Betty, this may seem like a silly question! I'm from Australia, I've always wanted to try this but I am unsure if it is served as a dessert or as a dinner option (to go with salad or something) thank you so much!
Betty I really love your videos. You seem like a wonderful woman. My table settings are a lot more elaborate and flashy but I love your simplicity and genuine charm. I will try this recipe.
@CuteBunnyKiss I have lemon meringue pie, key lime pie, pecan pie, derby (race day) pie, apple pie, frozen triple chocolate pie, and probably a few others in bettyskitchen.
Part -2- From my family to you ....Thank you for the Pie!!!! Your the Best!!!! This will be my daughters signature pie to take every holiday from here on out. Betty, she really, really felt very proud. It's nice to have a dish to call your own & have others ask my daughter to bring it every year now ; ) THANKS AGAIN! HUGS!
Hi Betty! Me &my daughter are making 2 of these for X-Mas & taking them 2 my Mom's for X-mas dinner. We are still gonna brown some mini marshmellows on top. I'm from Calif. & when we were asked by my family what we were bringing we said we are bringing A Signature Southern Sweet Potato Pie:) Betty I hope you don't mind we actaully told them that it was my daughters Signature pie. She did such a great job on it that we call it now her holiday signature pie. Hope that's ok?ThanksHugs Luv it so much
@ohpineapples Thanks for the great comment! It is just fine for this to be your daughter's holiday signature pie--I'm flattered! I hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas!
@bettyskitchen Betty I hopeU&your family had a wonderful X-Mas!We took 2 of your pies 2 my Mom's house&Everyone loved them! We didn't have any 2 bring back home:( (were all eaten up)Everyone there walked up 2 my daughter&whispered 2 her"I really love your pie"!She got different compliments from different ppl, but it sure made her feel really good!(Especially when her Grandma gave her a Hugh compliment)At night when we left she sure felt good&said I now have a pie to call my own specialty pie
Betty part -2- So after everyone watched over my shoulders in the kitchen on Thanksgiving alot of guests started writing down your channel! I explained how U make all these WONDERFUL dishes&that's how I'm learing to make all these wonderful dishes! U should have seen everyone watching over me while making this pie in my kitchen. They all liked you SO MUCH & I'm pretty sure U will now have a bunch more subcribers! I made a 2nd pie too! I had everything left over 2 make another so I did.GREAT PIE!!
Hi Betty! Oh Boy-I made this&OMG it was SO GOOD!!I did sprinkle the mini marshmellows on top& it was Great!! We don't live in the South&everyone that came over for Thanksgiving was asking about your pie.I had my laptop in the kitchen& your video of this pie going while making it.Everyone was standing in the kitchen asking who you were.I explained that this is how I got this dish.Everyone was standing around wathing U on youtube with me.Everyone wanted 2 know about you channel! The pie was GREAT
i love sweet potato. have you ever had sweet potato fries? they are all over the place here in california. they are better that just white potato because of all the beta carrotine and they turn out better when they are baked than normal fires wich you have to fri in oil
@AlexaLuvs Hi = ) I live in California 2. We make sweet potato fries also.We love them! It does seem to be the craze out here in Calif huh? I see them in resturants all the time. There very good! = ) You should try Betty's pie tho. It's easy & it's SO GOOD : ) Everyone ate it up on Thanksgiving. I used my big cement mixer lol & just dumped everything in one bowl & mixed&poured in a pie crust & baked. We even made a 2nd one! SO GOOD! Try it. What part of Calif. R you from? I'm in SoCalif.Great Pie
Betty I was looking around 2 see if U had a video on making homemade cranberries I couldn't find 1.I seen your other cranberry dishes, but not the kind like everybody talks about at work making. One person said soak the cranberries&put them in a pot of water, orange juice and sugar and wait for them to pop.The other person said NOT to put orange juice in it.I'm confused lol.I was hoping you had a youtube on it.I think that's the one dish if more ppl knew how to make it they would & not buy the can
@bettyskitchen Thanks Betty! Yep, I've been sitting here right now infact looking for one. It's only 4:30 here in South. California so I've got all night lol to look for one. Thanks for letting me know tho. Have a nice evening and don't stay up to late ; )
Hi Betty = ) My daughter has been requsting that we make this for the past 4 or 5 years. We just never knew how and now we do. We have one question for you, when the pie is all done can we place some baby marshmellos on top and stick it back in the oven just until the marshmellows are brown? Would that taste good. We will be buying everything this weekend and this pie is on our list. Thanks Betty! Your the best !!!
@ohpineapples Thanks for your help Betty! I think a small bag of marshmellows will be fine to buy.I'm guessing that after the pie is done we can put the small marshmellows on top & I'm guessing bake at 350 for about 10 minutes until brown? Or should I lower the temp. of my oven 2 protect pie crust? We are gonna wake up really early tomorrow & shop.I'm really just looking to brown the marshmellows. Is 350 for 10 minutes okay? ps I'm making your Veg.Beef soup again with the Rotel SO GOOD
@ohpineapples I think 350 degrees for about 10 minutes sounds right. I would just watch the pie crust. You might just cover the outer edges of the pie crust with aluminum foil for the entire baking, including the browning of the marshmallows. I'm glad you are enjoying the soup!
@bettyskitchen Thanks Bettty! Oh yah I was planning on keeping the foil on the pie crust the entire time the pie would be in the oven, even while browning the mini-marshmellows. I just wanted to be sure that 350 wasn't too high. Thanks Betty! I'm sure it will turn out really great! We are also making your sage dressing to = )))
Yummy! One of my favorite pies! You make it look so easy, will try it and I did favorite this video to my pc for future replay when trying my own. Ty so much, Betty! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! ((Hugs)) from Angie in AR
@kokonutbaby1 Hi Angie! Thanks for your recent comments--sorry I have gotten behind in answering! You always make me smile. I hope you enjoy the pie! Happy Thanksgiving, Angie!
@loveitmakeupxx I have the same situation--just Rick and me, unless my daughter's family comes over. This pie is an excellent candidate for freezing--both the crust and the filling are just like fresh when you thaw them out. if you don't have a freezer, the pie will be good for a week in the refrigerator.
@bettyskitchen hey betty great videos..................................................soon im gonna make cupcakes do u have a video for sugar frosting vanilla is fine thoughi just wanna know if you can make a recipe 4 sugar frosting thanx
@azianstothetop The most watched recipe in bettyskitchen is buttercream frosting. It seems to be everyone's favorite frosting--for cakes, cupcakes, etc.
@bettyskitchen oh that's sure good to know. I was wondering about that. We are a small family also and that did cross my mind. Thanks for the tip = ))
Can I sprinkle crushed nuts like almonds or pecans on top of this pie in addition to the dollop of whip cream? And can I use vanilla ice cream instead of whip cream if I don't have the whipped cream?
I have never had sweet potato pie but love candied yams. This looks delicious and can't wait to try it. I count calories so I plan on making this with skim milk like you did and egg beaters. I wonder if I leave out the butter if it would make a difference or would substituting it for apple sauce work?
wow your pie crust is so perfect looking. I could never get mine to look like that. I agree it is much easier and saves lots of time by using the can type of yams/sweet ptatoes.
Hi Betty - greetings from London UK. Another great upload and one I am keen to make. Can I just ask - do you need to grease the pie dish? I noticed you didn't and the pastry did not seem to stick when you were serving slices. I usually grease the pan and wondered if it is necessary for this type of crust.
@MsCrispybacon No, you don't need to grease the dish. There is enough butter in the pie crust dough to keep it from sticking. It is one of the easiest crusts to use that I have ever made.
I make this every year for thanksgiving! I also make a heath bar crumb topping with brown sugar and stuff. Amazing video Betty, it's always nice to see how others do it and tip's! I'm excited to make this for the thanksgiving for the first time having my fiancee meet my family!
