  • @purestwrath Sounds like it is shifting pretty hard to me. So if he puts in a harder shift kit then he will shave off 2/10's in the quarter??  I don't think so. He wouldn't shave off two tenths with 75 more pounds of torque. Two tenths is a heck of alot in the standing quarter when you are in the 9's already.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE You'd be surprised how much time is lost on simple shit like shifting. it can rob you of alot of time, and I am well aware that two tenths is alot in the quarter. Its like a car that doesn't hook for the first 150ft of the quarter running 9's. if you can get it to hook it will shave off quite a bit of time, same with shifting.

  • bigger, well wider wheels only really help when a car has way to much torque and needs more grippin g surface to pick up speed faster. i forgot exactly where, but there was a test done with a corvette z06 and a 2009-2010 mustang gt and one of the reasons the corvette excelled is because it had wider tires and had better grip; whereas, the mustang had skinnier tires and didn't drip as well

  • well the corvette winning could have nothing to do with having 150 more horse power and weighing almost 1000 pounds less... but hey im no mechanic its just common sense that lighter = faster and lighter = more of a performance handling + more power with the less weight = no comparison to any mustang

  • I agree to make 800+ HP you should plan on a very well executed motor combination. Plan on an intercooler, Supercharger or turbo, (nitrous is expensive to keep filling it over time) Well executed motor combination and don't forget everything has to be built to handle the power. For example the motor, transmission and rearend.

  • It looks downhill, but surely it's not. Of course it would affect the times. I think NHRA should have uphill tracks. A sanctioned grade excepted by all, to slow these guys down some. We nearly lost John Force the other day. The cars are way too fast these days. A ten second car used to be awesome. Now everybody runs faster than that.

  • a supercharger the size of a house.

  • start with a blower, intake, cams, headers. get a performance trans, and a good, strong axle. lower your suspension (and stiffin it) ditch the 22s for 20s (or smaller for more gear advantage).

  • i got the 373 gears in the rear end and i ran a 14.32 with the 22"s a stock c6 corvette runs a 12.7 in the quarter could anybody tell me how to shave off 2 seconds in my quarter mile time

  • JATO rocket on the roof never hurts... lol... i would suggest in all honesty a better cam or intake. cams, intake, and carb are the three main power adders in an engine. or, go for nitrous. or smaller rims. (im serious, it will shave your time because your engine doesnt have to overcome the gear dis-advantage from the larger wheels)

  • i know smaller rims will make it faster i just want to be able to say that i can hang with an c6 on 22"s i got a k&n intake and a hypertech programer installed already and i plan on gettin an hp twin turbo kit for it in the next month or 2

  • yep... that'll do it... the turbo system will definately quicken your times, but for less money you can get new camshafts, and it might make enough of a difference to put you a nose ahead. also, there faster and easier to instal than a turbo kit...

  • if you want to go faster, launch harder, and get more tunable HP, go turbo! yes the supercharger has the low end take off, but, you cant compare launching a suercharged v8, compared to a turbo v8 any day! there is alot of learning that you will need to do, mostly about timing. trust me, that is the secret to turbos. if you learn right, you well understand how to launch with an auto under boost, and lift those tires well past the 60ft mark.

  • actually there is verry little truth to that because while 22's are nice (i have some on my silverado!!) you sacrifice traction and control thus losing that edge you would need to get a low qurater mile time. all that engine and torque don't mean shit if it is not hitting the flywheel, disk and wheels properly. 22's are nice, but i can vouch by experience that i have embarassed caprice's, impala's and other cars at the track on big rims and tires. once you go tubbed, you never get snubbed!!!

  • the big wheels do slow you down. i put 22s on my 03 cadillac dts northstar and i could feel the difference and thats a 300hp car with only 40k miles. it was a huge difference when i put the factory 17s back on it, felt like i did a engine mod and picked up 50 hp!
