chang as though he were asking if it were OK and she leaned way over before she nodded OK!
