I live on the south west coast of Canada. I'm starting to work out my garden plan right now. I purchased some Mammoth Improved onion seeds. The directions for growing them are very general to onions. I'm having a difficult time finding proper information as to how to grow them to their maximize size. All I've found is a story about a lady in the U.K. that plants hers 15 inches apart (each way) Do you have any suggestions? Fertilizer, moisture, anything/everthing will be helpful. Thanks, Mike
@haynerbass Mike, click the link to my veg growing website in the description and have a look at that, this may help, and click the contact bit on my site to send me an email.
Wow! I didn't think too much about the carrots until you showed the pic with you & all your veggies! Amazing! Those carrots were huge and so perfect! The onions were so beautiful! And I thought everything was bigger in Texas! Lol! Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Looking at those industrial size onions, I got to ask: Are you by any chance living near an nuclear waste dump site? ... Have you looked recently in the pond? Any three eyed frogs swimming around?
you need to ditch the pottery and take up gardening full time come to the dark side and make more vids about your beautifull garden and your harvests :)
Hey Dan, just spent an hour looking at your allotment diary website. You must have a hell of a garden plus I was LOL at your creative writing. You must have a great sense of humor. Sally
Dan, were there any other competitors? lol I am sure Chef Ramsay would have a field day with that bloomin onion. Surely you must have grown some of those veggies in the underground ceramic pots? good stuff.
After that onion nothing would suprise me. LOL I was looking through your web site you really love your gardening. I look at a plane and it dies no green fingers here.
So what is the world record for a onion that one cant have been far away.
I have noticed that most of my pottery cohorts also have a garden. I went to a glaze class last May and the 2nd favorite topic was of course how does your garden grow? What do you thinkl?

how do you manage to grow these so big?
is it selective crossbreeding or what?
now i know they look good but do they taste good? :D
FpsMuch 2 years ago
It's a combination of sheer madness, and getting the right srain of seed and then some more madness...LOL !!
P.S they taste just fine but you have a job getting through a 9 pound onion before it starts to go off.
Cheers,Dan.
