  • Acepteme en game center

  • i do a lot of travelling around the U.S. and some hotels do not have wi-fi so the ethernet port is a must.

  • OMG IS THAT OSAMA BIN LADEN?!?!?!

  • @Daniel123Sicat lame

  • @Daniel123Sicat Ignorant much?

  • i just bought an mbp 2.2 i7 .. totally awesome

  • I was just wondering i havent seen a video from this dude in ages and lo and behold you had mysteriously disappeared from my subs! Weird. Youtube madness.

I also got a 2011MBP but i opted for the standard 2.2, 7200RPM (later switched to a Vertex 3) and the AG HR screen instead. Also skipped Applecare (stuck with the standard 3yr education warranty)

  • Hey, DRBUK, nice unbox video :) Isn't it your 5th Mac?!

  • Designed by apple in california produced in china... Still good quality

  • That's one squeaky tripod!

  • I like the new adapter

  • i have the 13' MBP mid 2009 and im thinking of buying the MBP 15' core i7 mid 2010 2nd hand. well i really need the screen size upgrade. Congrats on your new purchase and hope you like the sandybridge processor. Cheers - Akmal

  • Sick lighting set up for the unboxing. Use it for everything.

  • Who has ever even used a Kensington lock?

  • @kingmadzz I love my K-Lock. I have had roommates steal my my shiz before, but they cant get something that is tied to the desk with a steel cable. Must be nice not to have security concerns.

  • @kingmadzz All the teachers at my school have Macbook pros and use them..

  • Awesome unboxing, very in depth. Have fun with that sandybridge!

  • I got the new power adapter with the new style magsafe after needing to replace my old one. The newer one is very good and I dont see it being "easy" to fall off. Seems just right.

Slight annoyance is if you put it lengthways towards you, it covers the ethernet port. So I end up having a strange twist because of how it needs to be plugged in.

  • Lion has the same intro

  • I have the new MBA and have No problem with the new magsafe whatsoever.

  • I got the new MBP 15.4" and the mag safe cable is brilliant. Never fell out once.

  • The aluminium was not the first Generation Macbook ;)

  • just did geekbench with the same specs as you. I upgraded to 16gig memory and 400gb SSD from macsales.com. my geekbench was 12,567. Youtube to follow.

  • how do u guys affording these fucking comp's?

  • @robosam4 we all have different priority and needs...and some of us has a job etc.

  • you do a great job with your videos and like apple you put quality into your vids and it shows. keep up the great work.

  • 14:05 liking the stand

  • killin it

  • must have cost you couple of thousand.

  • when i didnt see the apple stickets i was immediatly worried - then you pulled them out and there was a sigh of relief also the windows fist boot up is boring and so long. the mac one is so much quicker and easier! cant wait to get one and ditch my pc forever :D

  • when i didnt see the apple stickets i was immediatly worried - then you pulled them out and there was a sigh of relief

  • Haven't had a single problem with my magsafe adaptor in the 10 months i've had my 13" MBP.

About the SD card slot i'm a bit meh.. Only used it twice, as i'm using CF cards in my camera.

  • congrats on your purchase, enjoy!

  • DRBUK in HD!

  • First boots on Windows are always slower than first boots of Macs. After that anyways, Macs boot up really fast because they don't have the long BIOS POST of a Windows PC.

  • The 15" is nice! Congrats! The hinge on my 13" is actually still pretty tight. I hope it doesn't ware out too bad. Oh well.

  • 720p... whoa

  • I've been watching this vid like 5 times now, I don't really know why, but I know that I love Macbook Pro

  • Dude, you might be the biggest faggot in the world.

  • @MsZhangster

    blocked

  • I think mine 17" MBP is small compare to all 17" PC's... It's slick!

  • I use the Ethernet on my MacBook Pro all the time.

  • I have the new MBA 11" and hated the new magsafe charger, the angle are weird and not efficient compared to the old one and the new material that Apple use on the wall charger adapter captor doesn't feel comfortable like the old one.

  • Great vid :D ur soo rich :O

  • Starcraft is a brilliant game...however if you care about your college life DON'T BUY IT!!! It takes over your life!!!!! (literally) It ruined my 2nd year of college (and still is ruining it)

  • The tripod sounds like the knees in the morning. Great upload Adrian.

  • SC2 is SOOOOOOO MUCH FUN, What is your username?

  • But mistake spending the extra $174, should have invested in a high end SSD. By doing this could have saved for a 256GB SSD third party not from apple, EG new Intel SSD range or a new sandforce SSD

  • the opening video should be the same.. it's still mac os x.. at least from what i can understand.. i agree tho the mac os xi boot is going to be interesting..

  • I still use the old one but I have used the new one and because it sticks out, my legs always knock it off when the MB is on my lap.

  • Plus, according to Intel's site, the 2.3GHz core i7M supports up to 1600Mhz memory, while the 2.2GHz quad i7M only supports 1333MHz. I'll be upgrading my mid 2010 MacBook Pro (Dual-core i7) next refresh. Hopefully, they'll have a new design.

  • @akaHICHKAS lol

  • My 13.3 Macbook (year old) had the new MagSafe.. takes a bit to adjust to.. but it is an improvement, (magnets are just as strong). Your videos give me all the info I need. Thanks from Canada.

The Ethernet port is only used when a wireless modem needs to be setup.. but that's it.

  • In regards to the whole "my PC boots up faster" thing. To them I say "I never turn my Mac off, it comes out of sleep instantly when I need it to". They usually have no come back to that because Windows tends to be hit and miss with sleep/hibernate mode lol. It can take as long to come out of sleep as it does to boot up from being off.

  • Why not install SSD manually ??

You can get a decent Intel SSD for less than 100 quid)

  • @bigdima3 SSD's are very expensive if you want a decent capacity. They're fine for desktops using smaller drives, but for laptops, not so much. Unless you take out the optical drive and add a second drive, but I wouldn't bother until it's out of warranty incase something goes belly up!

  • @TalesOfWar I wouldnt say they're expensive, they're far cheaper than they used to be. I saw Intel 80gb SSD for just over 100 quid. In this case im sure you know that one SSD with a slower CPU will impress you more than a faster CPU with HDD.

  • @bigdima3 For the amount of storage you get they're expensive. 80GB is nothing these days, especially for laptops that you use as a laptop. It's fine if you're always using it at a desk or something and put your extra files onto an external drive, or in a desktop where you can use both at the same time, but when you're moving it about the extra space takes priority for most people most of the time.

  • @TalesOfWar You are right, but at the same time, even if you had a large SSD you would still not want to save large files on it) it would be a waste of high performance space. So yeah. what you said about replacing a CD drive with HDD would be a good option.

  • Hey DRB, not sure if you knew this already but the Apple Care Education situation is different to what you explained.

If you buy a MacBook Pro with education discount, you automatically get a 3-year warranty for free. The price of the "Apple Care" is heavily discounted because you're not actually paying for the warranty, just for the phone support!

Hope I sorted that out! - Just getting my MacBook Pro unboxing ready myself! :)

  • i like the old one better, I owned a 13" MacBook and now I have a 13" MacBook Pro and the connector from the new ones are stronger

  • Great laptop unboxing, really appreciate you doing these long vids Adrian despite doing a long medical course, really good video! thanks man

  • YES ETHERNET IS GOOD. when your transfering files from computers to computers at home or office. FTP things over gigabit connection.

  • spent 2.5k on my new macbook pro :P

  • the new magsafe plastic around it falls off after 5 months of having it.

  • What you need to keep in mind is that the 550D doesn't autofocus during video recording. So if you hold stuff up to the camera. It will be blurry. You will either need to manually focus and just edit it so it's seamless.

Btw, did you sell your old 13"?

  • Happy for you mate, at least you bought one when you needed it, as i don.t understand the people that feel the need to upgrade every upgrade. At least you see the difference from you older mac. Enjoy and well done. P.S by the way a lot of people are stunting buying their macs on Hp thats why they upgrade every year. Enjoy the mac. Like your vids mate. Work hard and you get nice products!! NO MORE WINDOWS FOR ME

  • If I honestly had the time, I would so love doing a DRBUK montage where i'd take clips of your videos where you say "I dont have time, busy with uni" lol. Jokes aside, the MBP must be absolutely screaming compared to your MB. Hopefully we can now see more videos, hope you like this formula: new MBP = larger screen = easier to edit + beastly processor = faster exporting.

  • It's in 720p! Congratulations!

  • What are you going to do when the 2012 Macbook Pro comes out. I heard thats going to be a redesign upgrade.

  • 15 inch? I don't know, I travel a lot, and its a little bulky for my liking, My 13 inch one does the job for me. But hope you enjoy yours anyways

  • Personally, I find the old magsafe better.

Hey Adrian a great video would be for you to compare Starcraft II on bootcamp vs Mac OSX. I found on my 2010 MBP 15" that Starcraft runs way better on bootcamp. The game runs noticeably better in windows for me.

    Cheers

  • First boots on windows....so slow

  • i hav to say , new facetime camera looks pretty badass :D

  • Most beautiful song in the world! 14:59

  • the new magsafe wire is much better than the old one!

  • Just block the trolls

  • me too.... i was thinking of getting an iMac, but problem is, is that I travel wayyyy too much.... would be weird to take a 42lbs(20kg) box thats 30"x24"x9" on an airplane or to vacation or a lab

Now that MBPs have so much POWER...its all good

  • How does the student discount work for AppleCare, because when I configure a MacBook Pro on the education store I always get the regular price.

  • There was literaly no point in going for that cpu upgrade.

The stats sound convincing but you probably will not notice the difference.

but the ram you will notice :D

as for the gpu... prepair for some overheating...

  • The video for the Dev preview of Lion is the same one as Leopard and Snow Leopard.

I was fairly disappointed when it played.

    Hopefully it'll change though.

  • Awesome like usual

  • Hey DRBUK I would just like to say I find your videos very informative and cool... Thanks and keep up the good work :D

  • Let's us know if the new chip still heats up too much. I read that heating is improved with sandybridge

  • Man, you go into so much detail for even a simple unboxing. I love it. Keep it up.

  • hi

  • I remember you used to use music to un box stuff .What has happen to you man lol Just messin with you.

  • All out performance system? You could've got an absolute MONSTER laptop for the same price if you went with Windows 7.

  • @beleafer22 It pretty much is a monster! As of now the cpu beats the 27" iMac i7,and is only bested by the Mac Pro 6 core or above. Sandy bridge FTW!

  • @beleafer22 WE KNOW THAT, God, It's his preference to whatever he buys, so leave him

  • @beleafer22 but he would have gotten windows 7 ... which is a failure and ridden with viruses ... a system thats fully integrated and made to work with the software will always work better, faster and more efficient (OSX) then one which has software and hardware made separately (windows)

  • Adrain Why didn't you go for the hi-res you stinge?

  • yes is 1am on mexico lol

  • great video btw cant wait for the 1 hr video review :)
