  • I didn't realize the singer only had one hand for months...I was just like 'Why does he only use one hand all the time?"

  • Great song! It sounds a bit like "Your Silent Face" by New Order.

  • Great song! I think ts wonderful when the hardcore kids show their sensitive side. :) Please keep making good Cold Cave albums.

  • I'm just waiting for him to burst out "Love, Love will tear usss apartttt againnnnn" Joy Division puns.

  • No.1

  • Cold Cave is single handedly saving synth.

  • Without words, I like this.

  • SCREAMING GETS YOU NOTHING

  • seems as if it has been done before many times, too much unatural syth as well.

  • I love pretty xiu xiu girl at 0:57, hahaha

  • It's not often that a band does this good of a job recapturing the sound of 80's synth.

  • @meatswap Depends on the style of 80's synth, but yeah - this is pretty good for the New Order style.

I'm one of those neo-synth revivalist types... who's dabbles in everything from pads to trancey supersaws, acid riffs and those 16th note basslines. Hehe. But sometimes there's nothing like a good old fashioned mopey synthpop song.

  • 3:36 cute cat.

  • Thanks to everyone bringing up Goodbye Horses. I knew it sounded like something. It finally came to me and I came here to post it...

  • Nice Q Lazzarus - Goodbye Horses intro...

  • Buenisimos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the life is not easy.

  • I MISS AMERICAN NIGHTMARE.

  • how many haircuts you must have tried before you decide to wear the one the singer has?

  • Little known fact: Fallout Boy stole lyrics from Wes (when he was in American Nightmare/GUTG) and those douches from FOB had to pay him a bunch of money to keep it under wraps...now Wes gets to travel playing whatever shows he wants around the country, the ultimate dream for an artist of his caliber...

  • this reminds me a bit of your silent face by new order at times, and i just happen to love both songs so y'know

  • more dark minimal synth punk!!!!! Workday/Schoolnight - Selling Rebellion

  • Ian, is that you ?

  • Lovin' the beat at 3:04

  • Seeing this band live tonight :) So excited!

  • AMERICAN NIGHTMARE !!!

  • Nice New Order cover.

  • All wes music sucks, and this just proves it. So suck it you an/gutg faggots.

  • @babygurlhotdog Go bitch elsewhere.

  • going to see them in SF on my B-day!!! Yay lucky me!!! His voice soo reminds me of Bauhaus, Peter Murphy, Sisters of Mercy

  • it's awesome to see wes evolve over the years. cold cave rules and i love that max is in this!!!

  • @ratnagourney INDESCTRUCTIBLE

  • @justlikeacat WOLVES

  • Sounds like Joy Division/ New Order.

  • @marybsb88, vocals are just like Stephen Merritt!

  • @ReturnToAus In particular, reminded me of Temptation by New Order. Sounds almost like it.

  • @ReturnToAus Ever heard of Ian Curtis? Joy Division? Ring any bells?

  • @ProstheticPedro nope. why're you hipsters so bitter?

  • fuck dat niggah and his sellout stub.

  • so much bullshit comments going on the front side of this page, nonetheless ive loved everything from wes, support it, all projects come from him, whether as phases or not in his life.

  • Was good till the vocals came in...

  • joy division?

  • fuck the haters. this is Eisold at his rawest and most emotionally blunt. fuck you if you don't like it.

  • Nice homage to New Order - Temptation

  • @joeyship it will never happen he no longer cares for hardcore an AN reunion will never happen, read his book.

  • Cheer up chaps.

  • He needs to reform American Nightmare. This is killing me..he's sooo much better than this.

  • Is it just me or does he sound extremely akin to Ian Curtis here?

  • Goodbye Horses vs. Tempation vs. Joy Division... good mix. Makes me want to hide my cock right now.

  • Meh. Nothing special

  • @jline1313.... try more like Joy Division just before Ian died.

  • does anyone agree that this sounds just like new order?

  • @jline1313 yep

  • @jline1313 your silent face, written all over it.

  • @jline1313 Not really, it sounds like ian curtis and new order.

  • @jline1313 It does. Goodbye horses by Q lazzarus is what came to mind when I heard it.

  • @jline1313 totally

  • this is nothing new. its 80's rip off. it might be fresh, but it's not original.

  • Vapor Tank stomps on these guys... /watch?v=8ZMmdbYzJaE

  • A little 80's retroish. It would be great music if it was 1988 right now, but.......

  • This is much better ---- /watch?v=yG0hNi9wtEY

    I totally agree @johnnyzoom

  • Aha aha aha aha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha aha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! This shit makes me Laugh my ass off!!

  • heard them play at the coachella music festival.... holy shit they suck ass live..... and in general

  • this song is better when it's called "Temptation".

  • so much for "Love comes Quickly"

  • YOUR SILENT FACE

  • I think its cool that the guy went solo and played the kind of music he could. He only has one hand, its hard to furiously play guitar in that condition. I also welcome the return of darkwave.

  • definitely a lot closer to temptation than goodbye horses. obviously heavily influenced by joy division but a 'rip off'? nah

  • never liked his lyrics, and i guess i can expect everyone to hate me for that, but i can't help it. this is catchy, sort of. but it's also sad that he's doing this now, compared to the amazing things he did for hardcore in american nightmare. he was an AMAZING vocalist.

  • this song is better when it's called goodbye horses

  • @jemelend Agreed!

  • @jemelend it does kinda have the same chord progression

  • @jemelend hahah they did it 4 the lulz man. because how else are people going to know that you were influenced by the new wave unless you EXPLICITLY FUCKING RIP OFF THE NEW WAVE?

  • @jemelend The intro synth TOTALLY reminds me of Goodbye Horses!! But I love this song :)

  • @TheDiscoLemon Hahaha I was thinking exactly the same XD

  • This is almost an exact copy of New Order's Temptation

  • @andstric23 not really at all. the drum beat is completely different. The vocals/melody/lyrics are different. There's no bass guitar. I even know what you're on about.

  • Cocaine is a helluva drug.

  • @TheDiscoLemon Ha ha. That's exactly what I thought when I heard this song.

  • couldnt disagree more

  • i didn't realize until now that wes eisold was in this band. from hardcore to this...

  • I hear Goodbye Horses straight off the bat.

  • @JKNovoa This is the 2nd Cold Cave song that is like this (Our Tears Help The Flowers Grow being the other), they're ripping that song off hard. Still like the band though.

  • I hate you Wes.

  • Wes Eisold is a genius, but Cold Cave is not my kind of music at all. I bet most people don't even know that Wes was an amazing hardcore vocalist for American Nightmare/ Give Up the Ghost, which is really a shame. To me, his talents were much better utilized when he was in AN.

  • @thajamison i was an AN/GUTG fan since ever, and i can't agree with you, hardcore will not last forever, in our lives and in the world, there's nothing wrong following different paths.

if a kid start a hardcore band i'll be glad, if a kid leave hardcore scene for something else i can't be mad at all so i'll be glad.

  • @thajamison He ressurected hardcore with one hand.

  • @thajamison i couldn't careless what you think. thanks for sharing though;(~

  • @thajamison what the..

  • @thajamison PFFT! A genius...Quit with the hyperbole, you ignoramus. You have no concept of what true genius even is.

  • @thajamison the thing is, even when during the AN days all Wes really listened to as home was Joy Divison, so it makes sense. plus eventually you stop having things to be so angry about, i am almost thirty, wes is thirty now, we have old balls(lady balls in my case) i don't know about the genius thing, though he is a sweet guy when he wants to be.

  • @thajamison i miss AN, i still listen to them though. Some of the best hardcore ever.

  • @thajamison I agree. American Nightmare gave me shivers up my spine when I listened to them. This reminds me of bad 80s music. Long live hardcore.

  • @thajamison lol @ trying to show some sort of musical superiority with the whole "i bet you didnt know so and so used to be in so and so" shit. dom from cold cave is also known as prurient and runs hospital productions (a noise, black metal, etc, record label and physical store), but i bet you didnt know that. who gives a fuck.

  • @jacobgoldbergsongs Not to mention that: a) American Nightmare/GUTG, while a good/decent band, were the most overrated HC phenomenom since Earth Crisis. b) Cold Cave could only be considered anything other than "GOOD" by somebody totally unfamiliar with this style of music. Not really "genius" material.

  • @thajamison

at least we know he's versatile..? :D

  • This is a great cover of Temptation....

  • i think any cultured musician or lover of music, would agree that this band is both unique and amazing. somebody in the band appreciates House techno. i would love to see a list of theyre influences. probably...

    The Cure

    Depeche Mode

    Morrissey

    RadioHead

    just to guess a few..

    PlastikMan

    LadyTron [shoutout]

  • 9 people are deaf.

  • GOOOOOD BYE HORRRRSES!! oh wait wrong song.

  • @9Millaforilla ha fer realz

  • I Heard them On Acid...Can't ever forget the trip...Thank god for my ex showing me this lol... that Stupid BITCH!!

  • great music just weird to see the singer to go from give up the ghost, some girls, and then cold cave. Great music though.

  • Oahu llegar de la universidad y encontrar esto es fascinante ese sonido un contraste entre la oscuridad y la luz.

  • great song thank you i tunes genius you made it possible.what other good songs do cold cave have like this?

  • @duderucku ...that program truely is genius. i picked up on Crystal Castles and genius said well hey, you prolly dig these guys too.

  • This song is lovely. i don't care if its a soundalike. what isnt these days? I know cold cave sound like new order, you know cold cave sound like joy division. Cold cave makes me smile. I like that...

  • Your Silent Face

  • oh don't pretend that sounding like a joy division/new order hybrid is a bad thing. saying that someone has a voice like ian curtis must be the highest of compliments.

  • <3 nothing better when it reminds me of Ian Curtis.

  • sounds way more like new order's "your silent face," still awesome though

  • the lead singer looks exactly like cage aka chris palko the rapper. look it up haha

  • @lampshade796 stupid bs aside. cage was actually featured on wes' other band xo skeletons 'bored by heaven' on the track 'lascivious'. track is pretty odd. look that up instead of comparing what the two look like like a little girl.

  • i was digging the instrumentals than his voice just killed it for me! haha sound way to melancholly

  • I dig wes's new project.

Some girls and give up the ghost were good bands

  • Ian Curtis sounding ass nig.

  • Wow, I just got into this band today. Thank you K Mart commercial :D

  • they are the symptom of a larger problem.

  • It sounds like a ripoff of goodbyehorses just listing to it and you will see.

  • @lavajoe889 It is undeniably a ripoff of goodbyehorses and it's vulgar.

  • Omg this song is awesome and reminds me of mitilda(movie) lol I'm on an iPod

  • @The4nDR3W111 the danny devito movie? if so that rules.

  • i don't think there's anything wrong with being influenced by JD/NO. Even if it is extremely close to a certain song, at least people can tell that it is. maybe it'll get a new generation interested in the original bands! hell, i'm 15, and a huge fan of both the original bands and their modern counterparts.

  • There is a parachute with new order

  • @leifEvil new order on cotton candy

  • they're not influenced, they're practically copying new order..first strophe of this song you can sing "a thought that never changes remains a stupid lie, it's never been quite the same" which is new order's song Your Silent Face first strophe. also the music reminds me A LOT of The Village by NO. I dont know..I like cold cave but this is so evident.

  • 愛来閉

  • oh wow who does this remind me of? It's almost as if they are trying to rip off one certain band's from the late 70s chord progressions, front man's voice and vocal delivery and synth lines. hmm.... who could it be

  • @treefingers68 this reminds me of "Goodbye Horses" by Q Lazzarus, both songs are pretty good.

  • im just going to say the word 'fart' and i want people to like it

  • American Nightmare was better...

  • @ChrisThrough I agree. I mean i dig this but if you told me 10 years ago the guy who wrote am/pm and hearts was in this band i would have laughed in your face

  • i completely agree

  • Q lazzarus called-she wants the only redeemable ten seconds of your song that you stole, or worse yet, borrowed with no imagination- BACK. Vapid Bubble-gum goth, prrf.

  • this song and our tears help the flowers grow have a very similar intro and they both sound like goodbye horses by q lazzarus. good songs though.

  • Goodbye Horses

  • LAME LAME LAME

  • @zcallins YOU shut the fuck up.

  • as a fan of joy division since 1980 i have to say... this is great!

  • 4:18 I have those exact same glasses... Awesome...

  • sounds nice, it would sound nicer without the guitar.

  • @eyesintheroad you might like the rest of the album. it has very little guitar beyond this song.

that said, I love the guitar.

  • i like this a lot!

  • still not eneough

  • anybody who knows what kind of drummachine they use?

  • The lyrical melody comes directly from "You Silent Face" by New Order. A nice steal but your busted.

  • Sounds like early New Order.

  • I loved (still ove) JD, and NO. This is so useless

  • hha that singer was in american nightmare/give up the ghost. both badass hardcore bands this is a change. but i sorta liek it i suppose

  • i hear the smiths

  • This certainly screams New Order but I like New Order so that's a good thing :D

  • I love it! it DOES sound very New Order/Joy Division...someone on here said it was a rip off of Your Silent Face, which it does sound very similar- however I don't think it's sacrilige..as I'd much rather listen to this than say..lady gaga or kesha or any of the other stuff on the radio now

  • I thought goodbye horses was about to start playing

  • @awd1706 me too!

  • @awd1706 haha same, gives it a creepy edge at the begining

  • Sounds A LOT like Secession!

  • Sounds a lot more like Secession than New Order.

  • Saw these guys live supporting Editors. They have potential.

  • Love This.

  • this is not a revision but a rebirth to the sound that made all of you search for those years that were the most creative in your mind set but ended up being a recycled beat of those better years. lets recycle beats.

  • this is a rip off of "your silent face" by new order and it is sacriledge. wow. i am embarrassed for these guys.

  • couldnt agree more

  • so what if they sound like a new order combined with the darkness of joy division, cold cave is still a great band, not so many bands in this era makes a sound like this
