I would think, they just modified the frame and put parts into it. That's all that can be done to make it shoot real ammo, change the inside. Now I didn't like gas, but now regulating gas guns? Just because kids are playing with lower grade toys, yes toys, much like the two "rifles" you have around you are, doesn't constitute the difference between a real airsoft sport and a fake one. The only real way to distinguish a airsoft from a real rifle is the orange tip. Concealing a airsoft gun without the orange tip is a great way to get flack from law enforcement who can't tell the difference between the two.
I play airsoft in England, your news teams seem to be just picking on the sport as they need news to put out on there show. they need to do there research better, and when they do, they will find that any self respecting airsoft play takes safty and consealment very seriously!

With the amount of work it would take to convert an airsoft gbbr into a functioning fully automatic rifle, you might as well make get access to a machine shop and make your own lower receiver and full auto sear. You will need a lathe no matter which route you take, so I don't see how airsoft gbbrs contribute to this problem at all. Buying airsoft guns for the purpose of creating fully automatic rifles just isn't practical.

Now, ATF said nothing about HOW they modified the gun- they could have changed the whole fricking thing. They might have made the barrel different, or changed the entire internal layout and design. I for one am EXTREMELY angered by this, because ATF is just trying to show that the Government is doing something productive, but they're just spending all of our money.

The sport of Airsoft is using teamwork to achieve your goal. It's not about the guns you use or how old you are. Sure, a lot of professional players do not use low power guns, but in reality, low power guns and the higher end guns are all equal. On a sanctioned field, getting hit by a $5 springer pistol is no different from a $1500 Systema; You are still out. In the end, its all about getting into the sport, using teamwork, and having fun, no matter what age you are!

well surprisingly real firearms only shoot like 2500- somewhere in the 4000 the 4000's r reserved for things like the barret 50. cal. the L96 which is one of the worlds best sniper rifles shoots at 875 meters per second and can kill at a good 900 meters to 975 meters and can harass up to 1100 meters

Funny enough one of my teammates has a western arms m4 gbbr, after seeing the news about the ATF seizing airsoft guns do to people being able to convert them we did a fun little test. A few of my teammates and I have actual gunsmithing experience so we tried to slide a standard AR mag into his guns lower receiver; not only was it the worst fit imaginable, it also managed to snap the mag release clip inside the gun. So my question is how the hell did anyone convert one to make it function?!

what made me laugh is that the news reporter said "the high end FULL METAL suns..." while playing a clip of a G36 GBBR! G36's are plastic! whether it is Polymer or ABS it isn't full metal, another little thing that makes King 5 news retards!

@ELITEclan100 The gun shop talked about how the LOWER RECEIVER was the part that could be modified to shoot real live ammunition. Now, ATF said nothing about HOW they modified the gun- they could have changed the whole fricking thing. They might have made the barrel different, or changed the entire internal layout and design. I for one am EXTREMELY angered by this, because ATF is just trying to show that the Government is doing something productive, but they're just spending all of our money.

This is just, put quite simply, retarded. Everyone who buys and airsoft gun buys it for the sport of airsoft or something like target practice. Not to convert in into a real gun. Honestly, I could go to the black market, and get a real cheap m4 for the same price as one of these high end GBB's. It's so much easier and simpler than getting an airsoft gun and using one piece of it (the lower receiver) and modifying that so heavily to make one gun. Chris... just wow.

7:11 if somebody had the money and BOUGHT a super realistic lower reciver like the one there, bought a real triger asembaly, then modified the gun to take it, and then costomized the rest of the gun and ended with a bullet fireing gun, i know for a FACT! for god sake that they would spend MORE money and take MORE time with MORE modifications needed than a real gun would need, and in the end, it would just be easyer to buy and make a real gun, pluse even cheaper

if im gona spend $500 on a GBB M4 and then buy an upper reciever for a real M4 just to put it on my lower reciver of my gbb then im as stupid as stupid does with a box of chocolates... its easier to spend $500 dollars on a real M4 and modify that too shoot full auto, way easier. theres too many differences between gbb and real M4s

Why does everyone hate on airsoft so much? Can't you put a bunch of self-made steel balls into a paintball gun+turn up the co2 tank and break someone's finger or leave a pretty nasty bruise easier than modifying an airsoft gun to fire real rounds?

The sport of Airsoft is using teamwork to achieve your goal. It's not about the guns you use or how old you are. Sure, a lot of professional players do not use low power guns, but in reality, low power guns and the higher end guns are all equal. On a sanctioned field, getting hit by a $5 springer pistol is no different from a $1500 Systema; You are still out. In the end, its all about getting into the sport, using teamwork, and having fun, no matter what age you are!

well surprisingly real firearms only shoot like 2500- somewhere in the 4000 the 4000's r reserved for things like the barret 50. cal. the L96 which is one of the worlds best sniper rifles shoots at 875 meters per second and can kill at a good 900 meters to 975 meters and can harass up to 1100 meters

Ok is that the fing black market shop? I see about 200 ar15s, m16s, I SEE A BARRET, AK47s, and sr25s. God only knows whats under the counter! Javelins, tanks in the ground, predator drones, black birds, nukes, at4s, humvees, and worst of all, demon puppies on fire with no fur or skin and only bone. Funny enough one of my teammates has a western arms m4 gbbr, after seeing the news about the ATF seizing airsoft guns do to people being able to convert them we did a fun little test. A few of my teammates and I have actual gunsmithing experience so we tried to slide a standard AR mag into his guns lower receiver; not only was it the worst fit imaginable, it also managed to snap the mag release clip inside the gun. So my question is how the hell did anyone convert one to make it function?!

totally! didn't you guys know you could convert airsoft guns to real ones? Here's what you do: take your airsoft gun, set it aside, and take out your real gun. Presto! And notice how the untraceable lower recievers (or the bill they showed when talking about it) is the same price as a Systema? If I'm paying that kind of money, I'd keep the systema.

i dont undersstand why anyone would even want to do this, gbbs cost a lot when you could just buy a used ar-15 for the same price, and not need to buy the gbb and the real upper receiver and the real trigger parts, and have to modify it, this is a stupid news story, prodigy, you should send them an email explaining who you are (nicely), and show them this video and make them remake the story. No one wants to see this great sport fall except for people who are uninformed about it.
