He truly was a prophet of God. I am sad that I was too young to have known of the Church when he was alive, but reading the things he has said in his lifetime, confirms to me that he was a beloved prophet of our Heavenly Father. May he rest in peace. <3

People told how to think, act, and feel. Elitist, exalted status for leaders, and members. Polarized us-versus-them mentality. Leadership induces guilt to control. Subservience to group causes cut ties with family and friends. Devoting inordinate amounts of time to group. Encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with group.
Im deeply touched. I know Pres Hinkley is a true prophet, and so Pres Monson who took his place. The love this man has shown in his life is forever in my memory and if we could but love our enemies, how hard this is, but simply love and not strike back when they speak evil of us. Im reminded of the great love the Saviour had and if we could heal the wounds and learn to speak good of each other. I regret that I have not always done so but have hope in my heart.
I miss & love Pres. Hinckley! He is the prophet of my heart!....simply because he was prophet during my struggles in life! Especially when I decided to come back to church, where true happiness exist!!!!!!!!

I remember exactly what i was doing when i heard the news that Gordon B. Hinkley passed away. It was the night before that I heard something about his passing. I couldn't believe it. The I woke up around 6am, and turned on the television, and saw the news again. I was so saddened that I called my bishop and told him about it. He had already known about it. I cried. That is when my testimony in the church grew ten fold. I knew the church is the true church.
Its so sad reading some of these comments. I dont know why people speak ill and irreverently of other people's beliefs. There is alot of sadness and misery in the world what is wrong with believing in hope in love in becoming a better person. This is the beauty of the teaching contained in the world's religions. I respect everyone's beliefs in this world particularly if they are striving to live better happier and more productive lives.

@Speedskate2014 Sure, many faiths use the Lords name in some way or another but the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His church not because men say so but because the Holy Spirit testifies to us that it is so. We depend on Him to give us light and guidance. We love God and we wish to please Him. We are not perfect but with we strive to become more perfect day by day following the example of Christ. We believe that he can commune with God through revelation given through the spirit of the holy ghost. We do not condemn those who do not choose to believe these things which we may testify of. I feel it is unjust to judge, that is God's job, not ours. We believe this is Christ's church. Not the prophet's.

Gordon B. Hinckley. Prophet, Seer and Revelator of The Lord Jesus Christ. He was a GREAT man and a PREFECT Prophet, I will miss him, but he has done what the Lord has wanted. From January 1st 2000 to January 27th 2008, he was the Greatest Living Man, at that time to start off the new millennium, God wanted such a great prophet at a Historic time, to lead his Saints into a New Era.
So all I can say is' We thank thee oh God for a Prophet'
He was a great man, to whom a love so dearly. Our Blessed and Beloved, was truly a great Prophet to live at this time, these latter day. He was one of the best, to whom I admire and know many do.

Didn't Joseph Smith say that all the other churches on earth were an abomination, or at least was told that, and he echoed it? Doesn't sound like he was "decent" to other people's religion, either. On a more serious note, I grieve deeply for GBH. I'm sure he was a decent man, and I don't deny it at all, but I'm afraid he met the REAL Jesus when it was too late.
I have never heard that, but I would be willing to at least consider the possibility if you found prof, but I really doubt you will. And don't we all worship the same Jesus? He sacrificed himself for my sins. For that I am more then grateful.

Have you never heard the account of the First Vision? (read Joseph Smith History 1:19) Brigham Young, in the JoD, said this: "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (8:199). Sounds like bashing to me. I'm not trying to be "horrible to other churches". What I've found is that SOME Mormons (not necessarily you) fail to differentiate between questioning the doctrine of the LDS church and "bashing" of the church.

To continue my point, I make it a point NOT TO ATTACK THE PERSON. I question the doctrine and point out the flaws IN THE DOCTRINE. Also, no, we do not worship the same Jesus. Neither I nor any other Bible-believing Christian believe that Jesus is the spirit-brother of Satan, nor that Jesus was born by natural action as per Brigham Young, but by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 2:1, Alma 7:10). So, true, none of us have the right to "bash" other churches, but to test doctrine.
We (all members of my church included) believe in the Bible true. We just have other scriptures too.

I talk to Mormons, in general, and I discuss, not argue. According to Scripture, Jesus always existed...Satan did not. Scripture teaches that the Word (Jesus) was with God and was God (still is) (see John 1:1). Satan was originally created good, but chose to rebel against God, as per Isaiah 14:12-14. So, John 1:1 shows that Jesus existed as the pre-incarnate Word, and became flesh as per John 1:14. But where did the spirit-brother doctrine come from? I honestly don't know.
This statement actually is a contadiction in what you said before. You admit Satan (Lucifur) was created by God. i.e. They were SPIRIT brothers. We were all with God once else, where did we come from?
Jesus is the spirit brother of Satan. God created Lucifur just as he created all things if he is not our spirit brother, who is he? My next point, Matthew 2:1 reads, "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jeusalem,' so how does that scripure help you argument?

Im deeply touched. I know Pres Hinkley is a true prophet, and so Pres Monson who took his place. The love this man has shown in his life is forever in my memory and if we could but love our enemies, how hard this is, but simply love and not strike back when they speak evil of us. Im reminded of the great love the Saviour had and if we could heal the wounds and learn to speak good of each other. I regret that I have not always done so but have hope in my heart.

I remember exactly what i was doing when i heard the news that Gordon B. Hinkley passed away. It was the night before that I heard something about his passing. I couldn't believe it. The I woke up around 6am, and turned on the television, and saw the news again. I was so saddened that I called my bishop and told him about it. He had already known about it. I cried. That is when my testimony in the church grew ten fold. I knew the church is the true church.

There is alot of sadness and misery in the world what is wrong with believing in hope in love in becoming a better person. This is the beauty of the teaching contained in the world's religions. We believe that he can commune with God through revelation given through the spirit of the holy ghost. We do not condemn those who do not choose to believe these things which we may testify of. From January 1st 2000 to January 27th 2008, he was the Greatest Living Man, at that time to start off the new millennium, God wanted such a great prophet at a Historic time, to lead his Saints into a New Era.

He was a great man, to whom a love so dearly. Our Blessed and Beloved, was truly a great Prophet to live at this time, these latter day. He was one of the best, to whom I admire and know many do.

Didn't Joseph Smith say that all the other churches on earth were an abomination, or at least was told that, and he echoed it? Doesn't sound like he was "decent" to other people's religion, either. On a more serious note, I grieve deeply for GBH. I'm sure he was a decent man, and I don't deny it at all, but I'm afraid he met the REAL Jesus when it was too late.

I have never heard that, but I would be willing to at least consider the possibility if you found prof, but I really doubt you will. And don't we all worship the same Jesus? He sacrificed himself for my sins. For that I am more then grateful.
Even if he had said that, about other churches, which I strongly doubt, why would that give you the excuse to be horrible to others churches'?Just because one man did it doesn't give the rest of the right too.

Have you never heard the account of the First Vision? (read Joseph Smith History 1:19) Brigham Young, in the JoD, said this: "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (8:199). Sounds like bashing to me. I'm not trying to be "horrible to other churches". What I've found is that SOME Mormons (not necessarily you) fail to differentiate between questioning the doctrine of the LDS church and "bashing" of the church.

Many will try to cast espersions on the church & claim it's honist questioning. 2nd I think you're stuck on the word 'ignorant", people forget that words true meaning which is unknowing, no one just knows something they have to be taught that i think was all he meant.

To continue my point, I make it a point NOT TO ATTACK THE PERSON. I question the doctrine and point out the flaws IN THE DOCTRINE. Also, no, we do not worship the same Jesus. Neither I nor any other Bible-believing Christian believe that Jesus is the spirit-brother of Satan, nor that Jesus was born by natural action as per Brigham Young, but by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 2:1, Alma 7:10). So, true, none of us have the right to "bash" other churches, but to test doctrine.

We (all members of my church included) believe in the Bible true. We just have other scriptures too.
But how could you not believe that Jesus and Satan are not brothers, don't you at least believe that they are related?After all we are all related in some way or anthor. I talk to Mormons, in general, and I discuss, not argue. According to Scripture, Jesus always existed...Satan did not. Scripture teaches that the Word (Jesus) was with God and was God (still is) (see John 1:1). Satan was originally created good, but chose to rebel against God, as per Isaiah 14:12-14. So, John 1:1 shows that Jesus existed as the pre-incarnate Word, and became flesh as per John 1:14. But where did the spirit-brother doctrine come from? I honestly don't know.

This statement actually is a contadiction in what you said before. You admit Satan (Lucifur) was created by God. i.e. They were SPIRIT brothers. We were all with God once else, where did we come from?

Jesus is the spirit brother of Satan. God created Lucifur just as he created all things if he is not our spirit brother, who is he? My next point, Matthew 2:1 reads, "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jeusalem,' so how does that scripure help you argument?

Gordon B Hinckley was a prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ. I know he was and this is the Lords work because it can not be stopped by men. the prophet joseph smith was tared and feathered, suffered greatly through out his life. still the LDS church and the book of mormon have remained on this earth. both continue to grow and progress. this is the truly the Lords work and you will not stop it. nor will the youtube thumb approvals. you can not deny the wonderful effects it has had on the world.

Turn on your tv, walk down the street, or pick up a news paper and tell me the world doesn't need a living prophet today more than ever before. I can't even imagine what it would be like to think that god doesn't love us enough to bless us with a prophet to guide us in these troubleing times. Why is it that LDS are the ONLY ONES that think they are Christian? The only ones,not a single protestant,catholic or orthodox consider LDS to be Christian. There is more to being Christian then saying you worship Christ,if someone says they worship Christ and Mohammad I certainly don't consider them Christian AT ALL,so what makes you ANY DIFFERENT! If you want to be Christian then pick up the bible and put down the BOM,cause only Christ offers salvation and only through him can you receive it!!

You criticize us for having two books, but don't you know that the Old Testament and the New Testament are two different books? So in truth, us LDS have three books, and you have two!
