When I was younger I always worried about there not being the 747 when my children were older, I have a one year old little boy now and I'm happy that he will grow up and still fly the 747, maybe his own children will too.

Not too sure the execs. at Seattle will be sleeping so well. Whilst orders for this are reasonable, orders for the 747-8I are abysmal. But having flown the A380, I can see why it is gaining so many more orders. It may not be the prettier bird but it's the future in terms of passenger comfort and profitability. Maybe Boeing ought to focus on the freighter given the lack of competition.

I find it intereting how the Europeans think people in America should be impressed with their Airbus A380 ... Why? ... It's only slightly larger than the 747-8 ... and it took you guys only 40 years to FINALLY build a Jumbo Jet ... FOURTY (40) years ... Think twice before you pat yourselves on the back ...

the a380 only has thrust reverse on the two inner engines cause its much larger then the 747-8 - if all engines would have been equiped with thrust reverse the outer engines would spin around gras aside from the tarmac

As soon as Lufthansa get´s their first 747-8i i buy a ticket quick as hell on any long haul flight. If only the 747-8 had come before the ugly A-380 then Boeings order books would have been full by now. Makes me wonder how many airlines today regret that they bought the A-380, i guess MANY MANY.

the jumbo jet is back and better than ever. the difference between the airbus a380 and the all new 747 is that the a380 does a lot of things brilliantly but the beautiful boeing does everything brillantly

4x thrust reverser could mean shorter stopping distance than a380, the a380 has 4 engine but only have 2 thrust reverser. I guess the passenger version of this plane also has 4 thrust reverser

This is amazing and it is a wonderful achievement. I have always been an enormous fan of all 747s. I have flown on so many. I am so glad they have now built and flown the 747-8 freighter.
