Best & probably worst gigs I ever saw were Van Halen. Newcastle City Hall '79, they rocked all their great songs; two albums worth at that time, destroyed the place and looked like they enjoyed every minute of it, just fucking awesome. One year later; same place, delayed getting started, seemed like DLR & EVH were stoned D, Hyper, forgetting words and E couldn't be arsed, just sat around loads to play. Would love to see Van Halen play in the UK again sometime soon coz they're still the muts nuts

Now only the rhythm section still sounds the same. Dave is either too old or worn out to sound the same. Ed's tone has changed for the worse. Here, everything sounds so pristine. The 1984 tour was a great show, but the music was almost secondary. This is the way Van Halen should sound. The music mattered here. The notes mattered, even though this is one of my least favorite VH songs. The videos from this tour are the best they ever did. Sammy did better albums though.
