My only problem is that Janick BLUDGEONED this solo. In my opinion, Adrian would have taken his playing to a Van Halen or Rhoads-type level of chops and skill if he wouldn't have left the band.
Well if I remember right Adrian played the solo on the album not Janick..Janick is a great no AWEOSME guitar player but I think Adrian is the best out of the 3 guitarist

Maiden sounds even better now then they did in the 80's due to the fact that Gers adds that 3rd dimension of guitar that was always present in the studio but not during live perfromances of the 80's shows!

I like his playing, but not on those old songs, he just lacks the skill to play them. He's a great songwriter and also a skilled player, but he can't play them anyway. Really I don't know why they let them play the Hallowed Be Thy Name, Revelations, Heaven Can Wait and Moonchild, and if you watch the Ullevi concert he also plays mostly of Adrian's solos.

I never had a problem with Janick Gers with anything , live or studio. I'll do you one better, go listen to Janick's live stuff on Rock In Rio, he does just fine, specifically Sign of the Cross and Dream of Mirrors. Now I WILL agree with you on one thing, I believe if the song had an Adrian Smith solo in it, then Adrian should've played it. HOWEVER! There are a SHITLOAD more songs with Adrian's solos compared to Janick's, so it's a matter of Adrian being polite and letting Janick play some.

Well I agree if you compare the two as separates? Yeah I'm going to defend Adrian Smith any day of the week because he is the originator and has a sound all of his own. Really all 3 guitarists sound different, I can tell when any one of them are playing. Dave has the soulful rich tone, Adrians sound is very cut-through and powerful, Janicks is more fast and has a lot of treble in it. But when you pile all 3 together, you get a real kick you in the nuts kind of sound. But yeah I agree with you

Nope it was keyboard they only did it for the album "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" I think im not 100% sure..Look it up they had somone guest on the album to do the keyboards

Many bands usually steer away from playing their more elaborate intros live ( Metallica, Maiden, etc.) but this sounded awesome! I wish Adrian would have played the solo though.

All you assholes BASHING Mr. Janick Gers just remember this, if you bash just one part of the mighty and glorious Maiden, you bash them all! Maiden is not a 5 piece, they havent been since prior to 1999. They are 6 ( which if you think about it, is WAY TOO fitting considering the whole Number of the Beast philosphy of 6, the same goes for The Prisoner and Back in the Village) Maiden has ALWAYS had 6's in their music. So why not 6 pieces? The 3-headed guitar monster they have now is PERFECT \m/

I never had a problem with Janick Gers with anything , live or studio. I'll do you one better, go listen to Janick's live stuff on Rock In Rio, he does just fine, specifically Sign of the Cross and Dream of Mirrors. Now I WILL agree with you on one thing, I believe if the song had an Adrian Smith solo in it, then Adrian should've played it. HOWEVER! There are a SHITLOAD more songs with Adrian's solos compared to Janick's, so it's a matter of Adrian being polite and letting Janick play some.

ok ive seen rock in rio about ten times.he does play ok ther is actualy playing a solo and it sign of the cross sounds fucking good ..i particuley like his own solos from x factor n p f t dying v.11 and fear of the dark . just feelstrongly about maybe adrians stuff.

Well I agree if you compare the two as separates? Yeah I'm going to defend Adrian Smith any day of the week because he is the originator and has a sound all of his own. Really all 3 guitarists sound different, I can tell when any one of them are playing. Dave has the soulful rich tone, Adrians sound is very cut-through and powerful, Janicks is more fast and has a lot of treble in it. But when you pile all 3 together, you get a real kick you in the nuts kind of sound. But yeah I agree with you

how does he actually fuck them up? just because he does not play them exactly as the studio version? Adrian asked Janick to do his solos since he was not there to perform them.
