@TheE1961 There was SOME really good stuff in the 80's . But for the most part the really soulless Crap outweighed the good stuff by a very large margin . But I guess it also matters what age group you are from . If you grew up during the 80's that music will mean much more to you than to me . I can't stand hair bands . @TheE1961 None of those bands except Great White & Motley Crue were born in the eighties . They are from the 70's David &David were 80's though . I categorize music from the decade the band was formed . There was a lot of "New stuff" I just didn't like . And there was some stuff I did. But Bands Formed in the 80's that were standouts , were rare. But that really can apply to any decade .I have found very good stuff from the 50's until now . The same for not so good.
@kbdevo1962 Actually Sabbath is from the 60's but their best album was put out in 79/80 (Heaven and Hell) Priest from the 70's and their best work and fame came in the 80's. Yngwie Malmsteen his best work 80's and soo on.
I've been a Baerwald fan for years. NEVER understood why video and radio edits cut the spoken part "Well, the ambulance arrived too late... I guess she didn't wanna wait.." Regardless, a great song and great talent! Thanks for posting!
While it's long-been a phenomenon that, as people mature/get older, they spout phrases like "Things were better then", and "People these days don't know what makes a real artist/product, etc.", it is indisputable that the necessity to ACTUALLY PLAY an instrument well, or to perform with quality, sets our now-bygone era apart from the present. This isn't a matter of 'age-related bitterness'. It's a Technological truth. We had to use banks of machines with moving gears, wheels, and tapes.

Just as well the former Govt set up proper banking regulation where total loan losses for the 4 majors did not go above 100bp of loans throughout the GFC. 3 years ago, 70 banks globally were rated AA or better, now only 8 are and 4 of them are Aussie banks.

what's amazing about this song (looking back), is that is sounds like something you'd hear Matthew Sweet or another alt. rocker make in the mid-90s. I think this album helped transition from the synth 80s sound to a more raw sound for the 90s

@El135o David Baerwald is one of the most humble people/musician I've had the pleasure to talk with. Back in October 2010, David acquired one of my favorite guitars to replace the one he'd lost along the way. A 1959 Gibson LG-1 acoustic.
At first I couldn't place or remember where I'd heard him, or of him, and not being a self back slapper he said I could check google his bio. I felt like a pure a**hole after reading it.
This song is so money! I'm foolish for never seeking out the rest of their cataloge. I probably missed out on some great stuff; but this song was so on point, I figured, how could they top it. My loss
Funny, I totally forgot about this song until I heard someone play it at a party the other night. I have not heard it in years. I always loved this song, It's got a cool/erie feel to it. Totally 80's! I love it.
Thought this was one of the greatest songs i had ever heard when it came out and thought these guys would be HUGE. I hope they are doing well. Great VIDEO too.
Listened to this album over and over again when it came out, perfect for driving and singing along to. This song and 'Swallowed By The Cracks' are pretty awesome.
Glad to see that someone put up the coin to make a vid..."Swallowed By The Cracks" is my fav from this album..Incredibly powerful album, IMO, underrated, and brilliant, given the crap that has been around....
Yeah, I completely agree. I thought "Boomtown" was a killer, but "Swallowed by the cracks" absolutely surpassed it. David+David nailed a certain point in time in a certain area of the world.
This is a great album from David Baerwald and David Ricketts. Each song tells a story of depression and loneliness. I've never seen the video for Boomtown. Thanks for posting.
This song is about drug addiction in LA in the mid 1980's. They never recorded again under the name David and David, but Baerwald did release a solo album a few years after this album. However, they still remained studio musicians and songwriters and in 1993 were part of Sheryl Crow's first album, "Tuesday Night Music Club". They played on several of the songs and co-wrote some of the songs, including "All I Want To Do", "Strong Enough", "Leaving Las Vegas".
"Miss Kristina drives a 944, satisfaction oozes from her pores...." classic mid 80's California scene that these guys captured in a 3 minute song of pure pop magic.
I had this on cassette tape. Great album! Singer/songwriter David Baerwald was part of Sheryl Crowe's " tuesday night music club". He did some solo stuff, check out his song " Dance"
This song is almost as cool as I was when it came out in 86

I first heard this on Miami Vice. Pretty much sums up the decadence of the 80's.

Anyway, cheers to ya.

this is the perfect swan song for the Trump/Kiyosaki-wannabee's who got caught holding the bag in the 2003-2006 real estate bubble.
