  • heard the same thing, but it happened at midnight. Everyone ran to the car as fast as possible.

  • They should get the fuck inside. now.

  • A cub

  • This could be a fox, they make noises like this

  • @KodyThomas132 You're not a damn cop, you lying retard.

  • That`s a mountion lion

  • That's a fox. We've seen them making this sound.

  • It sounds like a female in heat.

  • sounds like a fox to me

  • where was this?

  • baby mtn lions can scream tht loud thank u very much

  • have them stalk my house every night trying to get my dog, I think it is a fox according to other videos

  • wouldn't be surprized

  • its a baby cougar

  • Thats a female cougar lol

  • do bobcats make those sounds?

  • @enchilada01 kinda similar but not nearly as loud

  • Anyone else think the guy holding the camera sounds a bit like Tom Hanks?

  • or bobcat...they are very elusive, nevertheless scary as heck when you're out there on your own

  • it is baby moutain lion b/c it is callin to its mom

  • @iluvutyler20 baby mountain lions cant scream that loud so ... ITS A MAMA! =]

  • the cubs and parents make a chirping sound. That is the sound you heard.

  • It's them.

  • Forsure a mountain lion, thats amazing, i bet that gave you the chills!

  • that is definetely the sound of a mountain lion.

  • sounds like a young mt.lion separated from mommy lol . I have actually heard them before .

  • was it Spring time? Maybe it was calling it's kittens? or mate?

  • Way quite but yes, definately a mountain lion.

  • That was reeeaallly quiet... I had to turn the volume up alot but I heard it... That sounds creepy... Yeah, cougar.

  • yea that is a mountain lion

  • Yup...that was a mountain lion. Sounds like it was in distress. Were there trap lines around there? If there were, the lion was probably caught in a trap. That is usually the only reason it would scream in succession like that.

  • Damn that's terrifying, how were you not all freaking out?

  • i would have shit !

  • I think it was a cougar

  • @K8S450DR Cougars are Mountain lions

  • I know. I call them "cougar" because it's shorter and faster to write than "mountain lion" :-D

  • yep.

  • it's there. sounds like an angry mountain lion

  • hard to hear it but it sure sounded like one

  • I didnt hear anything:( we dont have speakers the noise comes from our computer

  • Oh yea..a Mountain lion!!

Probably a female either in heat or looking for her cubs.

Natures way of reminding you to watch your back. You only THINK you are on top of the food chain!

  • IT WAS A GHOST!!! BOOOOOO!!!

  • yup thats a lion all right

  • its a chicken coop

  • I found huge tracks while deer hunting in wi this weekend. They were slightly larger than the palm of my hand but I have a big hand, I can palm a basketball easily. I definitely know that they are feline, but are missing the third middle lobe on the rear of it's paw. So it only has 5 lobes. I can't really explain it and I don't know what it is. Shoot me a text at 7158917643 and I'll send you a pic of it. Any help would be appreciated.

  • it sounds like a young one

  • @KodyThomas132 its is absolutely not illegal anywhere to defend yourself from an animal attack. If you're getting attacked by a cougar and you kill it and you then get into legal trouble because of it, I would say its about time to start suicide bombing our capital because that would be bullshit.. also, you dont need a concealed weapons permit to carry a handgun in the woods.

  • The Mountain lion that came into my camp chirped and squeaked at me. Then it snorted at me. This was inn 1989 before small digital cameras were around. It was about 10ft from me. I was in the back of my truck reading a trail map when I heard it then saw it. Location south rim of Grand Canyon AZ.

  • wat there is no sound at all wtf

  • @matflo11 yes there is. at like 46 seconds and then again at around 51-52 seconds. put your ear next to the speaker.

  • @KodyThomas132 most places won't allow you to be an officer unless your iq is under 100-110 I wouldn't brag about being a cop

  • It was either a mountain lion, puma, or Cougar. I definetly heard it.

  • @Ryofire Lmao.... MOuntain Lion, Puma or Cougar ?? Its the same animal....

  • @KodyThomas132 i didn't say you didn't know what you were talking about, pig boy, i said it was DUMB. but...if your really a cop, we'll forgive you.

  • I didn't hear any Mountain Lion. All I heard was a bird tweeting.

  • @KodyThomas132 wow. that is the dumbest comment.

  • Could be a Bobcat too or Lynx.

  • i have been in the woods of south dakota where there was a male tracking us while we were tracking elk! my first time doing that and i was on vaca! that scream was definitely a mountain lion and like as said before, it eas pretty far off. closer is even creepier!!

  • Yeah, I went to the zoo and the mountain lions sounded just like that.

  • lol this is almost like a ghost video.

  • yeah def a mountain lion but they are loud, so u dont have to worry bout distance xD

  • yeah. i think thats a mountain lion.

  • yes it is a mountain lion

  • damn alex is hott

  • that was definatly a mountain lion scream

  • that was a cougar for sure

  • sounded like a fox

  • that's a cougar

    or a black panther

i heard that noise before you will never forget that sound it sounds like a woman screaming for murder

  • it sounded like a regular house kitty.

  • Hard to tell, sounds like a cat. I've heard a fox once make a scream type noise however I think it was rabid.

  • @MrTRex777 foxes scream in breeding season not just when they're rabid, they do it often outside my house. This isn't a fox though, I've never heard THIS through the trees at night (just as well, I'm in England so we're not supposed to have pumas in this country but there are some escaped ones roaming around from private collections that've been caught on cctv)

  • at 0:56 and 1:20 - 1:22 you can hear it

  • It is a mountain lion. I've heard that before. Could be a cub but I wouldn't want to find out.

  • Or it could've been a Bobcat or Lynx I dunno just a guess lol.

  • I'd be high tailing it outta there.

  • its a cub calling for its mother, its pretty common for them to make that noise

  • It very well could have been a mountain lion. Very far off.... but I would agree with the mating call perhaps and not the aggressive scream. I was jogging late one night and heard one what sounded mere feet away. THAT is scary. Sounds just like a woman screaming bloody murder. Both times I have heard this it was after dark. And it is undeniable. When you hear it, you know it.

  • I heard that sound in the canyon w/ my friends..it is spring..its there mating calll....very freaky!!

  • Ive actually had the privilege to hear a mountain lion twice in my life and had older people with me to verify thats what it was and both times it gave me chills. It sounded the same to me...very creepy

  • I would haul ass outta there if I heard that noise.

  • its a mountain lion

  • well i wouldnt say it was a mountain lion but as jmw said they are very alike what ever the animal was he knew you there

  • Bobcats sream in a very similar way, sometimes even louder than moutain lions. Given the range and ratio of bobcats to cougars, unless you see a mountain lion it was more likely a bobcat! Cool video! Rare encounter, even if its only screams.

  • i heard the same thing last night for the first time. from what i can tell, it's a mountain lion. pretty creepy when you are outside and hear it at midnight.

  • I just heard outside running. Couldn't tell what it was! Scared me to death.

  • it's a person screaming because of a mountain lion

  • yeah, it was a mountain lion.

    Nice scenery by the way....

  • Mountain lion for sure.

  • ITS A CHUPACABRA

  • this is an UFO

  • Sounds like a mountain lion in heat to me, had one around our camp here in alberta last year...sounded the same way and hung around for about 3 days.

  • LMFAO!! "its a chicken coup" just the way she said it lololololmfao

  • cougars scream like a woman dying. no way that was one lol.

  • The cougar, also known as puma, mountain lion, mountain cat, catamount or panther, depending on the region where found.

  • lol @ the way she said "its a chicken coop"

  • panther, puma, cougar, mountain lion=same thing, kids.

  • go back to school there a puma panther and cougar are diffrent

  • go back to school and learn punctuation, grammar, and taxonomy.

  • smoke a bud and chill dude dont get all huffy lol and i am proud of my redneck spellin

  • @rhenfield What's good for the goose...

  • yep thats a mountain Lion..You better be careful..They like to target the young kids.I m serious..

  • Sounds like it.

But I wanna know what it is that sounds like a screaming woman, we get those around here all the time (I'm from Western North Carolina). Someone said it's a panther, but when I think of panthers, I think of the savanna or something lol.

  • i live in hendersonville n.c and i was coon huntin one night and heard that sound like a woman screaming...it scared the hell outa me! an old timer i was huntin with said it was a panther

  • @fordpower88 cougars aren't supposed to still exist east of the Mississippi, except in Florida.

  • They've been expanding their territory. There have even been sparse sightings of some in Eastern Kentucky by some friends and family of mine.

  • @gerowen Well thats good, but they're rare individuals

  • Just watched this after thinking I heard a cougar out by Mt. Rainier in Washington. Same sound I just heard is in this video. Pretty sure its a cougar.

  • that was for sure a mountain lion, AKA cougar.

  • that was the wind man who dont know?

  • Oooh yeah. That's a horny female mountain lion. We get that all the time in Idaho

  • YEAH I HEARD IT THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL CATS

  • The girl looks like Katie Holmes

  • Dude thats cool

  • yes for everyones knowledge mountain lions do sound like screaming girls

  • very very cool

  • female cougar in heat.

  • it was el chupacabre

  • ha ha yep

  • chupacabre is a mangey daranged coyote

  • hey i went hunting for 6 years and im 13 i have never herd a mount lion scream it sounds cool and creepy

  • We just heard one screaming and my mom looked down the road and there were two running down the street in KANSAS. We listened for them, then they were right across the street in our neighbors yard and they were mountain lion kittens, running around screaming.. It was kinda scary till we figured out what they were. They sound like a woman screaming in a horror film.

  • I'd say either a young mountain lion or a bobcat.. would've been really naet to hear that!

  • definently a female. Heard it too many times.

  • oh god, that's sketchy

  • i have been stalked and chased by a male mountain lion so the sound is definatly a mountain lion because i heard that right before it chased me

  • Yeah me and my sister were stalked by some large cat a few nights ago and it hissed at us then kind of growled/hissed. It's definitely unnerving. Have you ever heard one scream? It's sounds like a woman in a horror movie, it's creepy. People try to say they don't live around here, but I know for a fact they do. (Here being where I live, Arkansas)

  • Just two seconds ago there was a crazy scream that sounded like a big cat , and i live in canada !!!

  • yes! omg, i was just up in wisconsin

and i herd that scream. scared the crap

outta me. at first we thought it was a women (the neighbor who has a disorder) but we later find

out a cougar is in the area

  • I live in milwaukee and I do not think we have big cats because I ate them all.

  • ikr they say that evreywhere out east! i live in kentucky and i know they live here

  • my mom went hunting in crittnen county idk how to spell that lol and her and her dad heard it and the have beem trying to figure out what it was and i just showed another video to my mom and she was like thats what i heard!! lol btw i live in kentucky too!

  • awe sweet man lol! im pretty sure there coming back because of all the deer now

  • probabely idk how to spell that either ha ha i seen TONS of deer

  • its at 0:45 and its definately a mountain lion

  • Have you ever heard a bobcat?

  • have you ever heard a mountain lion

  • I have heard a cat-like scream on several different occasions. I think it has been a mountain lion each time, but I am not sure. I am trying to find out some more information about the sounds of both mountain lions and bobcats. I am curious as to why you think it is definetely a mountain lion. Can you please explain to me how you are sure that it is a mountain lion? I am not doubting you or trying to get in an argument. I just want to learn more about the sounds of both cats. Thank you.

  • Sure, the scream in this video is a female mountain lion because it is lower than a bob cat and higher than a male mountain lion. But a bob cat is way higher and raspier.

  • Thanks so much for the information. What I have heard is about the same as this video, if anything maybe a little lower and a little less raspy, which would make it a male mountain lion. I live in neighborhood near a lot of wilderness and I heard it a few nights ago. On another occasion I was out in the woods and we heard the scream fairly close to us. We also heard a large animal bounding around in the brush. It went on for several minutes, probably trying to get us out of it's territory.

  • No Problem!

  • a bobcat IS a montain lion

  • Bobcats and mountain lions are different animals. A bobcat is much smaller and has a short tail. A mountain lion is large, sometimes over 100 pounds and has a long tail. You don't have to take my word for it. Look it up yourself.

  • no it's not

  • Hey Bunkerfag, Why would you kill it? Were you scared like the fucking pussy you are... No doubt.. Losers like you suck.. Next time Step Up- stick the gun in your mouth and pull the trigger.

  • Comment removed

  • man we have alot of mountin lions where we live. there screams are real creepy....

  • i just shot one of these in my front yard

  • rly? cool tell em the story plz =]

  • i would but everybody hates people who kill animals even if it was for good

  • It depends why--if it was self defense, or going after someone, then that's fine, but if it was just way too close and you were afraid it was going to come fter you or your pets or anyone in the area then Animal Control or something should have been called.

  • why? your house was obviously built in its own territory and if not they only move when in search of food or a mate. read up a bit more before you go shooting wild animals that know every area so much better than you. they are amazing creatures and should be protected, not shot.

  • yes they are amazing but ive had animals killed lately and didnt want to take the chance of losing another, or somebody in a rare case.

  • there's plenty of people and pet to go around,

  • yeah mountain lion alright.....or big foot..na just kidding, its a cougar

  • Mountain lions truly can make some evil sounds, it's gold for using in Dark Ambient music.

  • she's trying to get laid

  • it was a female cougar in heat. calling for a mate.

  • it was a florida panthern

  • Is that in Maine? I traveled somewheres and that shack looked familiar.

  • OMG I WOULD PEE MY FUCKING PANTS.

  • lol. ya that was a female. i love that sound. i used to liive on top of a mountain and heard that every night in montana

  • yes, that was a female mountain lion. Where was this video taken from?

  • wind?

  • I think, no matter what that sound that lion makes, get your butt out of there.

  • wtf i didnt hear shit and had volume cranked

  • Indeed a female lion will scream sounding erily like a woman screaming. That is what it sounds like ... bet it made the hair on you neck stand on end... I had one calling like that just over the hill from where I was riding my horse... ( my horse tried to run from it but I wouldnt let her since I had a gin with me)

  • yeah, it was a bit creepy. Very surprising.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a better recording? I am in VT and we have been visited the last few nights by something unusual. I think I heard this scream along with some noises consistent with a large animal moving. This morning at 4 am our horse got really agitated and, was intensely focused on something in the woods. When we let him out of the paddock he went to the other end of the property.

  • Unfortunately, this is the best recording I have. I took it using a camcorder.

  • I found one, on youtube. My suspicion that we had one nearby has been made plausible by 2 sightings within a mile or so of my house. They appear to be making a comeback in the east.

  • Mountain lions make a scream type call that sounds similiar to a womans scream. Cool you caught this on video.

  • mountain lion most definatly.

  • Yes, mountain Lion. thankfully your people out there, that sound most likely means it is full, just killed and ate its meal... if you hear it then its not looking for food. : )

  • Actually, that's the sound the females make when in heat and in search of a mate.

  • Yes that is a couger doing a "cougeratchie" warning scream.

  • I was kinda hard to tell on the video but it did sound like a cougar calling. I actually just heard one the other day calling like that and it was doing it repetitively.

  • Where was this filmed?

  • I heard the same noise 5 years ago here in New Brunswick, Canada. I was 2KM from the highway in the woods cutting wood. With out warning I heard what sounded pretty much like a women screaming really loud! I knew it was not any animal here. After a couple of minutes it stoped with a pause followed by a 3secound scream. I then went to a large meadow 60meters away where I heard it coming from. I found nothing of course. I then learned 2years after about cougars in NB and what they sound like.
