@LaLora95 Though it can be irritating, I don't believe it bothers Josh one iota. He is too used to having a few people in a club who are listening. Watch him carefully. It never bothers him. I believe he is smiling inside. He also orchestrates every reaction. Honest, he does, he's that brilliant. He also knows how to quiet everybody down to catch his butter-soft words. I now hold a speaker to my ear so that I can catch phrases I might otherwise miss.  Unbelievable!

@yowyOw69 I'm not sure that Simon was correct. I played Alanis's version and in the beginning, this song is sung very softly and tentatively. As far as I can tell, he was just honoring the way she planned the song. It got more intense later on, which happened in the duet. I believe the original recording was maybe not fresh in some people's memory.

@juajen2000 Well, it's true that Simon was not completely sincere with Melanie because it's "his girl". Her duet with R.Kelly was disappointing as well. But, instead of criticizing it just like with Josh, Simon called it "respect" for R.Kelly.

I just think that they didn't chose the right singers for the contestants. Josh and Alanis sing on completely different keys. And so do Melanie and R.Kelly.

All of Alanis's songs are multi-layered in feeling - - she sings some parts with strength, anger, conviction; in other parts she sings soft, tentatively, hauntingly. Josh got it right! He picked up on the nuances of Alanis's VERY ORIGINAL, UNIQUE songwriting. I loved both of them on this rendition - - Beautiful!!!

Alanis looked like she was truly enjoying singing this song with Josh. She had a sparkle in her eye every time she looked at him! She knows talent and soul when she sees it!

@gospyro I disagree in that, when Josh moved to take Alanis' hand, she backed away. She looked decidedly uncomfortable at that moment but immediately made the correction to hide it. I dunno...it's not a love song...maybe she just wanted their performance to reflect the meaning of the song. Or maybe I'm imagining things lol

This was a beautiful duet, and I never saw any missed lyrics by Josh. I'm not sure why Simon didn't give this an 11. I keep going back to it and loving it more each time. Josh is truly a charming man and Alanis and he fit beautifully together.
