  • Do you have to do it peice by peice or can you put all of the track together for your yard and do it then?

  • @CessnaN64107

definitely connect all of your track, and then pour the plaster over everything all at once. I just used a single piece of track because thats all i had at the time to demonstrate

  • thank u this actualy works

  • Cool idea, but dang, get a tripod. lol

  • @spicymchaggis666

This video was made 2 years ago, If you see my recent videos you may find them a bit less... bad

  • I would like too know more about the electrics so that If I wanted too place a switch I won't end up with two trains rolling at the same time when i bring on over onto a siding..

  • @canadiantimberwolf1

Do you use DCC or DC ?

  • @modeltrain9500 .. neither as yet,but i would lie too know the difference,I am thinking of building one when i get back home too Canada after living in the UK for the last 8 years. I just remember starting a layout when I was a kid and just could not get a complete circuit and when ever i set up a siding both trains would run and that is not good as they would kinda bump into each other and short out..LOL. Thanks

  • thx so much i like i ask my mate who is making a fiddel yard at the moment and told me to thank u

is this layout or urs dc or dcc

  • @jmsschooner

your welcome! This is my layout, and it is DCC.

  • This is truly an awesome idea! I've been wondering how to do my maintanence yard & roundhouse w/turntable and this is it! This will work out perfectly. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us in this great hobby. BTW, you're really talented when it comes to these instructional videos you're doing. I've already noticed an improvement in your videos since your first postings. Keep up the good work! Time to crash now so I'll check out the rest of your videos tomorrow. Thanks again!

  • @walkerbelle

Thanks, I hope it works out for you! I appreciate the commenting!

  • is his simalar to a real yard

  • @StuartRedman1

Yes, some yards are identical to this, just much, much larger

  • what about power if a train needs to run over it?

  • @JaxComixProductions

Since you made the concrete level to the height of the rail, a little fine sandpaper will fully expose the top of the rail, which is what provides the train with power

  • For some other kind of proyect, I recomend you to get a tripod and place the camera in steady position and show procedures, parts, tools and materials to the camamra, so you dont make yor viewers dizzy.

  • @SPARTAKVS23

Thanks for your imput... this winter I plan to remake this video with higher quality and more descriptive.. as well as a stable camera

  • I think you can also make a railroad crossing with the same stuff!

  • nice video dude

  • thanks

  • sweet good video going to do this now!

  • let me know how it turns out..

  • i have marklin track with the third rail could i still do the way u did your yard

  • yes, you could do this for pretty much any track as long as you cut spaces for the flanges of the wheels

  • thanks man

  • no problem, i post these videos specificaly for these questions. so, your welcome

  • wow, thanks guys for all your comments and views. this seems to be a big hit for you guys.

  • how do i know what a "part" of water or a "part" of plaster is?

  • it could be anything. 1 part is just like X or Y in a math problem. for example... X=water Y= plaster 2x + 1Y= plaster mix.

you dont always need to pay attention to that. i generally just estimate what i think would work well. it should be able to be poured, but stay in place where you put it. sort of like pancake mix i guess.

    does that help?

  • ok cool thank you!!! and yes it does lol

  • Great! I'm going to try it!

  • great!, tell me how it works out for you. new vid coming this afternoon

  • OK!

  • videos up, check it out

  • you could do this for roads and railroad crossings

  • yep, you could do it for a ton of things.

  • thank you very much for making this video!! i was looking for a way to do this.

also, for cleaning it, would i be able to use that track eraser for the track to clean it like usual?

  • i would imagine so. like i said, the only problem you may run into is that you mess up the paint. but if you put a TON of the paint in the plaster when you mix it, then you wont have a problem at all. otherwise, you will be in a circle of cleaning and painting, cleaning and painting lol. lemme know how it works for you

    thanks for commenting,

    dave

  • ok cool i will!!! i could also use this for like grade crossings and streets correct? i mean would it look fine?

  • That is a cool way to do it.

  • yea, its really easy, but looks great when its all done too
