  • I know how to shave just fine with my other razors. My everyday razor is the Merkur Slant , so I know what a close shave is. I think the Feather would be ok for someone that can not get a smooth nick free shave, but if you know how to use a serious instrument, you may not like shelling out serious money for this uber mild razor.

  • This razor will NOT give a close shave. You can Jhook and Blade buff till your arms fall off, and still not have a BBS shave.

  • @waynerjson just like any other blade.... it won't if you don't know how to shave. This guy seems to manage just fine.... so what's your problem?

  • You know you're an expert when you can instruct while continuing to shave - Good on ya GEO.

  • Hi Geo...my compliments 4 all ur videos!!! I have a question 4 u: can u compare this razor to a cheaper closed comb such as edwin jagger de89 or merkur hd, and tell me the differences in terms of aggressiveness? 'Cause I wanna buy this razor but i would like to know if it's milder then the other one, just because u know there's a big difference in price! Sorry 4 my english...greetings from Italy!!!

  • Yeah I can't even consider going against the grain on my neck or it will be in pieces. I have spent most of my life using an electric razor though - does my neck need to get used to it?

  • why dont you go against the grain on your chin?

  • do you change the blade in you're razor after every shave?

  • Great review!

  • my nipples they hurt... they hurt when i twist them. -mel gibson

  • @obesegypsi WTF?

  • If you would have a 5 razor blade, would you need to go tree times, or would it be enough just one shave?

  • Why is it so impossible for me to shave my chin and neck without cutting myself...?

  • Comment removed

  • You're getting some nice "crunch" with that one Geo! Pure ZEN x 10

  • It's a nice shave, but in the end, it doesn't even matter.

  • @zoomdoc

I just sent you an email.

Our shipment was delayed a few days, but it's all good now!

    It's on the way!

Enjoy your new Feather All Stainless!

    Thanks,

    Geo.

  • hey geo, when is the shave nation store going to get the feather safety razor in stock also do you guys ship to canada? thanks

  • @ssnp

Sorry, it's currently sold out, but should be back soon.

Check back often, and yes, we ship to Canada and just about every where else!

    Thanks.

    Geo.

  • @exsigint

If you've got some extra cha ching in your wallet, there are a lot worse things you can do with your money....

This is a finely engineered Safety Razor that will shave quite well and last a long, long time.

It will definitely be more nimble than your Parker 99R.

    Geo.

  • @DolceGabbanaBYMAN

    LOL!

You can't pin me down like that.........

I have many and I alternate between them all the time.

Using different razors keeps it interesting.

Among my faves are the EJ DE89, HD, Progress, Futur, and Fatboy!

    Geo.

  • ... before the shave, after the shave. How many days is the beard ? Would have been different with a shorter beard ?

  • @SANDOROSAN

This was about 5 days worth of growth I believe.

The shorter the whiskers the easier the task will be.

If you are in an every day or every other day shaving routine, the feather All Stainless Razor will work perfectly for you!

    Geo.

  • I don't use safety razors but this is a very good demo. This will help a lot of people who are having problems with what kind of blades to use on a safety razor.A very good video.

  • @MrHoratiocaine3

    Thanks,

Visit ShaveNation. com if you ever change your mind! :)

    G.

  • @MrHoratiocaine3

    Thanks Horatio!

    Geo.

  • Geo.....Thanks for the very informative video for the "Feather stainless Razor".

I'm seriously thinking of buying this and would like to know, does this razor warrant the high cost?

You have demonstrated and used loads and loads of razors and I wondered what your honest opinion is?

Is it really worth the money?

I value your opinion, Thank you.

  • @Solarpuva

If you have an extra $180 and you're looking for something fun to do with it, by all means go for the Feather All Stainless.

If you are on a limited budget, choose something less expensive like a DE89 or HD...

The barrel feels great in the hand and the razor shaves very well.

If you've got a few others and are looking to add a premium Safety Razor to your collection, by all means, pick one up.

You won't be disappointed with it.

    G.

  • geo what do you think of aqua velva aftershave i know it smells good but what do you think about what it does for your skin

  • @kantelier

I probably haven't used Aqua Velva in about 15 or 20 years.

It has been around for a long time, so it's probably not a bad product.

    Geo.

  • @kantelier it's very good, one of the better as's.

  • well i started to shave with the safety razor and i have still irritation and some bloody spots...i'm know thinking of trying the sensor excel 3. i've heard that it should work also with sensitive skin...have u ever tried that one?

  • @erniedogy

Sorry, I've never tried the sensor.

    G.

  • @erniedogy don't just give up. get a milder DE, perhaps a Merkur 34c, an EJ / Muehle R98.

buy a sample pack of DE blades, begin with the milder brands/types.

restrict your passes for now to 2 passes max.

use "Kyle's prep (google), or at least prepare you skin very good. preperation is most important.

if you notice improvement get the Proraso line (classic) for sensitive skin.

    gl!

  • @johnnyblack1974

    Proof Positive!

    Thanks for that comment!

When it comes to DE blades its always a case of YMMV or a new one I just thought of: DEBSED....

Double Edge Blades Shave Everybody Differently!

    G.

  • Once again Great Video Geo!

  • @90RangerXLT

    Thanks D!

    Geo.

  • Have you ever shaved with wilkisnon classic blades? whats your opinion about them? cheers

  • @erniedogy

Yes, I've tried the Wilkinson Blades... They are OK for me, but not among my favorites.

Remember YMMV when it comes to DE razor blades. What works well for one person, may not fit the bill for the next.

  • wow realy nice person to send you a 200$ piece of equipment thats how you know you got something good going

  • @kantelier

From a great guy who wasn't using it and wanted to see it go to a good home.

I was very thankful to receive such a fantastic gift, and it was totally unexpected.

I sent him some nice shaving equipment as a way of saying thanks!.

    Geo.

  • hey geo have you ever tried van der hagen shave soap for some reason it works better when i mix it with praraso usualy when i use praraso or the soap by itself i get lttle nicks on my neck and chin when i mix them together i get no nicks at all

  • @kantelier

Yes I have used the VDH soap.

It's a good soap at a very affordable price.

    I sell it at ShaveNationdotcom...

    Geo.

  • Hi Geo, I am about to buy a safety razor from shave nation. I have sensitive skin so would you recommend the feather all stainless razor or Edwin Jagger DE89. I have been using the Merkur 38c for last two years. It works great but can’t use it everyday because of irritation.

  • @phobeef

They are both great razors, but I would say the Feather AS is a bit milder which should be just what the Dr ordered for your sensitive skin.

Use a shaving cream designed for sensitive skin (usually with aloe, like the Edwin Jagger 99% natural as well)

I'll send you a couple of links.

    Cheers!

  • which was your favourite razor to shave with, thus far?

  • @111Socrates777

The coolest straight razor that I have shaved with thus far is the intimidating looking Thiers-Issard Spartacus, check out my video.

As far as Safety Razors, my 1959 Fatboy is still the King, but I really enjoyed my first shave with the Edwin Jagger DE89 as I didn't expect it to shave so well, it really surprised me. Check that video as well...

It's a great buy for the price.

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • @geofatboy Thanks for replying, I bought the feather all stainless, today I had my first shave with it. I think it is the best shave I have ever had. I have tried antique razors and a Merkur 34c, but the feather in my opinion is the best.

  • @111Socrates777

It's a great looking, feeling, and shaving razor!

And, very easy on the maintenance as well.

    Superbly engineered.

They should make an adjustable model....

    Geo.

  • @geofatboy awesome when do you think you'll be able to put the video up on YouTube?

  • @98765432100041

Probably between 2 or 3 weeks, unless I get tired of the growth. LOL!

Then I'll mow it down sooner.

    Geo.

  • Comment removed

  • @geofatboy I want you to shave everywhere except your mustache and grow the mustache for 4 or 5 weeks then shave it but put up a video of when your growing it and a video for when your shaving it. Thank you.

  • @98765432100041

    Growth currently in progress! LOL!

    G.

  • @geofatboy I am giving you a challenge to grow a mustache like a 2 or 3 week growth.

  • @98765432100041

    Lol!

You just want me to grow it, or you want me to shave it too?

    G.

  • Superb Demo.

  • @BarnesSean

    Thanks Sir!

    G.

  • geofat boy I have to say respect to you on doing a Youtube shave with a weeks growth. you do a very good shave review but for the nerds like myself could you tell us what soap/cream you use and use an alum block and tell us was it a sting or a tingle after the shave. We are all after the very close comfortable shave.

Keep up the Good work Sid:) .

  • @sid35gb

    Thanks Sid,

The choices available for shaving cream are endless, but I'm partial to the Taylor of Old Bond Street and Trumper's shaving creams.

    Respect!

After this shave, I believe it was just a slight tingle after the application of the Alum Block meaning, it was a smooth. close shave resulting in no irritation.

The Feather All Stainless is a Great Razor!

  • Hi Geofatboy, if you were new to safety razors but didn't mind parting with the cash would you get the Feather Stainless or would opt for something else? Thanks for the videos by the way!

  • @maydanlex

I've always said that if you have a couple of extra Benjamin's, it's not a bad way to go!

The All Stainless is a Beautiful Safety Razor, feels great in the hand (the barrel has a nice knurling to it), and also a very nice shaver!

And, you won't have to worry about rust or water spots with minimal care of it.

    Enjoy.

    Geo

    Check out ShaveNation.co m when you're ready!

  • I use a Feather AS D1, beautiful smooth shave, and the finish and quality of the razor are without doubt second to none.

  • @merthyrmafia

    I agree, it's a great razor.

    Quite the engineering feat!

    Should last forever as well...

    Geo.

  • Now you have to do the Pils.....tee hee hee :-)

  • @jsj297

I'll be more than happy to do a video on the Pils!

As soon as I get my hands on one! :) LOL!

    G.

  • @geofatboy where you using Thomas from Denmark's uberlather or did you just feel like saying that doesn't matter just wondering

  • @obesegypsi

Nah! in German uber means "over" or "above" or similar.

I was just using it as an expression of a nice, thick, luscious, overflowing type lather!

It's just an expression, and I'm sure my buddy Thomas wouldn't mind me using it !

    Take care,

    Geo.

  • I currently shave with a Edwin-Jagger DE89L and I was thinking about getting one of these Feathers. I watched your video on EJ 89 and you don't seem as impressed with the Feather Stainless as you did with the 89.

  • @Gary7even

Don't get me wrong, this Feather All Stainless is a Fantastic Razor. It's an engineering marvel, as it's designed and built very nicely.

Very comfortable to shave with and forgiving as well. Not super aggressive.

I highly recommend it if you can afford to add it to your collection, you'll be more than happy with it!

I guess the reason I was overly excited about the EJ was that it was my Maiden Voyage with it and I didn't expect much from it...

    I was pleasantly surprised!

    Geo.

  • Brilliant video

  • @powermugu

    Thank You!

    G.

  • Any chance of you doing a demo shave video with a slant bar?

  • @cessnabird

    Absolutely!

I've been working on one (Slant Bar Video) and should have it completed in the not-so distant future!

    Thanks for the request.

    Geo.

  • @cessnabird

    Done!

Check out my channel where it will play automatically!

    Thanks,

    Geo.

  • @geofatboy Hey i watched your edwin jagger video.

Im currently using the merkur hd.. and im using feather blades

do you think it's worth upgrading to the edward jaggeR?

  • @hamzie11

    Worth it?

That depends upon if you don't minding spending about $30US for a razor that will provide you with great shaves, along with some real nice eye candy!

It's a bit longer than the HD and has great balance to it.

All I can say is I've sold many and haven't heard one complaint yet!

    Everyone loves this gleaming beauty...

I've heard many people say that its "worth" three times the cost!

If you want one, check my site, ShaveNation. c o m.

    Best regards!

    Geo.

  • I'm well impressed with your technique, using a Feather razor with a fresh Feather blade will punish any imperfection in technique. I'm a good bit away from that stage. I can see you were even applying some pressure with ease and no nicks, how the heck do you do that?? Practice I guess.

  • @transPlanko Hah! Thanks for that! "With great shaving comes great responsibility"! Pardon the stupid Spiderman reference... You are correct Dr Watson! Practice, my boy, after you complete many shaves, it becomes second nature and you can just about do it with your eyes closed... I know because I've tried it! Muscle memory is an amazing characteristic... I can now shave, talk, and chew gum at the same time!!!! LOL! And still wind up with a BSS! Take care, Geo.
  • Hi Geo,

Great video! Contemplating on purchasing one of these bad boys. How would you compare it to the Edwin Jagger DE89? Do you think the feather is worth the premium price? Once again, great job!

    ~Zimm

  • @2728zimmern

    Hi Zimm,

I definitely don't want to discourage you from purchasing a razor if you have your mind set on it!

The heart wants what the heart wants right? Especially if money is no object!

So, in other words if you have a couple of extra Benjamins burning a hole in your pocket, sure, it's worth it!

But, if you are on any kind of a budget, the EJ89 is a fantastic shaving razor, very appealing to the eye, and quite reasonably priced as well at 1/6th the cost.

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • Maybe in a year I'll try one. Looks pretty damn cool! Nice vid!!

  • @GuMpAkC

I understand completely, it's definitely something to put on your Christmas/Holiday list for next year...

$200 buys a decent amount of shaving equipment!

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • Hi Geo

LOL! regarding the 'Kung Ku' references; that was one of my favourite TV programmes as an ankle biter!

I'm sure there are dozens of quotes from the series would be applicable to your almost Zen-like ruminations regarding the path to DE righteousness!

How about: "Remember always, that a wise man walks with his head bowed", or, "When you cease to strive to understand, then you will know without understanding".

David Carradine would be proud, Grasshopper!

  • @itsamathematicsthing Oh Man David... I think we are cut from the same cloth! You must be my brother from another mother! They don't make "quality" TV shows like that any more. I'm so sick of all the (staged) reality crap that's televised now... We should all take a lesson from Quai Chang, He respected others, (especially women) kept to himself, fought only when provoked, and didn't wear his pants half way down his butt! Youngsters today should be watching that show and taking notes! Geo
  • I like the before and after at the end.. definantly keep that part if you can

  • @whitedwarf29

    Thanks!

Just something I added to show what a huge difference a quality shave can make in one's appearance...

I will keep doing it in future vids!

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • Man, Geo!! How can you maintain the right angle shaving that fast and using such long strokes? I screw up big time if I don't stick to one inch strokes. You make the passes look so clean.

  • @shavefan12

    Thanks for the compliments!

    Practice grasshopper, practice!!!!

"When you can snatch the pebble from my hand, it is time for you to leave"....

Haha!!! You're way to young to get that reference, I think!!!

One of my favorite TV programs while growing up....

    Geo.

  • Thanks Thomas!

If you wind up with one of these Stainless Bad Boys, let me know how it works out for you!

Ahhh, sorry about the music, sometimes I like a little background noise so it's not too quiet...

I usually put it on P@ndora and leave the song selection to them.

    Take Care,

    Geo.

  • Great video, thx alot! I cant wait to get my hands on this beauty.

But I must admit, I find the background music a bit annoying.

  • @mokujingris1

    Hey Thomas,

Sorry about the music, but anyway, how's the Feather AS razor mate?

Have you tried it out yet?

    G.

  • @exsigint

I agree wholeheartedly! When I shave (without the camera) I take extra time and enjoy all of the aspects of the shave... The warm lather, the swirling of the badger brush, an intoxicating sandalwood scent, the feel and sound of the razor gently shearing through the whiskers, next, a warm, then cold rinse, gliding the alum block, and application of post shave balm. Last but not least, the Baby Smooth Face!

Yeah, almost as good as a Japanese tea party , no shoes required for either!

    Geo

  • @exsigint

    Thanks a lot!

If money were no object, go ahead and lay down a couple of Benjamins to try it out. But the money factor is definitely going to intimidate a lot of people from buying it.

You and your heavy duty beard might want to look into a Slant Bar as your next razor purchase.

It's almost identical to and HD, yet the cutting head is slanted, or skewed, providing a more aggressive shave!

I have a video with one coming soon..

I agree, Wet Shaving is Superior!!!

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • Nice Video

  • @jtftennis

    Thanks,

    enjoy!

    G.

  • @geofatboy

It's my b-day so wana look good but I had a shave today it was awsme.

  • @msasaif

    Oh Man!!!

    Big day comin' up!

You had a great shave today, what were the tools that you used to perform it?

So I know what you're currently using.

    Thanks,

    Geo.

  • quick question - How many shaves do you use 1 blade for? approximatley?

  • @rukus187777

    Hi Rukus.

It depends on the coarseness or thickness of your beard and how you go about your face prep...

I can generally get about 5 shaves out of a Feather DE blade before I swap it out.

    Geo.

  • @geofatboy

Please can u make me a vid befor 17 Jan on the multi razors and shaving creams/soaps I would really apreasheate it bro

  • @msasaif

I can't promise, but I'll do my best...

    What happens after the 17th?

Just wondering why you need it before than...

    Geo.

  • Geo i finally got my DE razor i had a weeks growth its a parker 22r butterfly open it came with 10 shark super chrome blades i also got praraso in the tube for shaving with a DE for the first time @ 17 wasnt that bad as ppl said it was i just did what felt but the problem is the praraso it worked very well but i couldnt get a thick lather coud it be i didnt use enuf cuzim trying 2 conserve it i dont want to go back to the canned stuff any suggestion with the lather praraso?

  • @kantelier

I think you said you found your answer (how to whip up a great lather) in the Best Lather, or Face Prep for a Safety or Straight razor shave video...

I'm glad it worked out for you!

    It only gets better!

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • Couple questions.

It seems like the EJ de89 was a little smoother and cut better than the feather. Would you agree?

Second, what do you find works better for you (easiest to achieve good cutting angle, best weight/balance, etc...) a TTO model like the fatboy and superspeed, or something like the Parker 90R, or a 3 piece like you de89?

  • @salazch12

You called it Sal, the Feather is a $200 Razor which looks and feel great, and provides a nice shave, and will probably never see a water spot or rust.

But, I must say that, I still prefer the smoothness of shave, cutting ability, weight, balance, and gleaming chrome of the Edwin Jagger razor!

Once you factor the price (around $30) into the equation, it becomes more appealing.

In my opinion, and many other wet shavers, it's one of the best razors in production today.

    Take Care,

    Geo

  • What type of DE do you find works best, as far as ease of cutting/getting the best angle, etc... a TTO or the 2 or 3 piece?

  • @salazch12

    Hi Sal,

I've always been partial to the TTO/Butterflly/Silo doors style of razor because of the easy loading and unloading of the blade, possibly because I learned on a 1959 Fatboy.

Recently I've taken a liking to the 3 piece style of razor. Yes, it takes a bit longer to load and unload the blade, but the shave quality has been fantastic!

These razors feature a threaded post that the barrel screws into and 2 other posts which hold the blade securely with almost no play...

    Best,

    Geo.

  • @geofatboy

    Thanks. Mate

  • @geofatboy.

Ok can u do 1 for shaving creams then the best ones top 10

  • @msasaif

    No problem my friend!

I will get something in the works for you!

    Stay Tuned...

    Take Care,

    Geo.

  • Wow! thanx for the quick reply. I really enjoy you videos.

  • @AASTRANGE

    No problem.

Any other questions along the way, don't hesitate to ask!

    Good Luck,

    Geo.

  • Hi geofatboy I heard you mention "slant bar" razor a couple of times, I have seen pics of one but what's the deal with this type razor.

  • @AASTRANGE

A Slant Bar is a type of razor which has an angled blade holder compartment. It actually tightens the DE razor blade on an angle rather than straight across.

The blade actually seats in a "skewed" fashion. This type of engineering results in a more aggressive shave than most any other razor currently on the market.

I would NOT recommend this type of razor for a newbie or beginner.

They are generally geared towards Gents with Heavier Beards!

I have a video coming soon using one.

    Geo.

  • im 29, i must have a sensitive face and if i let it grow a few days, i get red bumps really really bad, it happens every single time. if i have every other day it wont do it, i shave with a mach3 and i want to get into straight razors or DE razors i just dont know what one and such, or if shaving like you do would help me any. but im getting sick of it hurting when i shave..

  • @hotkeepr7

Sounds like you need to give Safety Razor Shaving a try...

Many people comment that only after a week of switching form a multi-blade razor to a safety razor, their ingrown hairs and razor bumps have virtually disappeared.

Get your hands on a quality razor by Merkur, Edwin Jagger, Muhle, or similar. Use a premium shaving cream like Trumpers, Proraso, or Taylor of Old Bond St. A nice badger brush and some good DE blades and try it for 30 days.

    Visit shavenation. c o m

    Good Luck,

    Geo

  • @geofatboy

i just placed an order with shavenation. obvously thats your site... got the HD comin, a few taylor of old bonds and a brush.. hopefully this shows up quickly. my face will be happy.. now curious. where do i get a box of feather blades?

  • @hotkeepr7

Thank you for the order. No problem, I'll throw in a box of Feather blades for you!

    Your choices were wise!!!

You will definitely be happy with the HD and the Taylor's. It's good stuff! Lathers up easily, and the scents are fantastic.

    Happy New Year!

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • @geofatboy

wow thank you geo.. i cannot wait to get this order :)

  • @hotkeepr7

    Its on the way, Enjoy!

    Geo.

  • @geofatboy

couldent get here fast enough i can tell ya that. im so sick of swollen jaw skin from ingrown hairs..

  • @hotkeepr7

Will most likely be in your hands in 1 or 2 days.

Let me know how it works out!

Should demolish those nasty ingrown hairs and vastly improve your shaves!

    G.

  • @geofatboy

well geo, once i got the bleeding to stop. i dont think i cut myself it was lil dots of blood. mostly from the older ingrown hairs, i will say, 1.... i dont like the lavender. it smells good in the cup. but doesnt smell good once you lather it up.. and 2. my face burns like a bastard... once i got the blood to stop i will say it was the smoothest damn shave ive ever had. its the first time in my life i went against the grain i hope that doesnt ingrow every hair i have...

  • @hotkeepr7

You're off to a good start!

Remember that it will take about a month before your face becomes fully adjusted to this new method of shaving.

Don't rush it, it will only get better!

    Best,

    Geo.

  • Geo - Another GREAT job ! I'm sitting here waiting for the ball to drop watching some of your videos on my iPhone and noticed this new one... Man I was excited, and it was a great one. What a nice piece of art that FEATHER looks to be. Still enjoying my new FUTUR and silver tip Altesse Badger ($100) my wife gifted me.

Never get tired of watching your vids man... Thanks for all the effort to bring these to us. Most appreciated.

  • @smithshaven

    Thanks a lot Smith!

The Feather is a wonderfully engineered shaving tool, and if you ever find a couple of extra Benjamins in the pocket of your jeans (I love when that stuff happens) it might be something to consider.

I always say, there are a lot worse things you can do with your hard earned money!

    You wife did good!

I'm to the point now where I'll buy the shaving equipment and ask them to wrap it up and give it to me!

It's easier for everybody that way!

    Shave On Bro!

    Best!

    Geo.

  • Hello again can you please do a one off multi razor demo of proper ways the shave with it. I would realy apreasheate it. Thanks

  • @msasaif

    Hmmmm....

Are you asking me to shave with a multi bladed cartridge style razor?

    I'm not sure about that...

I've only been shaving with Straight and Safety Razors for a long time...

Don't know if I want to attempt shaving with a high tech/new wave razor.

I've been told some of those things have motors in them and vibrate...

3-4-5 Blades? I'm very accustomed to just ONE!

    I might hurt myself! LOL!

    Geo.

  • Hi Geo

Nice vid again. This razor seems really nice, a bit expensive though...

I really should try these Feather blades.

  • @wizzie47

    Wizzie,

Wrap your Safety Razor around a nice Feather Blade, It will thank you!

    Shave On!

    Geo.

  • Thanks for the advice Geo.

Everyone one thinks I'm a colossal pervert part 2: During the holiday season we have been meeting various members of our extended family and my wife has been taking great delight in letting them know that, as she puts it, "He's become obsessed with watching men shave on the internet!" It's amazing the connotations that this produces. LOL! Let just say that the last thing they think you are shaving is your face!

Enjoy 2011 and here's to more excellent videos!

  • @itsamathematicsthing

    Ouch! That Hurts!!!

Sounds like your wife is getting a rise out of watching you squirm.....lol! And watching you try to explain yourself out of those situations!

The first that comes to my mind is........ Payback!

I'm sure you could find something good to retaliate with.... Just Kidding!

Regarding Marriage and family, my goal is Peace and Harmony!

Oh BTW, I can equivocally say that you will NOT see me shaving anything but my face!

    So, no worries Mate!!!

    Best to all!

    Geo.

  • Sir Geo. Merry xmas (belated). How are you buddy? Great vid again and i'm super jealous of your new toy lol. After the EJ DE89 vid, i've decided to get one too... Awesome shave and a fantastic chrome plate on it, flawless. Now an avid collector and the next step is a Shavette. Just a request on future vids, will or can you cover the After shaves and Colonges to complete the wet shave art? PS check out the Turkish barber who shaves with his feet!? on my channel. Happy New Year mate!

  • @TheAdmiral1976 Hey Admiral, Whats Happenin' Bro? Best of the Holidays to you! The Feather is a great (though pricey) razor and I was fortunate and very thankful to receive it. I presume you will be more than happy with a shiny new E.J. I'm going to check out your Turkish Barber, even though it sounds a bit freakish...lol. That kind of stuff always amazes me/Guiness Book type behavior it sounds like. I'll get something together regarding Post-Shave routines. All the best! Geo.
  • i dont shave with razors anymore i use electric shaver but i still love watching your videos..keep them coming mate

  • @MOVIE5T4R What!!!! You've abandoned the Safety Razor for an Electric Razor??? Tragic!!! Just Kidding! You gotta do what's best for you and your face... If you achieve the best shave with an electric razor, Great! You can shave in the car on the way to work...ha! Definitely NOT recommended with a Safety or Straight razor... Back in the day, I used a straight razor for a bit, resulted in a lot of ingrown hairs on my neck and I found it useless if my face was not completely dry... Best, Geo.

  • Hi Geo

Happy holidays (as I believe you say on that side of the Atlantic)!

Another great video Sir and that is one beautiful razor (I can feel my RAD calling me!)

I noticed you were using the same EJ Shaving Bowl that I bought and then discarded as I found it too small in diameter and too deep for me to gain a good lather. Any tips on how you generated that "über-lather" (LOL!) in this bowl?

Keep up the fantastic work my friend.

  • @itsamathematicsthing

Hey David! Hope all is well!

Hah! Your comment reminds me of that scenario where you might have the Devil on your left shoulder trying to lead you down an evil path, and an angel on your right shoulder trying to keep you on the path of righteousness...

Only in this situation, it's the RAD on one shoulder and the $200 in your wallet on the other...

Soak your bowl in hot water for a couple minutes (and your brush as well) remove a bit of water from the brush/Lather up!

    Geo

  • I think you were more exited with the EJ89. What of them you prefer?

  • @vigarosincredulos

I think that I was very excited about the Edwin Jagger Razor because I didn't expect it to shave as well as it did...

I thought that for about $30 It would provide a decent shave and that's all I was hoping for.

I was very impressed with the feel of it, as far as the weight, the design, the shave provided, and the gleaming chrome! And I do love shiny chrome toys!

When factoring price into the equation, its very difficult not to go with the Edwin Jagger Razor!

    Best,

    Geo.

  • nice job geo! just wanted to let you know there's a thread about your vids over at badger and blade...some really good comments about your work...keep it up bro!

  • @rvord

    Really? Wow! That's Awesome!

I'm honored.... That's a great site which features a wealth of information for Safety and Straight Razor shavers alike...

A great place to find the answer to just about any question you might have about anything shaving related.

    I highly recommend it!

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I'm eager to check it out!

Thanks for the kind words by the way.

    Take care,

    Geo.

  • Yeah, I agree that the Feather AS is a great razor. People that knock it for being a Tech clone probably haven't tried it. I love mine and the butter-smooth shave it gives. It shares equal time with my Fatboy and Super Adjustable.

What brush do you use in this video?

  • @caomhan84

Absolutely, I second the fact that it's a great razor..

One can only guess that the reason more people haven't tried it is the cost.

    It is a bit prohibitive.

But, if you have a little extra cash lying around....

It's engineered so well, and of a superior material that will probably last forever.

Probably should be considered a keepsake, because you'll definitely be able to pass it on to a son, daughter, or any shaver who is deserving of it!

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • @caomhan84

Sorry caomhan, I forgot to mention the brush...

It's a Rooney Super Silvertip Badger Brush.

One of my faves and has served me quite well!

Take care of your brush and it will take care of you!

    Best,

    Geo.

  • what a generous gesture. terrific.

I was happy to see it, as you seem like just such a nice guy.

    enjoy the videos. best.

  • @nierderlan

I agree, I was totally, yet pleasantly surprised to receive it.

They said that since I had helped a lot of people improve upon their shaves, they wanted me to have it...

I'm very thankful for the gift!

Regarding the nice guy part, I always try to be nice; until it's no longer time to be nice!

    Thanks for watching!

    Take Care,

    Geo.

  • Is this your first video with music playing in the background? I detected some Linkin Park and Evanescence. haha

  • @crobro

    Hi crobro!

Actually, I have some other vids with some tunes in the background...

I think it's nice to hear some music in the background for those times when I'm concentrating on shaving and not speaking.

Plus (don't know if I can say this) I have the P*ndora app on the Iphone and it's like magic...

I tell it a few songs that I like, and it just keeps coming up with more songs in the same genre.

    Genius, if you ask me!

Oh, any suggestions regarding music to shave by?

    Take Care,

    Geo.

  • @geofatboy

Yep, I guess they slipped my memory. You said in some of your vid's that you're shaving with no music so that we could all hear the blade shearing off the whiskers (& what a sweet sound it is). I have the same "app which shall not be named" for my Droid (which I think is OK to say on this site as both YouTube & the Android OS are both Google-owned). I also dig it very much.

As for music suggestions, I guess you can't go wrong with anything from "The Razor's Edge" by AC/DC. haha

  • @crobro

Man, it's good to be King!

So Google owns Youtube and the Android operating system... and a ton of other things!

I think that App was designed by a Stanford student, by the way.

Love the "Razor Edge" suggestion, I never thought of that one.

    Happy New Year! Shave On!!!

    Geo.

  • I bet the chicks dig watching you shave!

  • @78recordrepair

    Hah!

You put a big smile on my face with that one!!!

I don't know how many ladies are into watching men shave with a Safety or Straight Razor...

All I can say is, A lot, I hope...

Maybe they can apply some of the techniques when they shave their legs!

Ummm, which is something you definitely will NOT see me doing any time soon! lol...

    Thanks for watching.

    Take Care,

    Geo.

  • but in all seriousness great review, i was looking for something on the de feather alas i find it here. great work as always mr. geo

  • @ssnp

I love when a plan comes together like that!

In case you weren't aware, Feather also makes a "Popular" model safety razor which is black in color.

It costs about 1/10th the price of this All Stainless model, but there is no comparison when you bring quality, craftsmanship, and engineering into the equation...

    This is a fantastic razor.

Thanks for the kind words, by the way.

    Best regards,

    Geo.

  • first!

  • @ssnp

    Nice!

You should win some kind of a prize for that!

Thanks for watching, have a great day!

    Geo.
