I click on this video thumbnail because I thought I saw Jackie Chan playing music. I swear Jackie's good at everything. He can sing you a song while kicking your ass while drunk. I mean it. Wait. At the same time entertain you. Jackie Chan is probably one of the most if not influential Asian person. But good music. Sex for my ears.
Who the heck are the top comments directed out? Oh nevermind, I don't even care. I'm just going to say; the woman does look a bit nervous, but not "scared"--just the nerves of any performer and possibly just the result of her own facial features combined with concentration. Also the man's haircut makes me think of Snape and it amuses me.
But more importantly, this is absolutely amazing. I adore the erhu, and this is definitely a beautiful example of it and its accompanying instrument.
in chinese we have a phrase called "mining human resources" which is exactly what china is doing right now. They want to attract as much academic/creative talent to their country as possible. no way they would kill a master musician over a mistake.
What they are doing nowadays are things like free housing in a gated community, ridiculously high salary, free top notch medical care, etc. Thats pretty much their plan for overtaking the US as a political and cultural influence
I love this music, and i respect the talent, i just think it would be funny if someone made a spoof of this - when he makes a mistake the Chinese government soldiers come in and shoot him in the face. (you will only understand this comment if you read the last few pages of comments)
issit just me or does anyone else think that erhu is only for sad cry your heart out songs? has anyone play some cheerful music using an erhu? btw i love sad songs just curious thats all
@devilhunterred lolz youtube is blocked in mainland china XD screw censorship I'm glad I'm in taiwan.. but really... i don't think the commies have been killing off musicians just because of a tiny slip on stage.. unless they're performing to some really important person like other presidents or something >.>
@TYLTsuna You are right, in the past during the brain meltdown of culture revolution perhaps musicians got a bullet in their head from just playing a traditional instrument. But today no, that's reserved for people speaking their mind =). I am also glad I am in Taiwan!.
Sometimes when I listen to this kind of music I imagine myself sipping tea and playing weiqi (go as its more commonly known) with some old guy in a garden/park while musicians around us are playing their instruments. Ah, that would be so relaxing. :) If I ever visit east asia, putting that on my list of things to do is a must.
You ear is very good. This is Moon Shined on Erquan Pond. It is the traditional version of the song as it was first originally played. It is a piece of music that is heavily studied as apart of the Chinese Philharmonic Curriculum.
@iceman91010 How has it been going? Did you have other musical experience before? I too have fallen in love with Erhu but not sure if it will be too hard to learn without a teacher. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this master musician music with us on your tube this performance is amazing great music full of soul and depth. Bless who ever shared this music with the public.
@shaung1023 Hey do you know of a song where the performer makes his(I think) instrument sound like a horse? I'm pretty sure it's actually an Igil tune but I'm not positive, could be Erhu.
@shaung1023 same composer as er quan ying yue? o.o, i dont know if this song was made by him but "moon on the erquan pond" was a song composed by Abing
Scared? Obviously you haven't seen a lot of people with the look of concentration lmao She looks nothing like as if she is scared at all. Maybe on your retro monitor she might, and I guess the Master looks like Jackie Chan too? lol
Obviously you don't read other peoples comments, as I was commenting on what MattTheSinger1 had commented about. And I did say, and I quote myself, "She looks nothing like as if she is scared at all." So therefore I don't see her being scared.
@Krowzak or the person that said that she seemed scared is at a cultural disadvantage. Never having been associated with people outside their own geographic location... in effect inadvertent racism ("they all look the same to me" is a common phrase with these people)
They might have done that during the time of Mao Tse Tung (I don't know for sure but it's possible seeing as how Mao was a maniac), but it's highly doubtful it would happen today. Traditional chinese arts and music are making a comeback after the repression earlier in the 1900's.
@devilhunterred haha. it's true. my friend played professional dizi in China and his friend (erhu) was killed after playing a slightly mistuned erhu at a state function. shortly after my friend told me about it he disappeared...I can only assume that the Chinese government killed him too :(
@CriterionCoIIection I also have a friend who played professional violin in France and his friend disappeared after having a bad performance in Paris in New Year's Eve. Does that mean French government kills musicians?
@devilhunterred ok...if the French government was known for it's draconian punishments and frequent executions. and if the french government had killed 50 million+ of it's own people in the last decades. and if they were under suspicion of killing other musicians who had messed up. and if your friend was playing violin for the french president when he messed up. and then he disappeared after the bad performance. then yes, the french government most likely kills musicians.
@CriterionCoIIection Please show me credible historical sources that prove that CCP has killed over 50 million of its own people in the last decade. You obviously have absolutely no understanding of the Great Leap Forward, Hundred Flowers and the Cultural Revolution, because none of them occurred in the last decade, and the death toll was nowhere near 50 million. And please show me sources that say that CCP kill its own musicians.
Come back and talk to me when you found them. Until then, STFU.
@devilhunterred I said decades, not decade...and I recommend the book "Hungry Ghosts" by Jasper Becker. The death toll exceeds 50 million. Also, I can't show you a direct source that the CCP kills its own musicians as they're all DEAD!
@CriterionCoIIection Jasper Becker is a journalist, not a historian, therefore the book he wrote is NOT a scholarly academic work, and therefore cannot be accepted as a credible information source. I have studied Chinese history for years, and I will say it again: The Chinese death toll under CCP does not exceed 50 million. The largest disaster in modern China was the Great Famine, which 30 million died, care to explain where did the other 20 million come from?
@CriterionCoIIection That's utterly idiotic. Then how exactly would you know they were murdered? SOMONE must of seen something, heard something, or leaked something if they were systematically murdered. Those musicians had families, friends, fans. According to your retarded logic, all disappearances = murdered? How about you give me the names of all the Chinese musicians who had disappeared? And show me which newspaper you got those names from?
@CriterionCoIIection Jasper Becker is a journalist, not a historian, therefore the book he wrote is NOT a scholarly academic work, and therefore cannot be accepted as a credible information source. This Instrument are not related any sex for use.
Is how to play this instrument correctly.
