All these tests are flawed because it depends on how much RAM they have, what operating system, and how much storage space is left on their HDD's. My macbook 13-inch from '07 starts up faster than all of those, probably due to the new HDD I put in it.
I work on both of them but the one you see the most are pc's it's unlikely to get Mac's in and if you do it's for a upgrade and the iMac is the one that gets me the drivers for the pc's I still have a pc too but it has xp pro on it that's the only windows os that's worth something lol the only other os is linux and that's a good one for a pc if you look at things on the web that other people don't look at like porn .est

@stanek007 not really. my MBP i5 with intel X25M SSD starts up in about 10-13 seconds. you can always buy a macbook from the store and upgrade the hard drive and memory yourself. the ssd's apple offers are not nearly as good as the intel ones.

Typing this message on a Macbook Pro. And I am underwhelmed by the machine. I am a fairly experienced computer user, and I have my Macbook Pro triple booted with windows 7, Mac OSX, and Ubuntu Linux. I'm sorry to say that there are a handful of compatibility issues with using operating systems outside of Mac OSX. The touchpad being the primary compatibility problem, followed by the speakers and microphone. As for using Mac OSX, it is like being reduced to using some tonka toy over a real OS.
There are windows drivers for the macbook pro on the os x install disc that came with you mac. It has graphics, bluetooth, audio, keyboard, and trackpad drivers. i doesn't support Linux though.
Thank you for the advice, unfortunately I knew this already and have loaded those drivers, as well as have gotten the latest bootcamp updates from apple. The sad truth is that the drivers for the touchpad are underwhelming, providing poor multitouch and right-click support. The drivers for the speakers have always been haphazard, for a while it was impossible to get more than 50% of the volume out of your computer unless you used headphones. This has been partially fixed now
@DtheS1 This comes back to apple controlling the 'whole experience' apple build the machines and operating software OSX to work perfectly with each other, that's why you don't get compatibility issues on OSX as you do with other forms operating software's, so it inst apples fault the touch pad doesn't work properly with windows 7, as it was never designed to.

So first of all, it makes almost 0 difference what is actually on the disk when the machine is booting up. All 4 of those were booting OSX, not OSX + a million programs. So, regardless of if one computer had more or less applications installed on it makes no difference.
Second, people appreciate apple computers, not because of 'an aluminum case' but because of the stability, strength and longevity of the OS vs a Windows PC.

@bphockey23 basing a tool on how pretty it is only shows the IQ level of the person buying/using it. people should be looking at puters as efficient tools to get the job done, which is 100% windows PC. such a broader range of software and hardware, to get what you want up and running with a few clicks, and you are set. no having to re-write your kernal manually all the time plus program your own drivers manually is not very efficiant. (mostly linux/unix) but mac to PC.

@stanek007 not really. my MBP i5 with intel X25M SSD starts up in about 10-13 seconds. you can always buy a macbook from the store and upgrade the hard drive and memory yourself. the ssd's apple offers are not nearly as good as the intel ones.

Still not surprised that the Core Duo beat the Core 2 Duo. Lmao. I guess dedication for the cores. A perfect example is with the new Intel Processors, sure the I7 has more cores but the processing of each core is the same. I have an I3 and an I7 based laptop, the I7 can tackle more multitasking but the I3, in my opinion can handle more essential processing.

37sec to boot (with the on button pressed before video started or whats the deal?!) ain't that good. I have a Fujitsu Q5020 (the 1,8Ghz C2D modell) with a 30GB OCZ SSD (Solid Series V.1 = the cheap and crappy one). Installed with Win 7 Ult 64-bit it takes 25sec to boot and start Explorer 8. The worst thing is that I'm still hexed by the beauty of the MacBook Air... Shit.. I think I have to get one...

Nice video, but is it possible that you didn't set the startup volume correctly on the MBAs? They take really long to show the apple with the spinning circle, something that happened to me too after changing the hard drive, because the macbook searches for a network startup first.

Also, for those looking to choose between PC and Mac. Get a Mac if you have the money and know nothing about computers- I have yet to meet a mac user that knows their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to anything computer related- accept protools, logic, final cut, garageband, and maybe some other audio/video software, most mac user buddies wouldn't be able to troubleshoot the simplest of comp issues. Decide to go PC? know that there is a certain amt of pre-education that you need.

First, you can play pc games on a mac and open .exe files- just have to VM the programs (wine,etc..) Second- Macs can get viruses, contrary to popular belief- it's just harder to hack into a mac because of its root auth requirement in order to change settings. Note to mac users: Do not use the same logins online as you do with your mac's administrator acct. Arp poisoning will give happy blackhat hacker a nice way onto your computer- goes for windows users also.

they are amazing, they have a lot of programs. a downside is that they are super expensive! another is you cant you a lot of mp3 players with mac like zune, and software has to be able to be compatible with mac. another good thing is they have a great quality webcam called isight. they are super fast. they durable too. you should go to your nearest apple store and try one out. you will be amazed, trust me lol

Typing this message on a Macbook Pro. And I am underwhelmed by the machine. I am a fairly experienced computer user, and I have my Macbook Pro triple booted with windows 7, Mac OSX, and Ubuntu Linux. I'm sorry to say that there are a handful of compatibility issues with using operating systems outside of Mac OSX. The touchpad being the primary compatibility problem, followed by the speakers and microphone. As for using Mac OSX, it is like being reduced to using some tonka toy over a real OS.

There are windows drivers for the macbook pro on the os x install disc that came with you mac. It has graphics, bluetooth, audio, keyboard, and trackpad drivers. i doesn't support Linux though.

Thank you for the advice, unfortunately I knew this already and have loaded those drivers, as well as have gotten the latest bootcamp updates from apple. The sad truth is that the drivers for the touchpad are underwhelming, providing poor multitouch and right-click support. The drivers for the speakers have always been haphazard, for a while it was impossible to get more than 50% of the volume out of your computer unless you used headphones. This has been partially fixed now

@DtheS1 This comes back to apple controlling the 'whole experience' apple build the machines and operating software OSX to work perfectly with each other, that's why you don't get compatibility issues on OSX as you do with other forms operating software's, so it inst apples fault the touch pad doesn't work properly with windows 7, as it was never designed to.
