@Nijuka87 Alien is, first and foremost, science fiction, followed by horror. There's not much room for thriller, isn't there? Science fictions films can either be thrillers or horrors, NOT sci-fi/horror thriller (that's far fetched). A sci-fi thriller is Frequency, Deja Vu and Blade Runner.

@Nancy99999 I will disagree on Alien NOT being a "horror thriller" IF that definition means a movie that has you on the edge of you seat throughout.

from the time the Alien jumps on Kane's space helmet in the alien ship, it's one heart in you throat scene after another. the wife and I saw it in 1979 and it's STILL the most pee your pants suspenseful movie we have ever seen. Ridley Scott just showing short glimpses of the alien was brilliant as it heightened the suspense to the max.

@LeRinkRat Yes, it is a thriller. In fact, nearly every film out there could be a thriller, because a lot of films have suspense. But that's just going too broad, isn't it? We can might as well label a full blown action film, western, war or a superhero film a thriller now, huh? Die Hard will always be known as action and Spider-Man as superhero action (and they have a lot of suspense). Alien is safely a sci-fi horror - and horror is just another word for suspense, in the movies world.

some films here don't come out suspense, but of other genre's. psycho, the exorcist, the shining, silence of the lambs, come out suspense and of the good ones. a clue: attend THE NEW DAUGHTER, it is a good suspense film.

Pulp Fiction is probably always been regarded as an action movie. Same with Reservoir Dogs. I have always thought that the horror and thriller is not the same genre, compare for example, The Usual Suspects and The Exorcist. Full Metal Jacket is a war drama. Suspense? Well, maybe. 2001 is a dramafilm. Goodfellas I would categorize as action and drama. But anyway, this is a very good list :) Alien and Terminator 2 is well in my eyes mediocre movies, not the other tops on the list.

Where the hell is Rear Window, Identity, Single White Female, Unlawful Entry, The Crush, Misery, Red Eye, Breakdown, The Vanishing, Disturbia, etc. These are TRUE suspense/thrillers, man.

Psycho and Silence of the Lambs were the only true thrillers.

Man, you need to learn a lot about genres. No offence. Most of the movies you listed there were either action, science fiction, horror or crime.

Psycho is not only the best suspense out of all these, but it's the one movie that defines thriller suspense. It cannot just be tossed at #14 just like that.
