  • i am 5 ft 9in, not muscular at all and was dunking after using Strength Shoes for 3 months. i was weiging like 145 lbs.

  • Calves are only a minor part in the total power output used for jumping. Instead of trying to get a nice set of calves, try to get a rock hard butt. I bet it will do you more good!

  • how is he not jumping that high? his feet are at least 3 feet from the ground and he's 6'1'' with arm reach that measures out just fine. everyone hates when they cant dunk but other people can so they shoot em down. some people have it and some dont, thats how it is.

  • @spiritoflife777 its not even that. anyone can dunk. depending on height. if ur like 4 ft sumthing prolly not haha! but still point is... hard work. dedication. and the right mind set along with knowing wat workouts to do and plyometrics. ANYONE CAN DUNK. i see it all over youtube. ppl adding 5 inches in a month. do that for a yr around. u should be able to add around 8-12 inches. shouldnt be that hard to dunk with that much more lift than sumone has already. its one of my goals in life.

    but jumpsoles are real good ... the help u to switch ur body weight or the weights u lift to other muscles which helps u workout on the less developed fibers on ur body ...

    can juz recommend the soles works great

  • Jump soles works for you, if you are telling the truth... every person has to find his own training method :)

  • I disagree. There are tried and true methods of gaining explosiveness and improving reactive ability. Jumpsoles tend to "work" for "natural" athletes who would have gotten the same gains from doing the same exercises without them. For those of us that have less of a genetic gift, lifting heavy weights to build a power base, honing that base with explosive movements, and realizing your reactive potential through plyometrics are much more effective in consistently increasing your vertical.

  • There is no reason why you can't be both large and muscular and jump high. Look at football players for example. There are plenty of guys who have worked for every inch of vertical that they have through amassing huge amounts of strength and then working on explosiveness. All you need to do to confirm that is check out NFL combine training workouts. A larger, stronger muscle is going to give you more potential to jump high so long as you're maintaining specific activity (your sport/jumping).

  • It's not about genetic gift it's about how you train... David also trained using alternative methods.

    But I know some examples, when people tried one method and gained vertical I also know same people(including me) who have tried many training methods... I found my own now, so I'll see what the results will be...

    It's going to become just like alternative medicine in athletic training..."oh, I'm using Jumpsoles and taking saw palmetto...I've gained like 4 inches on my vert no lie."

    You can try a bunch of methods, or you can try methods with proven efficacy. Some people discredit heavy weights b/c they temporarily lose vert, but don't take into consideration the later vert increases they got were due to getting stronger and not just to doing exercise X.
