Samba Pati feat. Roy Hargrove - African childhood Music Video
A nostalgic recollection of old photographs from Angelique's childhood in West Africa, set to the rhythm of SAMBA PATI feat. Roy Hargrove (OYO - 2010).
my mother took me to her concert in africa a very long time ago and i have followed her ever since....she's SPIRIT ! Without a mike, u can hear her loud and clear at the back of the auditorium. Amazingly powerful stage ACTION....u never get tired of her.....full of energy..... an icon, african beacon....a totality of ART......I'll always love her....and all these are understatements !
A friend of mine and I were watching 'Tavis Smiley' tonight and Angelique Kidjo was his guest. After seeing the show we looked at each other and said "where have we been?". Neither of us was familiar with her and we decided to look her up on Youtube. WOW! She is truly remarkable and extremely talented. The world needs more people like Angelique Kidjo. God bless.
We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.
Angelique, tu est un rayon de soleil pour moi si tu viens a Montréal j'aimerais te rencontrer et voir un spectacle de toi fais moi signe si tu as des date pour Montréal
My aunt took me to her concert last night as a surprise. I'd never heard of her until last night and she was amazing. So much fun, making everyone dance and get up on stage. She's funny, inspiring, and her voice is amazing.
I have this album & it is wonderful. One of my favorite songs is Djin Djin w/Alicia Keys. I have been a fan of Angelique Kidjo for many years now & when I think of Afrika & all of its splendor & beauty, she surely comes to mind.
I agree with all of you.Angelique is the singing queen of Africa. Her voice is so powerful and passionate. I attended her concert in November last year in Copenhagen and she was sparkling with energy, the way she moved on the stage and the way she made people dance on the stage was just amazing:)You don't have to understand a language in order to like the music. The music is the language and it is certainly universal. Ever since I heard her new cd Djin Djin I became completely addicted to her:)
I have never been more entranced, hypnotized and wowed by anyone! She has a passion, a strength, a courage, a power, a soul that transcends herself to others! She is so right when she says that the music language is a universal one. I have no idea what she speaks when she sings in her mother tongue. But I sure do feel the myriad of emotions and they all leave me exhausted with pleasure. And in this pleasure I am connected to her world. The world of compassion and understanding!
I totally agree Thunesite. Her music is electric. I feel a kindred connection with the rythym, drum beats and essence of the sound. I too don't know the language but feel compelled in appreciating it's athenticity.
She is amazing in person. I went to one of her concerts and she is AMAZING (that is an understatement). She has such a powerful presence. I would love to personally meet her.
I only heard her for the first time two days ago and I'm already in love with her voice, her dancing, her energy... I'll be the first one in line for that CD.
gal no that sound at the beg is miriams signature style anyhow u r much younger than she miriam is about 76 today .... but thats her style angelique like your pipes but your are agressive and come out as conceited .... i listen to your voice humble yrself many successful musicians are loved for first who they are next to their talent cos lots of africans are talented ....contrary to popular believe
You are the BEST!!! I love you so much! I have been following your career since you first came out. I remember you at the Blue Note in NYC (1994). You are so ALIVE, mami!!!!
This Informative, Educational & Entertaining video is really great. We have a UNICEF singer in our town Hayley Westenra & I am proud of her.Tho I like the Traditional instrument sound, I prefer modern music to rock my sox off. Interaction & participation, I believe to be far better than just listening to a CD.
I'm SO looking forward to this album. I heard the title track with Alicia Keys, and I'm totally feelin' it. Angelique is an amazing artist, and she gets better every time she puts out a new album--big ups ;-)
I love Angelique Kidjo. She's an awesome singer (even better live), awesome dancer and awesome person. I went to the Josh Groban concert last week. The duet between her and Josh was the best part of the show. That song Pearls was actually done by Sade first, but they made it so much better.
