  • i think thats unkle playing in the background? yay if it is!

  • So we are already dead in a sense because we don't have a soul and the only thing diferenciating between use and the non-living is conscious. So we are already dead except for conscious but when we die that goes so then we'll be fully dead.

Well, not really because just like a robot can be dismantled and smashed, the metal still exist and will be used for different things. So there is still value in our life. When we die we become pure ingredients, right now we are machines...

  • @arpee9216 "So we are already dead in a sense because we don't have a soul".

No. That presupposes that the only way we can be alive, is if we have a fabricated, unproven, irrational, false concept of a "soul". Clearly that's wrong.

  • @Dom0nePhilosophy , I'm not saying that the soul is the reason that we are already dead. I'm saying, because it's absent, the only thing that separates us from the dead in reality is that we are complex machines made of littler machines (cells). When we die we won't have consciousness and we'll become broken down over time like a dismantled machine and our particles will be used as parts some where for another machine (most likely as soil or a part of a smaller life which ate some of us)...

  • @arpee9216 ... I love the idea of determinism and I think that is the only reason why I can let go of certain beliefs. I like the idea that there is order and that we are machines of the universe, it really makes it feel OK to be human instead of religious guilt about certain things (sin = pleasure, selfishness..).

This idea of determinism/order seems very spiritual since it's an abstract rule based on scientific finds, such neuro-determinism based on genes...

But unlike a god, there is proof.

  • Excellent! Your videos really are exceptional!

  • Who's the professor giving the lecture? Could I have a link?

  • this is so shallow. so whats the mechanism of wind?

  • @zinoviaki Never a miscommunication :D If you're being ironic may I genuinely apologise for the contempt I'll show towards the ignorance of your statement. I'm by no means an expert on wind systems, but the mechanism essentially evolves around temperature. Warmer air becomes less dense, therefore rises, cooler air rushes to fill the gaps left, therefore you get a flow of air, or WIND as people call it. Research the "gulf stream".

Why the hell are you watching this video? It's a bit beyond you.

  • Brilliant!

  • Such an interesting topic. I look forward to more.

  • Dom0ne wins subscriber, equations intertwine, products of thoughts become products of products of thoughts which themselves give rise to equations that thoughts become products of ; ferrets, snails, wet cardboard and rusty nails all become none but one of each it's own nondescript form for but a brief gust of stellar wind - how doeth thou giveth rise to such wind? show it that it may be unseen!

  • Can't wait to see the rest. Exceptional.

  • Excellent, very much looking forward to this one.

  • Love it! Can't wait for more!

  • Not bad at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only complaint is that with all the changing voices, it can be a bit hard to listen to.

  • Wow.... I mean this video was so deep, I knows what you mean by this vid, or I might be missing the target by a couple of lightyears, but we don't need a sky daddy to give us purpose or consciousness. We get it, because it happens naturally. Besides your last video, lets just say that it changed my entire prospective of reality. So... yeah your doing great ^^

  • I am a biological computer run by an organic computer that consists of miles and miles of switches and relays, coursing electrical and chemical messages through my machine. As beautiful and poetic the world is to us, we are still machines. Highly complex machines formed by chemistry and physics, over many eons, through variation during reproduction and environmental selection.

  • @EricZombie NICE! I should have got you to write the script for this :) You'll like part 2.

  • quality, mate. i just know the series will rock.

  • @gothatfunk Cheers dude! I wish I shared your confidence, I've got to make the thing :D

I'm happy with part 2 though (reupload 2moro). I've got a few ideas for future parts.

  • Great vid! But soccer still sux ;)

  • @thekswervedirt .....Soccer....?.....oh you mean football (ie the sport played primarily with your feet, as opposed to your hands) ;)

Football is best sport in the world! That's just a fact!

    Glad you enjoyed! Peace :D

  • @Dom0nePhilosophy Its called Soccer in the U.S. To a avoid confusion with American Football.

  • @Dom0nePhilosophy Dang. I bet you like road course racing over oval, too. Its a wonder why I'm a fan of yours.... :D

  • I'm very excited about this series. I find this subject endlessly fascinating. The brain is such a wondrous and mysterious thing. Every thing we are originates there. Many people believe in a "soul" because they can't even begin to comprehend or even ponder how our brains make us who we are.

  • @Roseybaby63 Thank you! I agree, it's a mind-blowingly, fascinating subject (pardon the pun). True, in my opinion, the concept of a "soul" has just been used to fill in the gaps, so we're not forced to admit ignorance and say "i don't know".

Part 2 uploaded tomorrow. I haven't done any more yet, these things take ages to think about and make. If you or anybody else has any subjects that you would like to be put in this series, i'm all ears. As long as I understand the subject of course.

  • I too was quite young when I noticed that many of my observations of the world did not match what I was being told. The observations told me more about the real world than the stories from the elder folks. Food stuff.

  • @ToldCurkey Unlucky :)

  • My argument against the soul notion: Suppose you break down a human being (with a “soul”) into its atoms. No soul anymore, right? He's dead. Now, you reassemble it all, using those exact same atoms to reconstruct the exact same living man. Poof, the soul has come back. Now repeat this a million times. Looks like you are in complete control of the soul jumping into and out of existence. Uh oh! I thought only god does that! God is implanting and removing the soul at your whims, apparently.

  • @MrStillmans Good point. A "soul" is exceptionally integral upon atoms/matter functioning correctly.

  • If you lowered the pitch of your voice at the beginning, you could sound like 'Cabal' from the 'Command and Conquer' series.

But more to the point, this video was deeply interesting and I thank you for it.

  • @EddieTheFishReturns I certainly can't comment on the first point (I'm sure you're right though), but my comment to the latter is thank you. Cheers man. Peace
