  • There's an excellent group on Facebook that is relevant for this video: 'Festivals fans with flags are cunts'.

  • Amazing as always,

  • Hope they're at this years Glasto!

  • They skipped Little Baby Nothing (see the setlist at 3:04) because they were running out of time!! They should've played that one too. How can they run out of time, let them play the music, it's great!! Wish I was there...

  • At the risk of being thumb downed outta the building I think the crowd reaction is very telling of the manics place in the hearts of the music-enjoying public.

Compare this crowds reaction to that the 2001 (i think) Glastonbury and its frankly wierd. in 01 they were playing a headline slot with everyone jumping.

Incidently i dont agree with the manics relegation in pop culture. SATG and JFPL were both rarely excellent albums. I'm just saying the manics are over as a "popular" force.

    :(

  • the manics never were bothered that much about popularity like richey said they would carry on making music as long as there is one person who listens to them

  • i personally see what you talking about, but the 2003 performance (i believe you referring to) was perfect. Here, the mix is a bit wrong, and its not one of the best performances. I dont agree with your opinion about popularity though. Just watch the reading 08 and t in the park 09 ADFL's. epic dosent do it justice. just my opinion tho, and i still respect urs :)

  • you are soo right man.

  • Nicew Weather :(

  • @Lonelywreckage6

i don't know its so much to do with the manics popularity that people are not jumping about anymore - i think its down to the sort of crowd you get at glastonbury these days - its more for middle age mondeo driving office workers looking for corporate entertainment rather than the "young passionate about music teens and twenty-somethings who would go a long and have a good mosh

  • @rancidrancidrancid33

Spoken by a true non glasto-goer! Maybe if u go to glasto you may realise you are talking out of your harris!!

in regards to the crowds reaction - the weather was bloody awlful his year...you could hardly walk let alone jump!!!!!! muddy as f**k!

  • @rancidrancidrancid33 I agree with this, most people just wanted A design for life and get then to get dry ASAP

  • While I don't agree that the FD stuff is 'yawn-tastic' (I like the post-Richey stuff too *embarrassed grin*) it is a rather crap crowd.

  • Oi! Oi! Oi! Oi! Whaddever. Stop using words like 'gay' and 'Welsh' as insults you cretinous bigot.

  • If you absolutely insist on clicking on a video purely for the purpose of insulting the band in question, could you at least learn how to spell a relatively simple word like 'Motown'? I mean you've already disproved your intelligence by using 'gay' and 'welsh' as insults you don't need to do it twice over.

  • gay? no, they're all married, and saying u hate them cos they're welsh is racist.

  • I know...why are you telling me all this? Tell the cretinous bigot.

  • it mentioning it to both of u, not to cause any offense to you musicnobtobe, i cant see u've done anything wrong, but i just cant stand seeing a great songs comments turn like this. Once again, no offense meant to ur intelligence :)

  • Thanks. Now back on track (I hate arguments on Youtube) I'm not sure about the crowd's reaction (this isn't directed at you in turn boeingbloke) being an indicator of just how far the Manics have slipped off the radar. I think SATT and JFPL are excellent albums in very different ways and they've managed to salvage their careers. At this point (Glasto 07) they were just working their way back into the public eye. The crowds they get now are always up for it :)

  • @Deadeye55 prick

  • It was the worst crowd I've ever seen at a concert. The manics played properly old stuff from when they were interesting and the crowd only reacted when they played yawn-tastic Forever Delayed stuff and Your Love Alone. Was a great set but the crowd were only there to wait for Kaisers. There's a small group near the front you can see jumping about, I'm proud to say I was a member of it.

  • yeah what's up with the crowd, ungrateful motherfuckers!!!!

  • Got to agree with the tory scum barely moving. Crap crowd.

  • lol James made me laugh so much!

  • what means "strobing" ?

  • flashing lights

  • i have to ask- what happened to Little baby nothing. Did they miss it out?

  • Same here for Leeds 2001.

  • Do they still play the holy bible stuff? I hope so, i was thinking about getting tickets for their upcoming tour.

  • Yeah, there's still a few Holy Bible tracks in the sets these days.

Sadly they're not playing near me this time. Hopefully they do another tour this year, they usually do a December tour when they announe a small summer tour like the upcoming one.

  • MY DESIgn for LIFE........

I actully have one its erh Marvelously simple, its called PEACE

If you would like to know how thiswouldbe instigated without the means of massive de-population or geoncide then feel free to ask..... ¦]

  • all the middle class tories pretending to understand the lyrics, hilarious

  • who the hell are the people standing at the edge of the stage at 4:12??

  • Isn't it friends and family? I saw a couple of little kids who could be daughters of Nicky and Sean.

  • Probably their familly's and Friends

When i saw Lostprophets in the Full ponty, they had their parents on the sides of the stage

  • the crowd at glasto is suck as they always be

    no moving looks like zombies

  • yeah rock n roll

  • i was there yaya manic rock

  • I thought they were actually a little below par at Glasto last year. Same with 'O3. They can puul off amaizing festival shows (Reading 01 springs to mind - they were stunning that night).

Bring on Satruday night at Reading - 9th time and counting.

God Like Geniuses? Nah. They're far more important :-)

  • he was too scared to sing 'i laughed, when lennon got shot' in motown junk, and whats with all the 'god bless you' nonsense he comes out with at every gig. i think they peaked with the bible.

  • Ive seen the Manics live maybe 7 or 8 times and this is the first time ive ever heard James say god bless you... as for "i laughed when lennon got shot".. JDB said after Richey left he wasnt going to sing that lyric for personal reasons...

  • i stand corrected, though JDB did say god bless you in norwich last year - it only winds me up cos i really like crucifix kiss. i also reckon if the manics of yesteryear could look forward and see themselves doing a cover of 'umbrella' then all of them would have gone AWOL on 01/02/95.

  • thats no maybe mate... they've gone commercial, no doubting that... but, just trying to line their pockets before they draw the pension... still legends and cant fault them for anything...

  • Its hard when you lose a person like Richey. Nicky is a decent lyricist (design for life/motorcycle emptiness etc) but he can't speak in the same way as Richie. Plus they are a lot more mature now...it is easier to say "fuck the world" etc when you are younger....but when you are heading on 40 you look a bit of a twat. The change means they a treated a bit more serious...but i fully agree, they peaked on THB but they are legends.

  • what does James shout at the end of Motown Junk? Does anyone know?

  • I don't know what he says on this recording, I think it's somrthing different but on record he says 'we live in urban hell, we destroy rock and roll.'

  • "love you three times!"

    manics will always be amazing.

    x

  • Why is the audience forced to stand so far away from the stage?

  • That is because there is about 75,000+ people there... actually there is probably more. It's huge at Glastonbury.

  • the manic street preachers r legends and always will be :)

  • The killers no han demostrado nada hasta el momento, salvo el egocentrismo de su cantante.

  • Thanks for posting this great piece of music =)

    -JDB is a rock god!

  • So 401skysports,a band get picked up by indie wannabee's and MTV and suddenly they're the greatest band ever? For headlining a few festivals? I like The Killers but they cannot touch the Manics, get real man, isten to some real music and not what "The Rock Chart" tell's you.

  • ive seen the killers the manics and muse numerous times...id rate them as killers 3rd..manics 2nd(my fav band) but muse put on the best live show..they were unbelievable at oxygen this yr..so were the killers..manics dont have the commercial appeal anymore to headline..

  • muse are waaaaaay too produced when playing live- many pre-recordeed tracks is not what a "live" show should be. i've never seen the manics, but i love them. the killers are a terrific band, and they put on a great live show.

  • How many festivals have they headlines is irrelevant, how many should they have deserved to of headlined is the real question. The killers are SHITE.

  • How long have killers been around?? The Manics are still the nuts. Killers second album proves that they haven't got the consistant class that the Manics have. I've seen both bands on numerous occasions at Glastonbury. No contest as live performers. The Manics are still the dogs b*ll*cks!!

  • Ahh 401skysports you are the dip shit - Manics have headlined Reading and Glasto loads of times in the early Nineties and released the Holy Bible [best fucking album of all time] - Killers release the shambles that is Sam's town - ha - kindly go and fuck yourself!

  • So just because a band headlines fests that must make them good. Well OMG that must mean Razorshite are teh best band evar!!!!111

  • That is a load of pish. The manics have released many album all of which prove they are brilliant, consistent to. The killers are nothing but an average, mediocre american wannabes.

  • manics are good but don't come anyway near the killers at the moment.

  • Are you actually serious or being a shit troll?

  • cant compare the two,the manics are legends,no one gonna member the killers in 10 yrs

  • well drav6 people will remember the killers in ten years, REMEMBER THEM BEING SHIT!! they are no thret to the manics! so i agree with you!

  • ha! you have got to be joking 401skysports! the killers suck cock! the manics have a very intresting history! but i can't say i've been a fan since 'new art riot' because i wasn't even born! but i have been a fan since childhood because my cousin always played the holy bible, generation terrorists and gold against the soul, every time i was at her house! the killers won't be around in 2 years or so, or actually less, plus who is better looking, wire or flowers!? wire ofcourse! so get to fuck!

  • Really well said. I doubt very much that any band today will gain a whole new army of fans over and over again, as long as the Manics keep going, they will always have longevity, even when they stop. A kid who's born today will I doubt very much remember any of the irrelevant shallow crap thats around today

  • saw them live at Glasto, just fantastic, thank you Manics

  • Did he say "We destroy urban chic"? Can't quite make it out.

  • yes oliverreedisdead, he does, but may i ask, what is 'urban chic'!?

  • Still subperb!

  • the Manic Street Preachers dick on the Killers.

  • Fuck the killers, they're awful. Manics are legends. Love them.

  • lol!!! Too right mate! Screw the Killers!

  • and the New Album songs??

  • Aye, you're right about BBC3 - the Manics were on and they were playing the fucking Killers.

  • BB3 coverage was shite. Only showed the last minute of Motown Junk, and missed out You Love Us, From Despair To Where and MOTORCYCLE FUCKING EMPTINESS!

  • How good a song is Motown Junk! Amazing.
