I have rode a rearing horse and she was a pain in the rear and I got so rough with her when she done that kind of thing and we never got hurt all you got to do is feel how the horses body movements are and you can feel when they are going to do something and you know what there going to do but the horse that reared with me would get over and undered and spun and kicked hard becuz we did not accept that kind of behavior but not as rough as some people could be we were mild to what some people do.
