Congratulations Rob Douglas.

But from appearances, Rob's reign as fastest sailor on earth may be eclipsed by a fast approaching challenge: After only a dozen practice runs, the Vestas Sail Rocket 2 is laying down 50+knot runs in Walvis Bay about 250 miles north. If the "ventilated foil" works as designed, the VSR2 team is confident that they have a +60k boat. Of course, that only throws down the gauntlet to Rob and others. Good luck to all. A kite is a sail. Just like a spinnaker is called a 'kite' by some sailors. Just cos its not attached to a mast conventionally...

Very impressive! Not sure I would compare it to other forms of sailing, i.e. ice sailing record is currently 61.34 knots by James Lamb.
