@jaimeraim Saw them in 1977, Los Angeles Forum. Greatest Rock and Roll band ever! I signed up for this lottery, but wasn't chosen. I would have taken my son.
They're nothing alike in what they're trying to achieve!
But just so you people know..
Paul (vocals) has said that the only other band he would leave Kiss for is
Led Zeppelin. He worships Led Zeppelin. And Ace Frehley (lead guitar) influence most of what he does on his familiar looking Les Paul on Pages playing.
Listen to 'making love' (1976) and you should hear the influence!
Kiss is just like like Zeppelins naive & happier little brother ;)
I NEEED TO SEE THEM. I SAW ROBERT PLANT A FEW MOTHS AGO, BUT I NEED TO SEE HIM WITH GOD, JP. PLEASE, I WANT LED ZEPPELIN, PLEASE, I CAN GIVE MY SOULD TO THE DEVIL JUST FOR A REUNION. BECAUSE A LED ZEP CONCERT SHOULD BE JUST LIKE HEAVEN.
What Zeppelin did to the "stolen" songs IS NOT plagiarism. They took bananas and transformed them into Banana/strawberry smoothies. If you listened to When the Levee breaks and compare them, they sound NOTHING alike. Zeppelin magically transformed those songs and made it their own. Artists have always 'stolen' ideas from each other. research those blues guys you talk about, they too "STOLE" alot of material. And that's what music is about. Inspiration.
Plants a complete fool for turning down that huge offer to tour. "want 200m pounds to tour with the greatest hard rock band ever?" "nope im gonna piss away the remainder of my life and talent with Krauss and the shitty sounding Band of Joy."

This is Zeppelins best studio song. I would have loved to have been there when they did this song. The drumming on the studio version can't be beat. Listen closely with headphones. There's so much going on with Bonhams drumming, it brings chills when I listen to it. Pages solos are great too. Personally I don't think any live version of this song compares to the studio version. How many songs are I - IV - V?? or I - V - VIm - IV??? They're all plagiarised....... And besides, this is a traditional tune anyway...... If you listen to the widely circulated bootleg of the last night in Madison Square Garden in 1975 you'll hear Robert Plant talk about it....
The issue that pagey stole this is pure bullshit, he just borrowed it and the boys are havin a good time with it! Just like when you borrow your buddys expensive sports car and enjoy crusin around, you bring it back in the end after feelin good drivin it, and after the boys enjoy the jam, the boys bring it back home and it goes back to the grave with the master who says, glad you enjoyed it!
according to the old wiki ""In My Time of Dying" is a traditional gospel music song that has been covered by many rock musicians since the early 1960s.
The first known recording of this song was under the title "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed" recorded by blues-gospel guitarist Blind Willie Johnson"
Basically he was the first to record it but he didn't write it
Since the copyright runs out after a period of time and the fact that Johnson didn't live that long (Died at 48 in 1945) and was poor his entire life...as well as not having any children of record...the copyright, if any existed in his name, was certainly never renewed in his name.
Like a good portion of LZ's history, this is just one example of them taking a song that they didn't write, changing it to suit their musical style and then claiming it as their own composition while never stating (or compensating) the actual artist who wrote the songs. (Thank goodness Willie Dixon and others sued them and got something out of them...)
@anthony man88 Plagiarism is plagiarism. Artists cover other artists songs all the time. Most of the time, one artists version is quite different than anothers... but as long as they acknoledge and compensate the original artist, it's legal and pretty much everybody is happy.
@SkyDogJr However, when you put a song out that you know you didn't write, regardless of how it is performed, and claim it as your own, it's plagerism. As stated before, because the copyright ran out and was not renewed in Johnson's name, JP now owns the copyright, I believe...but that doesn't mean he wrote it...

Hey, I am a traditional blues musician who enjoys the blues done in a traditional way. It drives me nut whenever I hear (or read) someone say "It's the greatest song they ever wrote..." when they didn't truly write it. I'll admit my attitude is pointless in most cases as the grand total of musicians that give a damn about a musician like Blind Willie Johnson pale in comparrison to the number of musicians that care about LZ, Page, Plant and all the rest.
I give a damn about Blind Willie. Plus the actual members of Led Zeppelin admired Blind Willie as well. But anyways, one of the most prominent facts of the blues is that if a song is great, everyone and their grandma will do a cover of it. Or at least nick some part of it. But this version of in my time of dying is totally unique to Led Zeppelin. They way they composed it is unique. And composition has almost as much to do with a great song as the lyrics. So in a way, this is theyre song.
@SkyDogJr Well most of their covers they did more or less write. They're so different from the originals. Apart from a few words or a few similar notes, the songs they covered were their own work. Take Babe I'm Gonna Leave You for example. It's a cover but the guitar part & the melody plant sings is something that they wrote themselves.
@MatiashiPL Well, since you want to get juvenile about it, why don't you shut the hell up and realize you are not the only human being with an opinion. I realize it's pointless to bother telling you this because you are probably a juvenile. Remember junior, it was that Christian song LZ admired enough to try, successfully I will admit, to cover, publish and reap the benefits of doing so. So don't be so ignorant. If it was that bad, why would they have bothered? Ponder that one genius!
Technical question: Can anyone tell who keeps getting the feedback (the high-pitched amp whistle)? Is it Robert, the sound guys or Jimmy? I cant tell why it's happening.
@lucifer73 dunno.. i'm a soundtech myself, and the only thing i can see possibly causing trouble is that monitor right in front of the drumraiser... but it's just a matter of cutting that one frequency out with a band-eq (or am i getting too technical now?)
These guys are so OLD School. Look how close they jam together compared to these mammoth stages today where it's almost mechanical and the band is spread out all over. And JPJ is all over the place. You're looking at a band just plain having fun. Nice video. 5 stars. No, it's not Zeppelin. Bonham didn't just take up a place on the floor. His son is playing his old man's stuff in very much his dad's style. That's fine, but would like a little more originality with him
It's only one thing I'm worring about... LZ alive members have no leaved real modern hi - definition records for future generations... Sorry for bad english... I'm from Russia, but I have all HD records of LZ from so far past...LZ is timeless.
Damn- Jimmy is playing good for this show... maybe being back together did it for him. Plant's voice is sharp too.. perhaps they cannot replicate this on a long tour.. too taxing. A CONCERT VIDEO IS NEEDED to be released- echoing earlier poster.
I'm entitled to comment just like your comment. I absolutely like it. Whether it was/wasn't extended. I'm not a musician like you are. I can say I've been a fan for years before I can ever attend a Zep concert or any other. Good editing for all
Personally I think Plant sings now with more consitstancy than ever before, much more controlled. His collaberation with AK did not win 6 grammies for nothing now did it?
Anyone heard or hear tell of how loud they played? My brother said they were thunderously loud in the 70's...wonder if they've turned it down a notch or not lol.
Yes.... thunderously LOUD!!!, louder than normal, like Velvet Revolver(@HMH) or some concerts at Lowlands Festival ... that's for sure. I was there and my ears were blown out!... But it was GREAT!!!...Legendary!!!
The idea of using multiple angles is a good one. However, you should stick to one good sound source. For instance, audio quality is best from those side view angle shots.
Robert sings as well as he always did it. But the original sound of this video is not good. A lot of noise. Jimmy Page and Robert are my favourites of Led Zeppelin.
And where were your seats? Oh wait. You weren't there. At this concert every seat was the best seat. If you were there. Who cares where your sitting. YOUR THERE.
BTW, Plant still has a great voice when he sings within his natural register. When a 60 year old man tries to sing in the same key he did when he was 19, lol...well, it doesn't work as well anymore. Plant does great in this concert...sounds awesome.
i feel sorry 4 jimmy....its sad to watch, its almost like he has aldzimers and no1 told him yet.its even worse 4 me,ive remember when he was sharp as a whip..from 76 to now he never could the slop out of his hands .he can still write great music...i think walking into clarksdale was some of the best stuff plant and page ever did
dude trust me,,,,dont get me wrong.....jimmys my idol, the world use to revolve to the sound of his rythem...the sun use to rise and set according to plants lyrics for me,im a long long time fan..all im saying is that if you know jimmy through the years then ud no the he is kinda sloppy now on stage, its just that no 1 cares cause its jimmy
I would probably kill a man if it meant I could go back in time to see Zeppelin live. Holy crap, I was born in the wrong friggin' decade.

Somehow Plant's voice is better with Page's guitar. I also like his work alone, but just can't compare it with Led Zeppelin.
ssacdc 3 years ago
Personally I think Plant sings now with more consitstancy than ever before, much more controlled. His collaberation with AK did not win 6 grammies for nothing now did it?
CWSiler 2 years ago 3
totally agree on the guitar...Page is definitely
in the pantheon of guitar gods...

Anyone heard or hear tell of how loud they played? My brother said they were thunderously loud in the 70's...wonder if they've turned it down a notch or not lol.
lucifer73 3 years ago
Yes.... thunderously LOUD!!!, louder than normal, like Velvet Revolver(@HMH) or some concerts at Lowlands Festival ... that's for sure. I was there and my ears were blown out!... But it was GREAT!!!...Legendary!!!

The idea of using multiple angles is a good one. However, you should stick to one good sound source. For instance, audio quality is best from those side view angle shots.

Yes! JPJ is playing a fretless to match Jimmy's slide. <3

Robert sings as well as he always did it. But the original sound of this video is not good. A lot of noise. Jimmy Page and Robert are my favourites of Led Zeppelin.

@Grooviliciousness - couldnt agree more with you
jimmypage321 1 year ago
And where were your seats? Oh wait. You weren't there. At this concert every seat was the best seat. If you were there. Who cares where your sitting. YOUR THERE.
theworkingmann 3 years ago 2
too true...
roland6663 3 years ago
I dont think there is such a thing as a "worst seat" when Led Zeppelin is the band performing.
shelbysaleen17 3 years ago 2
yeah keep in mind this is in a cellphone or something. it would sound much better with the good cameras
tretall 3 years ago 2
Cool story. Nice of you to stick around to catch their reunion :)
led79zep 3 years ago
BTW, Plant still has a great voice when he sings within his natural register. When a 60 year old man tries to sing in the same key he did when he was 19, lol...well, it doesn't work as well anymore. Plant does great in this concert...sounds awesome.
lucifer73 3 years ago
Don't like your nick...but what you've said is true. LED ZEPP FOREVER!

Whoa, that's creepy. I'd count my blessings mate! lol

i feel sorry 4 jimmy....its sad to watch, its almost like he has aldzimers and no1 told him yet.its even worse 4 me,ive remember when he was sharp as a whip..from 76 to now he never could the slop out of his hands .he can still write great music...i think walking into clarksdale was some of the best stuff plant and page ever did

Man is in better shape than in 30 years! ok, speed is slower but IT is still there!
kilpa99 3 years ago 2
dude trust me,,,,dont get me wrong.....jimmys my idol, the world use to revolve to the sound of his rythem...the sun use to rise and set according to plants lyrics for me,im a long long time fan..all im saying is that if you know jimmy through the years then ud no the he is kinda sloppy now on stage, its just that no 1 cares cause its jimmy
fishdog66 3 years ago
Jimmy by his own admission plays sloppy live. Its part of what makes them sound so good live, I think. Tight but loose, you know? Kick ass tune!

Seriously, there weren't any bad seats in the house that night. Never any bad seats when you're in the Houses of the Holy.

Bye girls.
Enjoy your idol worshipping of has-beens.
You have been most helpful for a study of Group Dynamics and Repressive State Anger Syndrome.

The message remains the same pier23ca.
Grammatical mistakes are not all that important as long as a point is made.
Your behaviour pier23ca is that of a cowardly cretin.
Deep down inside, pier23ca , you are fully aware of your cowardice aren't you?(especially once you've left the message boards)
Before you correct my spelling of "behavior" may I tell you that in European English it is "spelt" (or "spelled" in American English) "behaviour"
