Wouldn't it be illegal to walk around with a walking stick in England because it

could be used as a deadly weapon ( Bo Staff ). I know guns, pocket knives, and other simple weapons are illegal in England, so would this Bo Staff martial arts weapon not also be illegal? Why is self defense illegal in England?

@johnny102marvin Self defence is legal as long as the amount of harm you cause them is round about, equal or less than, the harm you perceived they were to cause you.

Knives are legal to carry as long as you have a valid reason, and pocket knives are allowed as long as the blades are non locking.

@johnny102marvin Guns are not illegal in Britain, they need to be licensed and then stored properly and not carried in public. Knives may be carried if you have an appropriate reason for them ...fishing etc, Anyone over a certain age may carry a knife as long as it is not over a certain length and has not got a locking blade. Self defense is not illegal in Britain in fact a man just stabbed a burgalar to death and wasnt charged. You may carry a stick of course or old folk would be crawling!!!!!

@johnny102marvin Because when discussing semantics of "self defense" it goes both ways. What I mean by that is that self-defense also means offense. Thus, a specific tool used mainly for such specific purpose such as for fighting, can be used to defend oneself and others, or harm others. Guns are made to shoot targets mainly fellow humans or animals and pencils are mainly used to record something. Of course one can use pencils to attack others, but it's not mainly for that purpose. Understood?
