  • I live on the south west coast of Canada. I'm starting to work out my garden plan right now. I purchased some Mammoth Improved onion seeds. The directions for growing them are very general to onions. I'm having a difficult time finding proper information as to how to grow them to their maximize size. All I've found is a story about a lady in the U.K. that plants hers 15 inches apart (each way) Do you have any suggestions? Fertilizer, moisture, anything/everthing will be helpful. Thanks, Mike

  • @haynerbass Mike, click the link to my veg growing website in the description and have a look at that, this may help, and click the contact bit on my site to send me an email.

    Cheers,Dan.

  • I have noticed that most of my pottery cohorts also have a garden. I went to a glaze class last May and the 2nd favorite topic was of course how does your garden grow? What do you thinkl?

  • Dan your smiling!! LOL

THAT is the bigest onion I have ever seen..!!! I didnt know they could grow that big. What is the record??

  • You see,I can smile !!!

That might be a big onion but next year I'm trying to grow a 6ft long Carrot....seriously..LOL !!!

  • If you grow a 6ft Carrot I am coming over to see it and I am serious..LOL

  • I feel some double entendres should be appropriate now.

But,forget that,If I do grow a 6 footer feel free to come over to see my giant root vegetable !! LOL !!!!

  • wow! that is AMAZING!!!!!! =D

  • how do you manage to grow these so big?

is it selective crossbreeding or what?

now i know they look good but do they taste good? :D

  • It's a combination of sheer madness, and getting the right srain of seed and then some more madness...LOL !!

P.S they taste just fine but you have a job getting through a 9 pound onion before it starts to go off.

    Cheers,Dan.

  • pretty sure you don't have a problem with squirrels in your garden ;)
