My brother-in-law is a retired US Navy fighter jock (I'm a retired Surface Warfare Officer) and my sister bought him a ride in this thing for his 60th birthday. That's been about ten years ago now, and as I recall it was around $400 then. From what I understand, the "aggressor" pilot kind of got agitated from having his tail repeatedly greased by someone with comparable if not superior skills. Some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you.

@AllisterCaine - your so wrong. I've done both, F-18 and Marchetti...only difference is speed and Marchetti's are unable to hold / sustain a turn [as in g's] because of prop. Don't comment unless you've given it a try.

Yeah flying an airplane or a helicopter is one of my goals... unfortunately i have a fear of heights... oh the irony.

@Runies1 Don't let that stop you!!! I have the biggest fear of heights....I froze on the stairway to heaven (mil obstacle course) and it took me a while to rappel off building tops. Man, I still quiver on a 10 foot ladder.

Ironically, I've been flying for 16 years....helicopters (doors open), light and large aircraft, fixed wing jet...

@Runies1 Dont worry about your fear of heights! I am afraid of heights, I get scared whenever I go on a roller coaster or up a tall flight of stairs. Now I am a student pilot with over 30 flight hours in my logbook and althought I always was a frequent airline flyer, once I started flying airplanes myself, my fear quickly vanished, at least while in a plane. A few months ago I even went skydiving for the first time, best experience ever! Go ahead and start flying!!!!

I think in a real close in fight you need a lot more deflection. By the time your bullets are there he's gone. In the late 6 minutes he forgot the dictum "Lose sight lose the fight"
