  • Aw, this story was so beautiful. I can actually see the Silver Lady reaching into the fire and gently pulling the little rabbit out to cradle in her embrace.

You have such a way with words. All your stories make me smile. You're amazing.

  • Loved this story. Loved you makeup-it accentuated your features when you told the story. You, know, it kinda reminded me of Kabuki Theatre....

  • I absolutely love your stories. So perfectly delivered and with topics that relate to life, philosophy, and wisdom, while entertaining to the upmost posability. Thanks you SisterUnity. :)

  • You're such a fantastic story teller! ...and so much more interesting than studying for my midterms.

  • May you imbibe easily that which you will need for your midterms. May you execute them deftly and cleverly. Then may you party your brains out of your blessed skull.

  • what about the rabbit's friends, did they starve?

  • Why no! The Moon, for their generosity, she gave them each a Buick and a life time coupon to Taco Bell!

  • Thanks for the story and the extended happy ending.

  • The most beautiful story and told with absolute beauty. Oh and I just love your eyelashes!

  • ..and in due time, they both died. The end to every story there is.

    XOXOXOXO

  • And that's how a small rabbit with a heart as big as the world can be seen on the nights of full moon reminding us that sometimes it's important to give without looking to whom with the love that comes from inside of ourselves.

I'm being a little loose on the details, this is how much I remember, because this story was told to me when I was little, in fact, this legend is shown in books on schools as an example of what a legend is, in my opinion, a very good example.

  • Thank you with all my heart for telling me the story, Bunny.

  • O.k. this is the Mexican legend of"The rabbit on the moon"

One time the good Quetzalcoatl, the big and good god, wanted to travel the world as a human being, he walked a long and he soon felt hungry and tired, but he kept on walking and walking until the stars shined bright on the sky and the moon started to peak out on the window of the heavens above. Then he sat down at the side of the road and rested for a while to catch up his breath, when suddenly a small little rabbit came out to eat.

  • -What are you eating? - Quetzalcoatl asked.

-I'm eating grass-the rabbit replied-do you want some?

-Thank you, but I don't eat grass-the god replied showing his gratitude to this kindhearted offering.

-Then what are you going to eat?-asked the rabbit.

-I will die of hunger and thirst I guess- the god replied with sadness.

The rabbit hoped close to him and told the big and good god.

-I'm nothing more than a little rabbit, but if you are hungry, then eat me, I'm here for you.

  • The big and good gods Quetzalcoatl pet the little rabbit and said:

-maybe you are nothing more than a rabbit, but the entire world is going to remember you forever.

And he took the little rabbit on his hands and he hold him up, up on the sky until the rabbit touched the moon and his figure was portrait on the moon, he put the rabbit back on the earth and said:

-There is your image on the light for all men to see and all the times to witness.

  • Can you tell stories that were from Japan? I absolutely love folklore!

  • Actually, though I first heard the Rabbit in the Moon story in a Hindu context, I have encountered that story in Japanese storytelling and believe it may be Japanese. Pardon my lack of aclarity on this this.

Suggestion: Something about Hanuman? I don't know if there's a myth about him that would work as a stand-alone, but I couldn't help thinking of Hanuman and his open heart and his mischief when watching and listening to your stories.
