I'm a Japan fan and this is one of my favorite song, i must admit taht this cover is very beautiful, and teh voice ao f woman fits very well in. The extract from Nightporter movie makes the whole thing very surealistic.

I awoke the other morning with a few bars of this haunting melody floating through my head. I could not immediately remember the name of the song or the group. Several decades ago I had approached a choreographer about a dance piece to Japan's "Nightporter" ... This is hugely symbolic for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ♥~Azra~♥

My God, very touching indeed.

To the singer, I extend my deepest gratitude for you talent in transcribing vocally this song. I'm sure many have said that you sound very much like the great Kate Bush, which you do indeed. But unlike most copy cat singers you have your own flavour added to the magical musical family tree. Which I think makes this a very special piece. Bravo.

The footage was taken from the 1974 movieThe Night Porter, starring Chalotte Rampling & Dirk Bogarde , directed by {Italian} Liliana Cavini a contraversial movie in its day still worth a watch though.

Beautifully sung I thought , the singers voice complemented the overall impact of the scene. Not often you hear a lass singing a japan song .

absolutely beautiful, the song itself as I was originally looking for Japan's and David Sylvians album version and instead I discovered this gem of dance and music therapy for zee Third Reich...majestic ballet and beautiful voice...does anyone know where this was taken from. I wish more people would make the effort to do things like this rather than just putting an album cover up and a song...this one will defintely be saved

The man holding the spot light on the dancer and later the main SS Officer looks like the actor Sir Dirk Bogarde. If it is then this clip requires further explanation because that is a relatively youngish Bogarde.

That aside, this is a truly haunting clip.

I think....The dancer is a jewish man before the war..One of the officers being his companion..(who shines the light)

During the war,yer man is then entertainment for the nazi officers,stripped to his g string for humiliation.. irony being, the companion is now an officer.Very poignant version the video gives a new depth to the brilliant vocals. WOW She does sound like Kate Bush (one of my faves). I really like it.
