  • Why there are no more players like the old ones?

  • :D meu professor flo qeu um dia eu vou tocar assim

  • :D meu professor flo que um dia eu vou tocar assim

  • great piano playing....considering the circumstances....

  • GENIOOOO

  • The crisp, rapid staccato and the ghostly sound. I see them, yet don't believe them.

  • muy refinado! genial

  • I love Gitlis. He plays with heart. Beautiful interpretation.

  • @wooo341 really? then you dont understand the way Gitlis approached violin playing. not like a robot, but rather like a painter.

  • that up bow staccatto blows my mind

  • no its a 3-4 violin...lol

    of course a 4-4 and a strad...

  • I must admit, at first I was a bit confused and didn't really like this interpretation. After watching it a couple of times I started to appreciate it more and more. Thanks for showing this remarkable interpretation!

  • What an achievement!

    wow :O

  • is that a full size violin?

  • @vuth94 a 4/4? i think so...........but it's truth that it looks smaller ._.

  • @wooo341

I think your opinion is sloopy. Snoopy.

  • No matter how much I like Gitlis's playing, I would hate to be the person accompanying him. >_> That.... seems as though it would be demanding on at least five more dimensions than accompaniment usually is. Janpoulo deserves many awards for being able to follow this performance.

  • @wooo341 you've got to be kidding....

  • ummmmmm The best violinist I've ever heard........ I'll trade the style and sound for every note being out of tune..... It is so incredible...

  • everybody has its own interpretation of this piece. ivry gitlis is a student of carls flesch... So we can say ivry cannot be questioned in his intelligence of this music same as jascha...

  • my god this is so fucking good....this is the real staccato my friends....

  • @wooo341 La capricieuse refers to what? A capricious girl or woman perhaps. Theirs whims are sloppy and whimsical by definition. So Heifetz should study women to be more authentic ;)

  • how to learn this staccato?

  • @dududevynidu

    Slowly! :)

  • @dududevynidu its looks like a mix between sautille and ricochet bowing...

  • he has this fantastic staccato but his pulse is so fast that he has to play rubato, actually starting a bit later ,so that he doesn;t finish too early.you may say that this is a compromise (he can't play slower staccato) but he is so unique that you excuse him.he is one of the last great old fashioned violinists of our time and I love listening to their art rather than all those modern globalized violinists.

  • holy shit thats the fastest iv heard this played

  • For me Kavakos and he have the best staccatos.

  • Stop with this Poor pianist thing Plz!!!!why poor pianist??? Great Pianist!!!!!!! He knows what he is doing!!!! Giving soloist Full accurate support!!!! Praise him!! dont Pitty him, hes a Great one !!!!

  • what a fantastic mix of humor and skills! poor pianist though...

  • Main Entry: ca·price

    Function: noun

1 a : a sudden, impulsive, and seemingly unmotivated notion or action; stresses the erratic, irresponsible character of the notion or desire

  • Brillanter Chardas

  • @wooo341 There's a robot playing a violin if your interested. Type in "toyota robot violinist" . . . . . .

  • @wooo341

heifetz has a great performance of this piece. but if you want something more refined, perhaps you should hear a computer playing it?

  • @dkurgano well said

  • Gitlis brings such a unique character to every piece he plays.

  • shindler

  • wonderful!!!

SIMPLEMENTE SOBRENATURAL E INCOMPRENSIBLE.

  • not only clean and clear, very tasteful, too.

  • @jiamo agreed, Rabin has a great one also!

  • There may be a lot of violinists that can play an up-bow staccato just as fast but very, very few that can play it as clean and clear.

  • because he is Français.

  • This is the best staccato, from all that I saw!!!!!

  • @harut49 On the face of it perhaps but staccato is much easier really fast . if he played in time thus slowing the stacc. passages down it becomes more difficult.

  • 100% french! :)

  • His jew

  • awesome

  • always something new/diff to gitlis interpretaton - lovely

  • My God...is this normal? Interpretation and technique are so profound. Sometimes a bit controversial, and sometimes he misses a note or two. But Mr. Gitlis interpretation is so unique and trilling, its a treasure and beyond what we ever would expect. Its a miracle. Mr. Heifetz and Mr. Gitlis should walk hand in hand on this piece...but Mr. Gitlis has my credit to lead the way of His Masters Voice.

  • love 2:56 -3:00 !!

  • Bravo!

  • wow amazing bow control!

  • this staccato is not human

  • Técnica fantástica como siempre, pero el ritmo desapareció!

  • What a brilliant staccato

  • hes like got a fast fowarding machine for a brain and super fast fingers to go with it

  • that was truly capricious!!!!! Love Ivry!

  • ....poor, poor pianist :\

  • Gitlis forever! A unique violinist and human being. May he get at least 120 and go on playing and teaching a search for individuality.

  • i just had a masterclass with Mr. Ivri Gitlis in Sweden, he is 86 and he still plays that well as he did it before, great person full of live and music.

  • how could i get in touch with him to get a class myself?

  • He's 87 now! lol

  • Jesus Christ!!! This is..... Great!!!

  • jueputa, ese estaccato lo aceleraron jejejejeje, IMPRECIONANTE

  • maestro Gitlis! mandate pedazo de stacatto. genial!

  • haha, his famous airbows

  • very good staccato! amazing!, and his big sound in B theme! i like very good

  • egyiknek se volt milyen staccatoja!

  • The most beautiful sound of the violin!!

Ivry Gitlis, may you live forever!!!!

  • Oh my god!i thought i could play the violin until i saw this ,he he!!

  • Astonishingly free and virtuosic. It leaves me breathless and speechless. Gitlis is one genius violinist/artist like few others. Thank you for posting this. Bravo.

  • idegroncs

  • hard staccato! incredible

  • Come sento era già musicalmente un pessimo violinista da giovane..

  • Comment removed

  • il piu grande

  • Never heard the Elgar go like that! I don't always agree with Gitlis's way with a piece, but there is always something to admire, and at his best, all you can do is gape open mouthed.

  • Amazing! But poor pianist!

  • surely you must be joking! Tasso Janopoulo is one of the best accompaniests of the century! Frequently played with Szeryng, Thibaud, Grumiaux, Milstein, etc.

And, more surely, anyone that can follow gitlis should be hailed for this skill :)

  • I know it's a very good accompanist, I've seen quite often with the violinists you mention. I was joking about Gitlis beeing so free rythmically and probably quite hard to follow...

  • I think victorfb01 means the pianist have a hard time following Gitlis.

  • this is the most quickly staccatto that i heard !! thats really amazing and also the vibrato

  • Interesting playing! Can we imagine it was almost 50 years ago! And I saw this Master playing beautifuly two years ago in a Tokyo recital. What a longevity.

Also, his Capricieuse is really capricious! ! Fantastic!

  • His my favorit violinist for this peace.. he don`t care if it is out of tune, he just plays, and he does fantastic!

  • OOOOOhhhhh...! Beautiful...

  • Wow! He is amazing!

  • O M G this is just as impressive as beautiful

  • What a staccato!!!

  • Ivry Gitlis was born on August 22, 1922, in Haifa, Israel, to Russian parents. He is considered one of the most talented musicians of his generation, and many of his recordings are considered classics.

For me Gitlis is probably the best violinist ever, (After Paganini) and even better than Heifetz

  • Actually, I will agree with you. Heifetz was amazing, and his technique was better than Ivry's, but he did not have that unique sound and that character. I would pick Ivry over Heifetz!

  • Yes, In Deed, Have you got Gitlis versions of paganini works? I think Gitli's recordings of Paganini's works are the best I've ever heard!!

  • No I haven't. I must say I haven't got any CD's of Gitlis, but I was hoping to get his recording of the 24 caprices. What do you think?

  • I have the cd: Ivry Gitlis Le Violon du Diable, and contains paganini's caprices nos, 20, 21 and 24, and I love the way he plays that works my dear kris...

  • paganini 24 caprices cd is widely available. its very good, not as good as some other stuff though. his paganini concerto no.1 is out of this world. i think its at least 2-3 minutes shorter than any other recording if that gives you a clue :)

  • omg you've seen/listened to paganini :O:O:O:O?!?!?

  • What r u talkin about:O:O:O:O:O?!?!?

  • "For me Gitlis is probably the best violinist ever, (After Paganini) and even better than Heifetz " he said this and in my question there was for sarcasm (pardon my french)because how can he decide paganini is the best violinist without listening to him I hear many people saying this nonsense, ok? >_>

  • ok... now i understand

  • Da brivido, come sempre..con la sua inconfondibile e personalissima impronta..picchettato da fuori di testa,di una bizzarria pari solo alla sua sfolgorante natura di musicista.

  • now THAT is a staccato....shit, I gotta go practice...

  • Thanks!
