I always believed "The Velvet Rope" CD (1997) wasn't just about Janet waking up to a period of depression, one day. That CD let me know she was suppressing (and still is) a LOT. But, just like her marriage to Rene Elizondo.....she has to lie to protect the safety of her child. I mean, remember MJ covering the faces of his children with masks? Who can blame him, if he fears someone will kidnap them, or constantly exploit them, like he was---when HE was a child?

Im just watching all these videos on the De Barges and it seems like they are very close to the Jacksons more than we every known in the past. It's like they grown together since Jermaine brought them into the Jackson lives and they never been apart since then. WOW!...The 2 families together is huge and the reason why they will never be a part is because of Janet and James daughter together other than that theres no real reason why they should stay together as a family unit. I remember the show FAME, too with her on it. I also remember the guy who played Leroy saying that she was pregnant. There was also an interview with Jackie Jackson's first wife, Enid with Hard Copy or one of those tabloid shows which said that Janet has a daughter but she never seen her. There were pictures of Janet before the Jimmy Jam connection and Control album where she looks pregnant. That woman was pregnant. when the rumor surfaced it was said that the child was being raised in Europe.

While I do not believe that Omar is the child of Janet and James, I believe that there may be something to the urban myth about Ms. Jackson at least being pregnant by Mr. Debarge at sometime. I recall Janet's last episode of Fame (early 80's), where she's at the piano singing. I noticed that they only shot her from the chest up for all of her scenes. Before I even heard one rumor, I said that I thought she was pregnant. This was before she recorded "Control" & before stepped out of MJ's shadow.

its an urban legend but even if it was true whose to say that they have to say anything a relationship is between to people not them and the whole world. Janet and James know what happened between them leave it be; their relationship and privacy is important to them it is not up to El or anyone to say the shoulda coulda woulda because we just dont know and are basing things off of pure assumptions made by the media, maybe something bad could have happened who knows;its not something to tell.

Brandi Jackson (Jackie's "adopted" daughter) is Janet and James daughter. The Jacksons and Debarge family are so talented, so loved, and they have alot of secrets.

@liacashmere58 well if you noticed Mama Debarge never really said it was a girl. even when her own son Young Debarge went on Hot97 radio and told Miss Jones there was a daughter, the only statement Mama Debarge made was "i knew she was with child, she was heavy... i have a instinct i can tell". the way Mama tells the urban legend is that Janet went overseas without James at that time. therefore really they had no idea whether it was a boy or girl born. and even after all those pics of Brandi....
