Never been much of a fan of FF but I haven't played any of them since the ones on PS1 lol so this one does look very interesting. I wouldn't say the graphics are dogshit in general...just on console. Consoles can handle next gen graphics at all. It is a very buggy game though, a lot of times enemies don't attack, people walk in circles...dumb shit. As far as the best RPG ever, I think Fallout 3 has the right to that title =)

Listen man its all in your taste, I played both and they are both amazing. Skyrim has so much more choice then ffxii-2 and you can do whatever you like, in ffxii-2 its has full render cutscenes and feels like a movie sometimes but thasts okay i enjoy that. Ffxiii-2 also has drama and stuff where skyrim is a mans game, no emotion just gore and action but still maintains a role playing aspect where as ffxiii2 is more for the graphics, cutscenes and story line.
The first J-RPG I remember playing is Super Mario: Legend of the Seven Stars. The first A (American) RPG I remember playing is KOToR. The difference? Not a whole lot, seeing as they're both RPGs, but if you really look at it, J-RPGs and A-RPGs greatly differ. It's no wonder Japan isn't pumping RPGs out, over here, like they used to because our tastes have differed. Why settle for Record of Agarest War when you can play Mass Effect 2? Why settle for Final Fantasy XIII-2 when you can play Skyrim?
I also own both games and my first RPG was final fantasy on the original NES. I can tell you that Skyrim is a much larger world q.e.d. much more exploring which is lacking in alot of RPGs. I love Final Fantasy (even the shitty ones) but I'll be playing Skyrim for quite awhile.
I though it was a pretty funny Video, I have Both Games, Skyrim for PC (which has Awsome Graphic), and FF-XIII-2 for PS3 (which has way better graphics than the 360 version).Both games a great on their own genera, FF is J-RPG, Skyrim is U-RPG. Final Fantasy games are great for their Story, and graphics. U-RPG games are not great story wise, but do offer you a the feel that you are creating the story and giving you a limitless world.
So i my opinion again they are both great games :D

FF is a realy childish game... I used to like FF games, when i was 12... I mean, skyrim isn't THAT good neither, but at the least the story is mature.
Starting with FF X there was no more role playing left in the FF series (witch was never that hardcore in that department), and everything after FF III/VI was a just a sinking ship (due to colliding with the great iceberg named cut-scene).
The closest any video-game came to the RPG ideals was Deus Ex (the original from 2000) and even it was just a tangent point.
Menus, spreadsheets, levels, inventories, skills do not make an RPG.

But I am a huge Final Fantasy fan, and have been for a couple of years now, playing I, II, IV, VII, XI, X, XII & XIII, so I think I know what I'm talking about and Skyrim is awesome and one of the best RPG's ever made but if SE had "experience out of the ass" then how did they fuck up XIII?
Final Fantasy XIII was objectively the best FF. They created a new engine (crystal tools) that have a utility lifespan of a predicted 2 gens. They used some MUCH needed experimentation, with the graphics, art styles, battle system, linearity, etc. These may not have been "good" to old final fantasy "fans", but for the company it was relevant. They have a new engine, and a staff of 300 or so that can use it thanks to XIII.

final fantasy is a great rpg for the people who like the point click type of action because all you have to do is click your move and attack. but in skyrim with downgraded graphics and early release problems but you can pick other weapons and have to shoot attack etc. *personaly im a skyrim style rpg player bc i like first persons and third person shooter rpgs.

both are great games but I personally prefer final fantasy over elder scrolls any day. I just don't find walking around in a big open world finding things to do more entertaining than a game that focuses you with a story and always putting out objectives in front of you so you know what you should do next.

Final Fantasy XIII was objectively the best FF. They created a new engine (crystal tools) that have a utility lifespan of a predicted 2 gens. They used some MUCH needed experimentation, with the graphics, art styles, battle system, linearity, etc. These may not have been "good" to old final fantasy "fans", but for the company it was relevant. They have a new engine, and a staff of 300 or so that can use it thanks to XIII.

Final Fantasy 13 doens't really mean the director had 13+ games of experience.
His first games were sequels of classics like FF7, FFX, and even FF4. Remakes and ports to portable systems. The new director of FF is complete shit, Anyone that liked FF12 and FF13 is just a square fanboy.

final fantasy is a great rpg for the people who like the point click type of action because all you have to do is click your move and attack. but in skyrim with downgraded graphics and early release problems but you can pick other weapons and have to shoot attack etc. *personaly im a skyrim style rpg player bc i like first persons and third person shooter rpgs.

How does Skyrim go from being your number 3 game of 2011 to being complete garbage? Thats not a little too far? Everyone has different tastes but FFXIII-2 is not in the same league as Skyrim. Really wish Square would focus on Versus XIII or kingdom Hearts 3.

both are great games but I personally prefer final fantasy over elder scrolls any day. I just don't find walking around in a big open world finding things to do more entertaining than a game that focuses you with a story and always putting out objectives in front of you so you know what you should do next.
