paul is wrong on one major point, in 1921 president harding let the economy correct itself. only difference is, we have mutually assured destruction. if major banks collapse in america, the damage is felt around the world. so paul thinks it's similiar to 1921 but it's much worse, we had savings in 1921, government was small compared to today. i agree with paul but clearly the world would have had a tremendous depression, for more then a year i'm sure. maybe 4 or 5 or more.
The banking collapse is needed. A new banking structure could then emerge. The banking cartels need to die off. America knows how to survive; we don't need government intervention in everything. Dr. Paul is not lying, he is saying that the recession would begin its climb back toward market equilibrium within one year, without FED intervention. With FED intervention it will take much longer, as we agree, and it will only result in another (more destructive) recession, bordering on a depression. Simple reality. You save up and start a business. You borrow some money at 9% interest to finance the inventory/stock/etc. The business is generating a nice profit and all is well. The blood sucking ticks see you making money. They decide to duplicate that same business, fully funded by the federal reserve with nothing down at 0% interest. They then undercut your prices by 30%. You cannot survive on the remaining profit margin...game over, the maggots win.

Ron Paul keeps jibber-jabbering about the 70's being bad. Actually, GDP grew more in the 70's than the 00's in inflation adjusted terms, and was not that far behind the 80's. Not bad for the decade of the vietnam war.
Ok. You got a lot of what you want. 30 years of Reaganomics since 1980 with 40 percent GDP growth. Except we had 10 years of partial break from 1992 to 2000 and 2008 to 2010 when we grew GDP almost 40 percent. 20 years of trickle down Reaganomics and zilch to show.

I could not sit and have an argument about these topics with these people on their terms and i dont know how Ron finds that patients to do it... Sitting there and staying close enough within the bounds of mainstream bullshit politics to not be called a "looney" must be driving him crazy.

@danbuck333 So Ron Paul predicted that the variable rate mortgage would switch from the fed rate to the Libor rate. and peoples mortgages would double and in some cases tipple. and that banks would sell derivatives based on the future profits of raising rates. I did not hear Ron Paul predict that.

Ron Paul is right but if you pay close attention to Kanjorski he says "What IF we let the collapse happen and everybody was collapsed for decades after....." this is one of the main arguments of Keynesians and they are right because they are taking the social impact into account. Ron Paul is right though, it needs to be fixed as the party has went on too long. I think it's too late.. The wealths already divvied.

Sorry but Ron is wrong here. Businesses are going overseas because they can get workers for $1 a day and no insurance. I love a lot of the things Ron Paul says, but this whole notion that regulation is chasing businesses away is bullshit. Deregulation is exactly what caused the financial crisis. The Fed under Greenspan -- how they implemented Reaganomics under Reagan, Bush, Clinton, etc. --- including the DE-regulation that basically legalized high-level complex fraud, this created a series not of Main Street bubbles -- though there was some "trickle down" in IT and such, but a series of bubbles to sustain Wall Street Bull Markets. It was to favor productive labor and tangible capital formation in tax policy, but BURDEN "economic rent" (free lunch) extracted from the real economy by speculating, shuffling paper, toll booths. If you envision USA like a giant conglomerate, zero regulation would be like a company not overseeing and regulating it's divisions and depts.

The main problem would have been that the pyramid of assets (based partly on underlying debts and payment streams, and partly on fictive expectations of "greater fools" and "herd instinct") was FALLING like a rock. The market would have "found" those values --- but the wealth of the banks would have been wiped out. CNTD

paul is wrong on one major point, in 1921 president harding let the economy correct itself. only difference is, we have mutually assured destruction. if major banks collapse in america, the damage is felt around the world. so paul thinks it's similiar to 1921 but it's much worse, we had savings in 1921, government was small compared to today. i agree with paul but clearly the world would have had a tremendous depression, for more then a year i'm sure. maybe 4 or 5 or more.

The banking collapse is needed. A new banking structure could then emerge. The banking cartels need to die off. America knows how to survive; we don't need government intervention in everything. Politics and the economy must be separate like church and state is. Bottom line.The world would rally around communes, and rebuild infrastructure. Then a technocratic government of communal assembly would take charge of the direction, not wall-street or the banking cartels.

@zenyork i agree with what your saying. but paul thinks the recession would last one year, like in 1921. but in todays global economy, with mutually assured destruction, there WOULD be a depression for a few years. and YES i agree you have to take the pain because of the malinvestments created by the Federal Reserve. it's just that paul is kind of lying to the people if he says it won't be a bad recession or only last a year, all i'm saying.

I see your perspective on his statement, however I must disagree. Dr. Paul is not lying, he is saying that the recession would begin its climb back toward market equilibrium within one year, without FED intervention. With FED intervention it will take much longer, as we agree, and it will only result in another (more destructive) recession, bordering on a depression. Many non-governmental economists agree with his estimate. See: Schiff or Fisk.

Simple reality. You save up and start a business. You borrow some money at 9% interest to finance the inventory/stock/etc. The business is generating a nice profit and all is well. The blood sucking ticks see you making money. They decide to duplicate that same business, fully funded by the federal reserve with nothing down at 0% interest. They then undercut your prices by 30%. You cannot survive on the remaining profit margin...game over, the maggots win.

Kanjorski speaks of inflation as a natural occurrence. The reality is, inflation is just another word for the dollar loosing its value and the dollar has lost 96% of its value since the creation of the Fed in 1913. Kanjorski has been bought and paid for. He is not in line with preserving the liberty of US citizens. Ron Paul is for getting back to the constitution and restoring liberty.
