  • if she isn't singing this live then she recorded a special version for this because they are missing an entire part about the man running to the telephone and being sick

  • karencarpenterfan1: The hairdo is hideous. The outfit is not bad.

  • @Froggboots Yeah you're right!

  • Great song! Thanks for uploading!

  • The greatest singer of all time. And that includes Aretha, which is saying something. Also, regarding the Lady GaGa comment...I thought that GaGa was great. You need to watch the Monster Ball tour DVD...she won me over. But the pickings are sure slim these days after losing Amy.

  • wow shes about 50 here and singing live her voice was still really great. the greatest soul singer ever

  • She had breast cancer...but she was also a lot older here tha the other videos which were from the 60's and early 70's....She was amazing.... RIP Your voice was the voice of my youth..

  • She looks bad in this video. Did she die shortly after this?

  • @Froggboots No, she dead 10 years later.

  • @neonouille2 EGADS. She looks pretty rough here. Always loved her music.

  • @Froggboots i think it's the makeup and the clothes honestly

  • WOW HOW WONDERFULL IS THIS IM AMAZZZZZZZED XXXXXXXXXXX

  • THANKYOU MAM

  • Exotic & hypnotic, Dusty looks gorgeous and sounds sublime...love "Reputation" Lp and programming goons were crazy not giving this masterwork airplay...would have been huge!!! Timeless, nobody compares to this amazing legend...Bravo Dusty, RIP & love and miss you!

  • so sad i think she had finally concered her personal demands then she was taken away!! think her last cd was great

  • She always sounded sensational... always.

  • Thanks Dusty, a genuine legend, still appreciated 60 years on, no one around now can possibly hope to achieve what you did,R.I.P

  • HOW CAN I LOVE SOMEONE WHO IS GONE?@^$*(^$@

  • dusty love you 4ever x

  • We have her to thank for the Motown in the uk.

  • Incredible woman...rest in peace, my dear.

  • her voice was supreme.....comparable , in her day, to the greatest..Etta, Aretha, Judy....Dionne Warwick said the same in an interview, and Dionne was a great vocalist.... I miss Dusty so much....so sad that she had , I understand, a sad life...overall, but Im sure she had moments of glory..RIP Dusty..you will never be forgotten...

  • Good voice, Bad hair. Spoze it was still the 80s. Everyone was at it.

  • @soundseeker63 twas a good era though :)

  • Looking gorgeous & sounding sublime, nobody could match this legends hypnotic soulful quality...Dusty you are missed!

  • i remember her nice voice all day.

    thanks DUSTY

    Hans

  • her costume designer should be arrested

  • @7805mimo It was 1989 we were all at it

  • who else? petula, dot, sandie

  • What a wonderful performance. Thanks.

  • PS- and she looks GOOD here! Go ahead and show off that trim figure, Dusty! ;)

  • I like Dusty's take on the song here- the vocal may not have been live at that moment, but hey, she recorded it earlier that day & sounded great...good enough for me. :)

also, what's with this "elephant in the room" business about her voice? I think only the most naive would say her voice was still the same as it was in 1969. She was older, & had been through a very rough time. But her voice never lost that quality that made it so unique...

  • scandal, best film ever made.oh that and police academy 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  • Dusty (Mary O!Brian) what a voice xx

  • Happy New years eve 2009. WOW what a truly wonder artist and beautiful lady.

  • @andydiana

you don't have knowledge of voices.

Dusty was the best singer of the world back in the '60.

  • @jackflash3000

I agree she was a great singer, but disagree that she was better than Aretha Franklin, Shirley Bassey, Diana Ross or Dionne Warwick!!!!

  • @andydiana

that's your opinion and not a fact.

    End of discussion.

  • @jackflash3000 I agree with you though I wish you had been a little easier on andydiana. This video clip is not a good representation of Ms. Springfield (actually Ms. O' Brien) in her prime. The voices of singers age along with the rest of their bodies and there is simply no way she could hit the same notes at age 50 as she did at age 25; and her prime was before the other (at least most of the other) singers mentioned. So, andydiana was doing an improper comparison IMHO

  • @andydiana I don't know how you measure a comparison like that because I think in these cases it's style & emotion over technical perfection.

  • She is lipsynching to a live recorded vocal done that afternoon in the Granada Studios, with Simon Bell whispering the "it's a scandal" lines done by Neil Tennent on the record

  • @eattom Same day vocals??!? - and that means a mixdown too...

  • that's right

  • A great talented lady!

  • God bless our sweet angel, may she find peace and happiness, we all miss you so much.

  • Great song!

  • The greatest female vocalist.......ever....

  • she is a true legend !

  • I get chills hearing her sing; but she is lip-syncing here.

  • It was common practice for live TV shows at the time sadly.

  • Yes indeed BlueSmurf10, lip-syncing was (& is) common. Hey I'm curious why my comment "I get chills hearing her sing; but she is lip-syncing here" has 4 thumbs down? I LOVE Dustys singing, but if you think it's live, check out 2:14 The words "there's" (mic is 3 feet from mouth) "ninety" (mic is now right on mouth, yet both words are equal volume & sound). That can only be lip-syncing if it went live to air like that.

  • I dare'nt use my computer until late in the evening, because once it's turned on I surf the news, read my e-mails & see to any replies, then it's straight to you tube music and Dusty untill the early hours of the morning, I can never get enough of listening to Dusty, and I know I'm not the only one. R.I.P lass you're greatly missed.

    Love & miss you loads Ray♥ X X X

  • Wow! What a loss to us all, total professionalism and class, one of a kind.

    R.I.P Dusty, love and the greatest of respect Ray♥ X X X

  • Looking gorgeous & sounding sublime, nobody reached the level of brilliance that Dusty so easily acheived and this stunning performance is timeless magic...Bravo Dusty!!!

  • Brilliance! I can not believe this would have been 20 years ago!

I think every Dusty fan would like to thank the Pet Shop Boys for bringing Dusty back into the limelight!

Dusty was the greatest and always will be!

  • Just fantastic on every level

  • Dusty was the best

  • The most stunning talent of the 60s era, and an incredibly lovely lady to boot. RIP x x x x x

  • superb

  • It was really sad seeing Lady GaGa singing Dustys part on the Brits. She was

truely one of the best female singers ever and I agree no one should cover her material.

  • Dusty was so entirely dtunning to the last. Gorgeous on top of gorgeous.

  • What a brilliant version of this song! Was thinking of Dusty tonight after seeing Pet Shop Boys on the Brits and Lady GaGa singing Dusty's part on "What Have I Done To Deserve This." No one, NO ONE can ever touch Dusty.

  • Thanks!

BTW There's a chat forum, look for Let'sTalkDusty on the net.

    Frans

  • Again I have to say wonderful she was so talented and so sad she was taken from us too soon. So thank God for Youtube and the great selection of Dusty. I f there was a fan club I'd join it.

  • I can't believe it's 10 years this year since she passed away

  • Perfect song at the perfect time for you Dusty.I glimpse Heaven every time I hear your voice see your face or feel your grace.

  • 02:17 : oops... :-P

  • I miss Dusty, why do best singers always dies first......

  • I miss the 80's....and I'm only 20!! :-P

  • fabulous performance!!!!

  • This is semi playback, its totaly different to the album mix and the 7inch edits, whats happened Dusty must have recorded the vocals early on in the day, as the show was live then at night sang over the the vocals she put down early on, its a stunning mix this versions never been heard on record b4 so enjoy shes fantastic xx rip dear see ya on the other side ...ur amazing!!!

  • beautiful

  • Love the Pet Shop Boys for seeking her talent back then. Love them for loving her enough to care to work with them. Beneficial partnership on many levels...

  • Such a great talent, taken much too soon. You ae truly missed Dusty. May God grant you peace.

  • What a stupid remark, she wasn't any more than a smoker in company and seeing she made albums after this in fine voice, your theory is disproved. Quite often on shows the producer demands they mime. They have no say in it.

  • Legend!

  • beautiful...

  • Such a powerfully restrained beautiful voice she had, and when she gives it some welly at the end yer hairs stand up on the back of yer neck

  • the pet shop boys produced this for her

  • A true Star.

Rest in peace, Dusty. You are missed. x

  • class

  • thank you for posting this! ;-))

  • fabulous!

  • i love dusty

  • WE MISS YOU
