Johnson county Kansas is doing it right now. Has been doing it for at least 10 years. They have a privet jail and a half way center. The judges work together to put victimless crime offenders in jail for the most pathetic charges. If you get a traffic ticket and have to see a judge, you will be forced to take a drug test. If you are 15 or 70 it doesn't matter. It's disgusting.

this isn't new it's standard operating procedure for judges across the country..not just kids but also adults in the private prison system..when they started privatizing prisons the prison population shot up..they target the poor who can't afford good legal action.. the prisons should be fined and the administrators jailed for as long as the total sentences of the kids if 100 kids got 1 yr each then they judge and the company should get 100yrs no parole

The case you are looking for is In re Gault. It was a US Supreme Court case that set precedent that juveniles MUST BE afforded due process, ESPECIALLY due to their age and inability to understand the trial process.

This also is one of the grievance listed in the Declaration of Independence, which state, "For depriving us in many cases of the benefits of trial by jury."

1787 Constitution, Amendment 6, "In ALL CRIMINAL PROSECUTIONS, the accused SHALL ENJOY THE RIGHT to a speedy public trial, by an impartial jury..."

Notice ---SHALL ENJOY--- means that the individual may not waive that right. Nowhere in the Constitution does it allow a person too waive the right to an impartial jury trial in criminal cases.

you see, i was under the impression juvenile courts were a little diferent than adult, hence the term "tried as an adult..." in some situations.why they do that is becuz the constitution protects kids from certain punishments and ways of trial that adults are succeptible to. one being the trial by jury.

Juvenile Courts are not Constitutional in my opinion. Crime is Crime. When we punish anyone differently for ANY reason, we merely send the STRONG SIGNAL that under "THESE" situations CRIME PAYS!

im not sure the answer to your question, however every lawyer ive ever talked to, and anyone involved in juvenile crim litigation has told me juv dont get bail or trial by jury.

so perhaps you are correct in saying that you become a citizen when you are 18. i mean if you look elsewhere in the constitution, you see that you dont get some of those rights till you are 18..ie voting etc. you cant buy weapons until youre 18, and that seems to contrdict the 2nd ammendment,...

Citizens can obtain US Passports and children can, via their parents, obtain US Passports.

There are many such laws, not only juvenile but also many adult criminal trials and practices that violate the Constitution.
