And finally this notion that America provides "more welfare and social programs" is a total myth. It is the only developed country in the world not have universal healthcare. Costa Rica does better in the WHO rankings. Thats shameful. America also consistantly spends less on almost every form public policy than the G8, from schools to welfare to bridges (which tend to collapse). Mainly because the top rate of income tax is so low and there is so much military spending.
You also realise that Ireland has in fact got into this mess by letting capitalism run wild unabashed. Irelands expriments with low coporation tax and extreme laisse faire economic policy caused a spectacular collapse. Now the germans are bailing them out on the condition they essentially return to a classic european social market model. Another thing that annoys me is when they go "name a socialist country that works". And they forget about Norway, Sweden and Denmark (literally the wealthiest and most productive countries in the world). These countries have the highest welfare payments and tax burden of any nation in the world. But because of their wise investment in public services, they have the post productive populations on planet, minus resource-rich countries like Qatar.

I don't think you understood my comment. I'm not arguing about the definition of nationalisation but the selective way in which Beck uses language to distort historical fact. The Nazi's (while obviously including the word "socialist" in their name) were not very left of centre in terms of economic policy. While they did advocate deficit spending, they also outlawed unions and strikes! Post-war Britain and France were far more socialist (and maybe still are!) than Nazi Germany.
I watched this a second time and realised Beck hadnt made a mistake. At 1:15 he starts saying nationalist socialist and then suddenly changes it to nationaliSED socialist. He isn't ignorant, he knows exactly what he's doing: changing the facts just a little bit to suit his rhetoric.

Capitalism works well, but government needs to be there to protect the workers from extortion and fraud. Yet, yesterday, he was telling people that if someone's lack of tolerance begins with diversity of opinion on policies then said person should re-examine his belief system.

Another thing that annoys me is when they go "name a socialist country that works". And they forget about Norway, Sweden and Denmark (literally the wealthiest and most productive countries in the world). These countries have the highest welfare payments and tax burden of any nation in the world. But because of their wise investment in public services, they have the post productive populations on planet, minus resource-rich countries like Qatar.

The people making a couple hundred thousand/year are only rich by the standards of everyone else who is trying to live off around 60,000 or significantly less. I don't think you understood my comment. I'm not arguing about the definition of nationalisation but the selective way in which Beck uses language to distort historical fact. The Nazi's (while obviously including the word "socialist" in their name) were not very left of centre in terms of economic policy. While they did advocate deficit spending, they also outlawed unions and strikes! Post-war Britain and France were far more socialist (and maybe still are!) than Nazi Germany.

Thats awful. You don't need to be a history graduate to know that the Nazi party was not the NationaliSED Socialist Party but the NationaLIST Socialist Party. Nationalised and Nationalist are to completely different words with rather opposite meanings. Nationalising something means bringing under public ownership. Being a Nationalist, means espousing an extreme right ideology which proposes extreme jinogism, racism and hatred of minorities.

Capitalism works well, but government needs to be there to protect the workers from extortion and fraud. It was unions and government regulations that built up the middle class and created groups like the FDA. You have to have a balance. Government is less efficient than businesses, but businesses and corporations are more likely to abuse their workers for the benefit of the bottom line.
