iodine shmiodine... back in the jungles of Vietnam we just used dead gook blood for water purification.. A BIT SALTY..BUT IT DID THE TRICK...

a cheap individual bottle purifier costs around 40 bucks, but a standard pump purifier goes between $60-140. the pump ones are better in the long run.

i used iodine on a 10 day backpacking trip, worked fine, u could also put a bandana over your canteen or bottle to get the water and then iodine it

Dan I believe that hydrogen peroxide [[35% food grade is much safer isn't it? use only FOOD GRADE. not the peroxide you get at dollar gereral It is only 3% and poisonise.
