  • Your a graet teacher love you tutorials. My favorite part of this video was when you mentioned the purists and about how it doesnt matter what lens you use. I laughed to myself when you said that.

  • I am new to photography and have just bought a Tamron 70-300mm lens to go with my Nikon D3100. Your video has been a big help. Can't wait to get shooting! Thank you.

  • Thank you for backing up my theory on using a zoom for portraits and close ups! I have been using mine ( which I love.) and recently had a photo published in a calendar. As you say, the purists will say to use a macro or prime for these shots, but i simply don't tell them I used a zoom. They didn't seem to notice or care,..lol

  • simply awesome!!!!! I am just an amateur.... and this video is really helpful. Thanks a lot for uploading!!!!!!!

  • @ralphroc Sorry :-)

  • @ralphroc Sorry about any damage to your bank balance - but delighted you find this useful :-)

  • Interesting clip, I was recently reading about something similar on thephotographyclinic (.) com

  • What lens are you using if you don't mind me asking? It looks like it would be very versatile. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.

  • @tropicallanterns Thanks for your comment. This particular lens is a Tamron 18-270. Very versatile as you say - but image quality is soft around the edges at extreme apertures and focal lengths. As a lens to have on the camera when you go for a walk or holiday it's great - but for fine detail professional work it doesn't quite make the grade.

  • this is a great explanation of a technique that not a lot of people know about. well worth practicing.

  • Hey thank you for your kind words people :-) Cheers... Mike
