same problem as below, though my maschine stopped working with traktor before and I tried this layout as a remedy but still no dice. Also, when importing the machinepro2.tsi, I'm only presented with the option for the controller mappings, with the hotkeys requiring a seperate import.
This is awesome, but for some reason when i import it into traktor with my numark mixtrack pro it messes up the repeat button for side B. when i push the toggle repeat button for the b side it stops the track on A or goes to the cue point in A... any ideas?
@ohhiimchris yeah you need to go to the controller manager and set the in and out ports for each controller separately. Make sure nothing is set to "All Ports"
Is there a way to cue without the sync button automatically coming on and also why when I import does it only give me one option to click which is controller mappings

@jamestrystan Thanks! - there are 5 cue points you can retrigger. If you want to stop on a cue point use the bottom group buttons (E-H) or if you want the deck to keep playing use the top group buttons (A-D). Just keep in mind A-D will turn off timecode control since its made for internal mode DJing
Got a chance to jam on one of these about 5 months ago. Im pretty well set on getting one at this point. It feels as good as most of the MPCs Ive used. I still like my 5000 for home use tho. Native Instruments is kickin' a whole lotta rump in the controller industry!

@milkmirror Its "Traktor" not "tracktor" (Pet Peeve of mine). Yes, I took out the other options in order to not mess up peoples settings. I am going to make some changes to the mapping and fixes in the next couple weeks
@sofakinggoodtracks no, but if you are using it in a gig or club environment it would help the sound quality, heck save yourself some money and buy the audio 2, it would work just the same.
For some reason Traktor only recognizes my Maschine controller when I reinstall the latest driver. I've tried multiple things for this issue including uninstalling both traktor and maschine. I've repaired my disk permissions and all others. Any recommendations?
I defintitely like the mapping overall, but I can't stand your layout settings, etc, and I can't figure out how to get mine back. I can't figure how to get the extended view where you can adjust cue points, gridding, etc.

@zubinmg Right, Maschine is just a USB controller, so you'll still need an audio interface. If you've got an extrenal mixer, you'd run deck A output into channel 1, deck B into channel 2, etc. Be sure to set Traktor to External Mixing mode. I'm using a MIDI Mixer (Faderfox DJ2) for volume & EQ, Maschine for EFX, Transport, Loops. This is in Internal Mixing mode. You COULD just run your laptop output into the mixer, but you couldn't headphone cue, and it would sound like crap on larger systems.

@analher Even though this video was made using Traktor Pro, it works the same on Traktor Pro 2. Just follow along with the video step by step and everything will work. With the X1's you just plug them in and the mappings will load automagically
@DubSpot could you please make a tutorial or tell me in a other way how to assign the faders and crossfader on the knobs i just can´t find out how to do this in the controller editor :( i´ve just got the maschine and no mixer so i really need to know!!
@jmotter92 you can assign the faders and knobs to different controls on the maschine but you would have to delete the mappings I did for those knobs. Unless you really know what your doing with the controller manager I wouldn't recommend doing this. Maybe just try mixing with the mouse. I do this all the time at afterparties. I use my maschine and mix with the mouse and plug my computer into the TV in my hotel room. Works like a charm :) Plus those endless encoders don't work well for faders
@MrLouieRock Check the ports in Preferences - Controller Manager - Click the Device Dropdown Menu - select the Maschine mapping and make sure the in and out ports are set to Maschine controller
@pingtrip77 I have supplied you guys with 2 mappings. One mapping uses the preview player and the other mapping does not. You might have the mapping that doesn't use the preview player. To see the preview player, go to preferences - browser details and turn on "Show Preview Player"
@JohnnyPbitch Yes you need to load both TSI files in the controller manager. Go to Preferences - Controller Manager. Click the Device Menu and see what you have loaded in there. You can delete devices by clicking Edit - Delete under the device menu. Now click (under the device menu) Add - Import and import both the Maschine mapping and the mixtrack mapping separately. Make sure you didn't load doubles of any of your mappings. Viola!
Just to clarify my .tsi is not dj endos .tsi it is just similar in a few ways, but different in many more. I would never try to profit from another artists work, especially when he was cool enough to offer his for free.
Hey Endo, when I click on A, B, C or D on my Maschine pad and then press any of the hot keys on the Maschine pad, I seem to lose control of the decks and need to physically click on the deck "logo" found under the deck beside "play" on the transport controls. When I am in vinyl control by pressing E, F, G and H I do not seem to have this problem. Is this to do with your mapping settings? If so, how can I alter the A, B, C and D hot keys to prevent this from happening?
@s4236521 Right, this is exactly how I mapped the controller. If your using Timecode use groups E,F,G,H. This layer won't turn off timecode, and its unsync'd, unsnapped and unquantized for those who like to "keep it real". Groups A,B,C,D is for internal mode and will make sure everything is syncd and quantized. It works best if everything is beatgridded and you have a cue point on the first kick drum in the track.
it does work with tp2. I have altered mine to have full control of the new sample deck features as well as tap tempo for the sync of each decks and some other cool stuff. It is awesome. I've programmed all the led's in mine though. Thinkin about maybe sellin it when im done. lol

thanks for the tutorial. is there any way to change the whole tsi different midi channels? Right now it's on channels 1 and 2, but these channels conflict with my other midi controller, which is also on channels 1 & 2. In the controller editor it's relatively eay to map all the controls to a different channel but in traktor it seems i have to do it button by button, one at a time. Is there a quicker way?
@matgelakt you'd have to do all of that in the controller editor. I don't believe there is a way to change the whole mapping. You'd have to do it one by one. I'll put in a feature request for changing the whole mapping all at once.

Hi there endo! great video, I got everything working but a small thing is bugging me. When I hit the pads it doesn't light up like yours. Before I used your tsi file it lit up every button I hit on it. I really need that function for presentation for my online viewers, so it won't make me look like i'm just tapping the table on camera. @DeeJayEndo thanks endo! I already fixed the problem, it was the new "control editor" update that made it stop illuminating. So i just downgraded to version 1.1.1, no problems there!

@latino790908 You can hook up as many devices as you want to Traktor. You would just load the settings into the controller manager (see my video on the dubspot youtube called "The Mothership"). Our school is located in NYC (bolt bus is only $20 each way max), or you can sign up for our online school.

I was able to configure my maschine as a midi controller (via my audio 8 dj) traktor as described in this video... I am recieving a master output signal, but no volume in the headphones, and I have output preview channels selected as 7 and 8 in the preferences, and my headphones are hooked up to the headphone jack in the audio 8 dj and I have out 7/8 selected as the channel... does anyone have any idea why I am not receiving a headphone signal? a million thanks for your help...
yes, you need to go to preferences - output routing and set the "preview" output to output 7&8. Then you should get a signal in your audio 8's headphone jack. Its a lot of fun if you have 2 headphone sets. 1 for listening to the preview player and 1 for mixing. It looks cool on stage too :-)
@segmata666 Fixed! Now the old settings are back up. However there are new settings with LED feedback that are a little different, which you can download as well. We will be posting the link to the new settings soon.
I also have the latest version of traktor pro and the maschine, and I can only find a template called "morales controller editor" in my settings. It doesn't work as easily as I would've thought
I get it - you can set up this bit of kit so it syncs your tracks up in time direct from cue, or you can piss about trying to get them in time yourself by nudging - / + pitch whilst convincing yourself you're better than the technology (only to then give up and press the SYNC button). If i wanted to do things old skool i'd use my SL 1200's.
@Trickmusicuk Actually to get the sync to work correctly you need to set up your beatgrids properly first. Check out my tutorial video on how to do this.
@markkellr This is my preferred controller actually. It feels great and is very intuitive, and it looks awesome in a dark booth! Every DJ I've trained on using Maschine as a MIDI Controller for Traktor (Carl Cox, Nic Fanciulli, David Morales) LOVES it!
@jimmydeluxetv Yes, since these videos were recorded there has been an update to the controller editor section in the Traktor Preferences. You need to set the in and out ports to Maschine. Thanks for reminding me to mention this.
Hello Endo, great tutorial. But for me it doesn't work.
When loading your maschine_tpro template it doesn't work but there is midi activity. When switching back to the default "traktor pro" with the shift key it works again. I have loaded the tsi and the ncm, also tried making a new template in controller editor. Please help me :(
@jimmydeluxetv Try checking Traktor Preferences - Controller Editor - Select Maschine in the Device Menu and set the In and Out Ports to Maschine. This should fix your problem. Traktor updated this section of the preferences since we did these videos.
@KirkSpencerTV I would download updates from the Native Instruments website - support - updates. I know there was an update to Traktor that installed to a new location in the applications folder so this caused a lot of confusion. Make sure you use the version of Traktor thats in your applications / native instruments folder.

Just wanted to mirror what someone else said in here, the notes on the midi between traktor and control editor, do not correspond.
Hotcue 1 for example, is (just say) D# on the editor and yet it will be on D in Traktor... I am trying to edit Endo's TSI file so that I can make use of a full 8 cuepoint system, to no avail.

One thing to try would be to double check your midi output by sending it into another device that can display MIDI data (like a sequencer or midi monitor) just to make sure that it's sending out what you think it is.
@Lazaruseifer You want to make sure that you have loaded the correct file in the controller manager "Maschine_TPRO.ncm" and then loaded the correct TSI in Traktor. As far as editing MIDI mappings, thats a beast that we will be covering in our online school. You might also want to check my tutorial video on mapping triple macros on the Dubspot channel.

@LanEvo6TME Do you have Traktor Pro? Make sure you have the newest version (or close to the newest version). Because you can only use *. tsi 's from your version or older.
Hey nice vids. But i have some troubles. I loaded the ncm file into the controller editor and the tsi file in traktor. First problem ,scrolling in the musiclist goes with 2rows in a time. then the second problem is start playing the song is not pad 13 but pad 1. Stop are pause the song wil not work. Can you help me want its is so mutch better than the original one from NI
@MrBloodFlower Sounds like you imported the settings twice. Thats why its jumping over your tracks. Go to preferences - controller editor - Devices and select the duplicate mapping, then click on edit - delete to delete it. Just be careful you don't delete anything important like your hotkeys.
Hey Pittster, you need to load the mapping template for the controller editor, and also load the TSI into Traktor by going to the controller manager in the Traktor preferences, clicking "Add" and loading the Maschine TSI file I included. Let me know if you have any other problems

You can sync Traktor and Maschine on one laptop so you can not only use Maschine as a MIDI controller, but also use it as a drum machine / sampler. If you hold shift and press "control" it will switch back and forth between being a MIDI controller and running Machine. The trick is plugging your MIDI out to MIDI in on whatever audio interface your using and sending MIDI clock from Traktor to Machine.
Hey All - you need to install BOTH the controller editor file AND the TSI file to get the settings to work. In the new version of Traktor the best way to import my settings is to go to the controller manager, create a new device by clicking "Add" and then load my Maschine settings. This way you can import other MIDI device settings as well and use multiple controllers! As far as tempo goes, I would highly reccomend not putting your tempo control on Maschine because of the way the knobs work.
You can sync Ableton to Traktor by sending midi clock from Traktor to Ableton (via MIDI cable, Traktor's Virtual MIDI, Ethernet, or computer to computer MIDI network with Mac) and then you can use your Launch pad to trigger clips etc in Ableton. There is a preference in Traktor to send MIDI clock, turn that on, press the "Play" button in the Master clock section, then set Ableton to "EXT" mode, and play the metronome's in both programs, adjusting abletons midi offset until they are in sync.

Hey guys, I updated the settings so you can import my hotkeys and MIDI files separately. This was done to prevent users from accidentally overwriting their settings.
I think the whole idea here is to show people what's possible with setups using midi/pads/knobs/traktor/etc. You have to set it up the way your brain works. It's an evolving process. Once you DO it's a thing of beauty. Moving past the mechanical process of syncing with turntables and finding new ways of doing things that actually affect the music is key here.
to me it makes more sense to mix like this for certain styles/genres -
eg minimal or techno, where beatmatching is just a total waste of time and syncing and quantizing is the more logical approach..
alterntatively, if you're a hip hop/ scratch DJ - Vinyl is still the way forward, as there's no button-bashing subsitute..
at the end of the day, it's all about what the listener gets out of it, rather than how its done - cos 99% of the time, they don't care, as long as they're having a rave :)

@jmotter92 you can assign the faders and knobs to different controls on the maschine but you would have to delete the mappings I did for those knobs. Unless you really know what your doing with the controller manager I wouldn't recommend doing this. Maybe just try mixing with the mouse. I do this all the time at afterparties. I use my maschine and mix with the mouse and plug my computer into the TV in my hotel room. Works like a charm :) Plus those endless encoders don't work well for faders

@pingtrip77 I have supplied you guys with 2 mappings. One mapping uses the preview player and the other mapping does not. You might have the mapping that doesn't use the preview player. To see the preview player, go to preferences - browser details and turn on "Show Preview Player"

@JohnnyPbitch Yes you need to load both TSI files in the controller manager. Go to Preferences - Controller Manager. Click the Device Menu and see what you have loaded in there. You can delete devices by clicking Edit - Delete under the device menu. Now click (under the device menu) Add - Import and import both the Maschine mapping and the mixtrack mapping separately. Make sure you didn't load doubles of any of your mappings. Viola!

Just to clarify my .tsi is not dj endos .tsi it is just similar in a few ways, but different in many more. I would never try to profit from another artists work, especially when he was cool enough to offer his for free.

Hey Endo, when I click on A, B, C or D on my Maschine pad and then press any of the hot keys on the Maschine pad, I seem to lose control of the decks and need to physically click on the deck "logo" found under the deck beside "play" on the transport controls. When I am in vinyl control by pressing E, F, G and H I do not seem to have this problem. Is this to do with your mapping settings? If so, how can I alter the A, B, C and D hot keys to prevent this from happening?

@s4236521 Right, this is exactly how I mapped the controller. If your using Timecode use groups E,F,G,H. This layer won't turn off timecode, and its unsync'd, unsnapped and unquantized for those who like to "keep it real". Groups A,B,C,D is for internal mode and will make sure everything is syncd and quantized. It works best if everything is beatgridded and you have a cue point on the first kick drum in the track.

it does work with tp2. I have altered mine to have full control of the new sample deck features as well as tap tempo for the sync of each decks and some other cool stuff. It is awesome. I've programmed all the led's in mine though. Thinkin about maybe sellin it when im done. lol

thanks for the tutorial. is there any way to change the whole tsi different midi channels? Right now it's on channels 1 and 2, but these channels conflict with my other midi controller, which is also on channels 1 & 2. In the controller editor it's relatively eay to map all the controls to a different channel but in traktor it seems i have to do it button by button, one at a time. Is there a quicker way?

@matgelakt you'd have to do all of that in the controller editor. I don't believe there is a way to change the whole mapping. You'd have to do it one by one. I'll put in a feature request for changing the whole mapping all at once.

Hi there endo! great video, I got everything working but a small thing is bugging me. When I hit the pads it doesn't light up like yours. Before I used your tsi file it lit up every button I hit on it. I really need that function for presentation for my online viewers, so it won't make me look like i'm just tapping the table on camera. Please help!!!!

@latino790908 You can hook up as many devices as you want to Traktor. You would just load the settings into the controller manager (see my video on the dubspot youtube called "The Mothership"). Our school is located in NYC (bolt bus is only $20 each way max), or you can sign up for our online school.

Hi In you rmaschine TPRO.tsi file in your folder when i open it in traktor scratch pro the only option it gives my to choose from is the controller mappings I dont have access to the other choices you told us to choose from in the video like hot key setings,midi mapping,Gui layout,effect settings,all other preferences settings. none of these are avail.

I was able to configure my maschine as a midi controller (via my audio 8 dj) traktor as described in this video... I am recieving a master output signal, but no volume in the headphones, and I have output preview channels selected as 7 and 8 in the preferences, and my headphones are hooked up to the headphone jack in the audio 8 dj and I have out 7/8 selected as the channel... does anyone have any idea why I am not receiving a headphone signal? a million thanks for your help...

yes, you need to go to preferences - output routing and set the "preview" output to output 7&8. Then you should get a signal in your audio 8's headphone jack. Its a lot of fun if you have 2 headphone sets. 1 for listening to the preview player and 1 for mixing. It looks cool on stage too :-)

I get it - you can set up this bit of kit so it syncs your tracks up in time direct from cue, or you can piss about trying to get them in time yourself by nudging - / + pitch whilst convincing yourself you're better than the technology (only to then give up and press the SYNC button). If i wanted to do things old skool i'd use my SL 1200's.

@markkellr This is my preferred controller actually. It feels great and is very intuitive, and it looks awesome in a dark booth! Every DJ I've trained on using Maschine as a MIDI Controller for Traktor (Carl Cox, Nic Fanciulli, David Morales) LOVES it!

@jimmydeluxetv Yes, since these videos were recorded there has been an update to the controller editor section in the Traktor Preferences. You need to set the in and out ports to Maschine. Thanks for reminding me to mention this.

Hello Endo, great tutorial. But for me it doesn't work.
When loading your maschine_tpro template it doesn't work but there is midi activity. When switching back to the default "traktor pro" with the shift key it works again. I have loaded the tsi and the ncm, also tried making a new template in controller editor. Please help me :(

@jimmydeluxetv Try checking Traktor Preferences - Controller Editor - Select Maschine in the Device Menu and set the In and Out Ports to Maschine. This should fix your problem. Traktor updated this section of the preferences since we did these videos.

@KirkSpencerTV I would download updates from the Native Instruments website - support - updates. I know there was an update to Traktor that installed to a new location in the applications folder so this caused a lot of confusion. Make sure you use the version of Traktor thats in your applications / native instruments folder.

Just wanted to mirror what someone else said in here, the notes on the midi between traktor and control editor, do not correspond.
Hotcue 1 for example, is (just say) D# on the editor and yet it will be on D in Traktor... I am trying to edit Endo's TSI file so that I can make use of a full 8 cuepoint system, to no avail.
Anyone have any suggestions?

One thing to try would be to double check your midi output by sending it into another device that can display MIDI data (like a sequencer or midi monitor) just to make sure that it's sending out what you think it is.

@Lazaruseifer You want to make sure that you have loaded the correct file in the controller manager "Maschine_TPRO.ncm" and then loaded the correct TSI in Traktor. As far as editing MIDI mappings, thats a beast that we will be covering in our online school. You might also want to check my tutorial video on mapping triple macros on the Dubspot channel.

@LanEvo6TME Do you have Traktor Pro? Make sure you have the newest version (or close to the newest version). Because you can only use *. tsi 's from your version or older.

Hey nice vids. But i have some troubles. I loaded the ncm file into the controller editor and the tsi file in traktor. First problem ,scrolling in the musiclist goes with 2rows in a time. then the second problem is start playing the song is not pad 13 but pad 1. Stop are pause the song wil not work. Can you help me want its is so mutch better than the original one from NI

@MrBloodFlower Sounds like you imported the settings twice. Thats why its jumping over your tracks. Go to preferences - controller editor - Devices and select the duplicate mapping, then click on edit - delete to delete it. Just be careful you don't delete anything important like your hotkeys.

You can sync Traktor and Maschine on one laptop so you can not only use Maschine as a MIDI controller, but also use it as a drum machine / sampler. If you hold shift and press "control" it will switch back and forth between being a MIDI controller and running Machine. The trick is plugging your MIDI out to MIDI in on whatever audio interface your using and sending MIDI clock from Traktor to Machine.

Hey All - you need to install BOTH the controller editor file AND the TSI file to get the settings to work. In the new version of Traktor the best way to import my settings is to go to the controller manager, create a new device by clicking "Add" and then load my Maschine settings. This way you can import other MIDI device settings as well and use multiple controllers! As far as tempo goes, I would highly reccomend not putting your tempo control on Maschine because of the way the knobs work.

Hey Endo, i wanted to add a tempo adj. param to your template.
I want to assign the pitch faders of the decks to the tempo knob on Maschine so that it can control the focus deck.
when i tried this it seemed like the sync button and nudge buttons became disfunctional, would you know if this would be true?
can u give me pointers on how to do what i wanted to do?

You can sync Ableton to Traktor by sending midi clock from Traktor to Ableton (via MIDI cable, Traktor's Virtual MIDI, Ethernet, or computer to computer MIDI network with Mac) and then you can use your Launch pad to trigger clips etc in Ableton. There is a preference in Traktor to send MIDI clock, turn that on, press the "Play" button in the Master clock section, then set Ableton to "EXT" mode, and play the metronome's in both programs, adjusting abletons midi offset until they are in sync.

I think the whole idea here is to show people what's possible with setups using midi/pads/knobs/traktor/etc. You have to set it up the way your brain works. It's an evolving process. Once you DO it's a thing of beauty. Moving past the mechanical process of syncing with turntables and finding new ways of doing things that actually affect the music is key here.

to me it makes more sense to mix like this for certain styles/genres -
eg minimal or techno, where beatmatching is just a total waste of time and syncing and quantizing is the more logical approach..
alterntatively, if you're a hip hop/ scratch DJ - Vinyl is still the way forward, as there's no button-bashing subsitute..
at the end of the day, it's all about what the listener gets out of it, rather than how its done - cos 99% of the time, they don't care, as long as they're having a rave :)
