  • I just love a great massive distortion fun pedal and this puppy kills a Metal Zone, and it is true bypass and 15v internal voltage boost. I love my expensive Wampler pedals but for a $100 bucks these Hardwire Pedals are grossly underrated. If you can dial in a heavy low end not too fizzy gain wash on a Zone you will love this pedal, so much better.

You cannot judge real tone and sound on a PC compression bandwidth platform, this puppy kills on a good amp. Saves your tubes and is just INTENSE!

  • Ohh..and for those who bought this and run it Guitar=>pedal=>PC..of course it sounds horrible. You need a speaker simulator or a real cabinet and mic it...this is a problem even with high quality amps. The tone from the tubes/tranzistors/pedals..whatever are raw(st anger-metallica like) and they are usually filtered by a cabinet speaker's transformer.Guitar rig 5 software has some speaker and mic simulators, and adding this to the circuit will make the tone way better.

  • The distorsion pedal is ok,but sucks compared to an amp.But the delay pedal its worth buying

  • The tone of this thing totally blows the MXR Fullbore Metal to anther universe.

  • Guys please, this sounds horrible. Save up money for a valve amp.

  • this or a line 6 uber metal?! please respond !!!!

  • @wolf9013 uber metal,,,,,put the switch in the insane position, bass @ 3 o clock, mids and scoop all the way and highs @ 12 o clock get that slipknot tone with a solid state amp with out having a huge tube rack in your room

  • this is a good pedal gives you a lot of options like an 80s sound or a British rock metal as well for modern metal

  • right now, im using a boss ml-2 and i hate it with a burning passion. so im looking at this pedal, or the mxr fullbore. im looking for tones similar to August burns red, and more modern metal core. ive read some pretty bad things on the mxr but my friend keeps on vouching for it saying its great. please, i need help on this guys

  • 1:50 song name pleaaaaaaaaaaase

  • I bought this thing, it sounds horrible.

  • @hydralisk3313 You are right. I've got both TL2 and MT2 and they DO sound horrible. Hopefully the MT2 it can be modified and I did the Diezel Mod. Now it sounds way better than stock and the mod itself is quite inexpensive. Now I'm looking for a TL2' suitable mod.........no luck until now.

  • what song are you playing at 1:50-2:50?

  • @drigots17 killswitch engage.. cant remember the exact song. probably off of end of heartache album

  • @JAWS1349 thanks :D

  • @JAWS1349 well, I didn't find it in the end of heartache.. can you search it for me friend.. plzz ! :)

    I want that song

  • @drigots17 sorry man i havnt found it yet. i think i might have lied. its just that this tone nailed killswitch, and he played such a KSE style riff i just assumed id heard it before. either way check out Alive or Just breathing. its an early album. very raw

  • @JAWS1349 I need it so much friend.. ty anyway

  • @drigots17 the closest i could come is Self Revolution. are you just starting to learn or were you just hoping there was more to it ?

  • @drigots17 No, it's ok.. I just like the semi tone of this riff :)

    thanks

  • No talkin, just playin...

    Thats it.

  • 1:50

    what song is it?

  • better than a peavey 6505 and i own one. what a shame

  • I own the EH Metal Muff and I love that pedal. I think MM is pretty much a mutated Big Muff Pi! It's really good if you're playing a wide range of Rock/Metal music and it gives a very reliable vast range of sounds. I really prefer it to play heavier versions of old songs and it does a damn good job at it!!! But the MM CAN NOT get this much heavy distortion. So if you want to sound demonic, Hardwire TL-2 is the pedal for you. I'm thinking of buying this as well and use it along with my MM.

    \m/

  • @MrTwiZtor Metal Muff is a Boss Metal Zone with fixed mid frequency and added treble boost ;-)

  • Great demo !These are awesome pedals! Listen up people! If you "like" the hardwire pedals fan page on Facebook you have a chance to win a free hardwire effect pedal on free pedal Friday!

  • I dunno, it doesn't sound like it has enough gain for me

  • i bought this pedal a few months back. you must have a nice amp w/ and EQ coupled with it in order to achieve sounds like this video. but overall GET THIS PEDAL it rocks

  • now I get why I never see this coupled with overdrives like everything else on youtube. this thing is a beast

  • hey guys i need some real help this or the Electro harmonix Metal muff. and im not just talking about pure insane gain i meant the tone and versatility and style and everything

  • @getsuga987 I actually own both and my personal preferance is the hardwire by far. the metal muff sounds decent at low volumes but once you crank your amp (especially if its solid state) the high end gets unbearably fizzy (the top boost makes this much worse) and with the gain past about 7 it gets fuzzy and loses a lot of clarity while the Hardwire is a lot more versatile, tighter, more clear, and more natural sounding (this demo didnt do it much justice in my opinion) so ya hope I helped :)

  • @angushammet567 dayum thanks mate but actually i run the muff through my peavey bandit 112 And it sounds really well defined on full gain And i also use the gain booste on my guitar at the same time But I guess the clarity comes from my Bareknuckle warpigs Ceramic bridge btw makes the guitar very very clear even on extremely high gain

  • @getsuga987 ahh I see well hey whatever works for you :)

  • @angushammet567 still im gonna get it when i can :D

  • @Atos27 ur better off not going with a distortion pedal with the line 6 spiders. I have one and it sounds like crap with the tl2. But if u use the tl2 on a TUBE amp it sounds amazing

  • This pedal is the best. It sounds so sick with my hellraiser

  • Nice Pedal, i mean cosmetically

  • 1.50 - Name of Song Please !!

  • the riff at 1:50 is so badass. i love that little run.

  • slightly notch the parametric mid like you would a metal zone, bass about 1:00-3:00, treble around 12:00 not to get too fizzy. Kills. If you like a zone or a metal core this puppy is true bypass and voltage stepped internally. Hardwire pedals are far better than most goobers give them credit.

  • I want one! :D

  • This pedal pretty much describes my love life for the past 30 years. They're either tight or loose, making me high or low. Getting back to the pedal. Tried it today. With the right "dialage," it sounds like a sawed off shotgun and for metal, that's a good thing.

  • this has enough gain for everyone even at 9 o'clock

  • 1:23

I love that riff. What song is it?

  • @zerotheking1993 not sure, sounds something from like foo fighters or something, lol

  • @wrona003 It kicks ass :D

  • @zerotheking1993 most of these riffs are made up....

  • This has a killer tone but I like my Boss Metalzone MT-2. IMO my Boss pedal sounds better than this.

  • lovely distortion

  • why does it only have one switch for bass and treble? how does that work?

  • @ben10sk8r It is actually 2 knobs, one placed on top of the other. You cannot see it very well in this video.

  • @ben10sk8r I think your talking about the (tight & loose) switch. It actually has a 3 band eq. bass, treble, & mid with mid frequency.

  • pls anybody tell answer my question!!!What's pedal better Boss-ML-2 or Digitech Hardwire metal? I used:Stagg s300 Stratocaster with EMG Active single coil pickups

cry baby wah Line6 Spider 30watt.

  • @Atos27 all boss pedals are shit, the hardwire sounds good in this clip but you have to try it first hand to get the full effect.i personally like ballsy low end tones, check out the ibenez tube king.

  • @Atos27 the digitech hardwire metal,I have them both and I prefer the hardwire metal by alot

  • @Atos27 you're better off saving up for a cheaper marshall amp. believe me, it BLOWS line 6 away. i have a spider III 15 and a marshall valvestate hybrid amp, and the valvestate has much more clarity and a significantly brighter tone. believe me, they are older, but they blow away any amp in the price range. you could find one for like 180

  • @Magic2312 brighter isn't always better. if the amp is your source of distortion, you shouldn't get a marshall/brit tone IMO if you're looking into the tl-2 in the first place. marshall tone isn't the best for core or modern metal. And if you want clarity, it's better to change pups.

  • @Atos27 Get a MXR dime distortion.

    oh and a peavey amp.

  • the loose switch makes it sound kinda shitty. i'd always leave it on tight

  • 1:20 - 2:24

    What is that song?

  • That is the best metal distortion pedal ever heard, if youu thing im wrong tell which best to see if im wrong. I really mean the second part.

  • is this pedal good for like Periphery type shit? sounds like it would be but i havent gotten to try it out.

  • @keasaildsslog YES IT DOES !

  • that thing sounds awsome, might have to get one :)

  • guess what. in the review on same pedal in the pro guitar shop video, ppl are saying like hardwire is the worst sounding pedal ever. and here ppl are saying the opposite it seems. the interesting thing is it's the same pedal

  • whats the name of the power supply for this pedall??? i cannot find it anywhere.

  • @FatLip92 Josh you're gay.

It's been up your ass this whole time.

  • @theddrumdrummer6669 SOOK MII COOCK

  • Does anyone have the tabs from 1:20-3:10?

  • Comment removed

  • Your tone sounds pretty huge and beef with that pedal.

    I dig.

How do you find the fulltone cables?

  • Moah... Uuuuuu Yeaaah 1:25 - 3:20 Awesome Riffs !!! I will learn this

  • Yeaah.. This is Metal !!!

  • I don't know who's playing, but hearing from the riffs being played, this person sure knows what metal is...rock on!

  • guys is this pedal good for death metal???if not..what pedal do you prefer for death like kataklysm, rotting christ, arch enemy, death etc???

  • @LostAngelsjk99 look at digitech death metal distortion (digitech DDM). It seems good...i have not got it...but it seems good.

  • holy pizza. i love this sound!

  • How many w has this amp?

  • great sounding Ibanez the pedal is great to

  • if you have this pedal, try bass at 3 oclock, high at 11 oclock, mids at 12, mid freq at 10, gain at 3. it will give you a killer tone! i have videos on my channel if you want to see it in action with a live metal band

  • The most heaviest pedal that I have ever heard!

  • im using this Pedal with my Line Six spider III but i keep getting alot of background noise does anyone know how i can fix that?

  • @NeoFreeWorld

buy better cables, get a noisegate pedal.

  • @MetalMexa666 where can i get a noise gate pedal?

  • What are the settings for all the knobs from the beginning to 43 seconds.. please give all collar and regular settings... thanks

  • How much?

  • How much is this?

  • I prefer the tight!

  • I like the second setting. I also like the sound at 1:40. How do you play that?

  • Does this Pedal work well with a Spider 3 Line 6 Amp?

  • @NeoFreeWorld Why would you get a distortion pedal this heavy if you're using a Line 6 when it has CRAZY GAIN? I'd get a better amp though.

  • @NeoFreeWorld amazingly. gives you a wide range of what to play, but might i recommend trying something "Br00tal"

  • @NeoFreeWorld dude i'd say try using the pedal while the amp is on the clean settings to bring out the distortion from the pedal itself and not from the line 6 amp. i'm not much of a fan of the Insane setting from line 6 amp. at least with the pedal you can tweak different distortion settings to get to the right tone you're looking for.

  • @CerealKiller5150 i figured it out but thanks

  • ok i'm very confused on pedals because i'm pretty new to them. so i'm really not sure if i should get the Boss mt-2 or this pedal in the vid. i dont have a tube amp so i'm not sure if that would make a big difference.

so can someone please give me a rundown of the differences and stuff like that? thanks. much appreciated!

  • @somethingmusical I would recommend you try them both yourself. I got the metal zone, and i am very happy i did :) That's my advice.

  • got some cool sound.

  • i always watch the proguitar shop demo, then tonefactor because tonefactor plays heavier stuff \m/

  • I might suggest that if you use a solid state amp, the distortion pedals with a tube in them work very well.

  • This pedal is absoluteley brutal. I'm getting it next week.

  • would this pedal work well with a line 6 spider 3???

  • @064panik I will be running mine through a Spider IV 75. You have tou get the amp as clean as possible to make it sound good. You want minimal use of the shitty digital preamp, or it will butcher your pedal's sound.

  • Lost in the mix on its own! Good job!

  • hey i just bought this thing yesterday what are the best settings for like the stuff your playing here? i cant get mine to sound like that.

  • I have this pedal. I need a good metallica tone from the 80s(...And Justice For All and Master of Puppets) and a Black album tone and a Death Magnetic tone. Today I've worked 3 hours and I'm Still not satisfied.

  • @xAcidPrisimx try the line 6 ubermetal

  • @xAcidPrisimx just take all of the middle out of yoUr amp

  • hey would this be great for a line 6 and a schecter with seymour duncan pickups?

  • and i thought the boss metal zone was good..... yea right!

  • wow. The tone. is soo....intense. I play a peavey 5150 and the tone on this almost matches some of my settings. 0:32 sounds tube 0:58 sounds solid state

  • i own this pedal,so versatile and awesome!

    sounds badass.

  • Would this work thru a JCM 800 and keep the tube tone?

  • @theShowStopper321 define "tube tone"

  • @theShowStopper321 y would u want to play it through a JCM 800????...the apms killer enough!!! :)...wish i had enough money for one!!!

  • @smehtarocks I don't want to use one thru my amp. At low volumes the amp doesn't kick into gear, so u need to use something to drive it harder. I use an EQ with level boost in the loop to drive the power section and I sometimes use a stomp box in front of the amp, but I would use an overdrive or light distortion pedal before a metal distortion.

  • if you can make this pedal sound good, then you dont need to practice. seriously, it sounds like every other crappy metal stompbox out there. get a engl or a framus if you want "in your face" metal distortion.

  • @custommustangak Well they are nice but I dont have thousands of dollars lying around to spend.

  • @machapu u talkin about the petal or that crap that guy was talkin about?

  • i like it. its got that thickness yet you can change it idk i just like the sound :D

  • Still nobody can tell us the song from 1:41

  • @Hendrixidol hmm i think bullet for my valentines , scream im fire : ) bullet for my valentine it is by the way : D , go and listen : P

  • the loose seems like the sound you'd get if you had it on the neck pickup

  • sounds very cold and plastic IMO.

check out the ehx metal muff. vey warm and brutal metal distortion pedal!

  • Anybody here some humm on the puppy when not playing? Most of the hardwire lineup is real quiet when not struming.

  • doesn't have much gain and doesn't work well with other pedals IMO

  • well, therfore it sounds more like "natural distortion". very warm and u can level up the lows without any mudd.

it doesnt have true bypass which is a minus , though.. =/

  • This pedal says it has true bypass on the web page?

  • @jaki54321 this pedal yes,

i was referring to metal muff and zombie rectified.

    ;)

  • @Winterhe4rt oh oops im sorry i feel like a jerk now xD

  • Just got this pedal today, sounds huge!! Reminds me of the amt california, minus the stupid cab emulator.. def captures the mesa boogie tone i was going after... Took awhile to dial out some shrillness, tones of gain for u metal heads!! Im only running it at 50%

  • wht pedal could sound as mors principium est?

  • it seems like nobody likes the loose switch?? hahaha myself included

  • @jesusmyking1988 in loose mode and more bass, you can do some fuzz sound)

  • @cantor2145 thats excatly what i use the loose channel for

  • does a pedals sound wear down over time?

  • sounds great !!

  • I have my mind pretty much set on buying this but of course now Im having second thoughts cause IDK if itll sound good through my amp..I have a Fender Frontman 212 100watt... thoughts???

  • @ar19non89e hey man! i have one coming my way now!! i'll let ya knw when i get it and try to do a demo on it! I dnt play metal, just wanted the mesa/rectified sound for harder rock stuff.. my amp is a modded crate gt65, so its similiar to what u got

  • @jesusmyking1988

hey man, I bought it anyways....i blew my mind. I love it! You will not be disappointed. it sounds amazing. I jst cant wait to get a tube amp to run it through

  • Holy nice sounds metal !

  • boss metal zone or this

  • @isaiah756

    this

  • @isaiah756 This.

Its alot more raw Only problem with this pedal is that there are to many sounds so you always finding yourself changing the knobs in the studio constantly rofl

  • thats why parametric eqs are awesome

  • @skillet000red

The tight/loose switch is cool to.

I would personally never ever use the loose setting because it is honestly horrific. I'd only use it if i purposely wanted to make my guitar sound bad So its good if you know what tone you want

Big muff tones to edgy thrash riffs!

  • the loose doesnt sound bad if u set it up right if all you do is flick the switch then yeah it does but after you flick it you have to mess with the eq again to get it set up properly for that mode

  • @skillet000red Fair enough

But personally i'd only use it for Black Sabbath

    Or some DOOM Metal bands.

    And grunge.

  • what is a song 1:40

    ??? Awesome

    What is a riff ???

  • 1:40 nice riff awesome Yeaah !!

    Tl2 Metal Distortion !!!

  • 0:46 nice sound... awesome

  • I looked at the video again, and the metal muff is more powerful. Digi's r better than boss to me. U cud get a punk sound outta the muff too.

  • Let me just say this demo does no do the pedal justice, its a good demo but this pedal sounds awesome live. It sounds a little twangy in this demo. Ill post a demo.

  • Comment removed

  • @BboyArpeggios ya i have the metla muff and it sounds a lot heavier than this this sounds like more for punk and rock not as much metal

  • so if i want a cannibal corpse sound, thats what i should get?

  • digitech death metal distortion :)

  • @thomascatlett555 - if you want the Cannibal Corpse tone, get the Digitech Metal Master, but make sure to have a power adapter for it, as it eats batteries like they were cheetos. LOL Jack Owen, formerly of Cannibal, now with Deicide, used the Metal Master. Put the morph knob at about 1:30 or 2 o'clock and it NAILS the Cannibal tone.

  • cannibal corpse uses the boss metal zone..

  • and nobody knows why...

    oO

  • I just bought this beast! It is hands down 100% the best pedal i have ever owned. You have to tweak the eq, a little goes a long way, i play it with the bass all the way up the treble all the way down and the mid frequency is where the most noticeable difference is made, the top changes the frequency and the bottom changes how much of the frequency is cut,.

Im running this pedal through a fender super-sonic that im using as a preamp into a marshall 1959rr...the tone is EPIC

  • how much was it?

  • $129 at samash

  • $100 at GC

  • fucking killer///

someone knows how it works with wah and other pedals?

  • I'm so buying this thing!

  • hmm looks like an improved version of boss' MT2

  • Damn this thing has tons of gain for a distortion pedal.

  • ...what? distortion pedals are supposed to have a lot of gain...

  • Yeah um, not as much as an amp does. A metal should usually have way more gain. The thing is that pedals that have a lot of gain tend to start sounding like shit after adding a lot of gain. This thing is awesome.

  • alright.

    im gettin this one

  • .Great job!

I have been having a tough time on choosing a good metal pedal, i think this helps!
