  • I'm suddenly hungry for Chinese food

  • Remember some people said Erhu is for women to play this instrument.

This Instrument are not related any sex for use.

Is how to play this instrument correctly.

(Bah my english again messed up again!)

  • I click on this video thumbnail because I thought I saw Jackie Chan playing music. I swear Jackie's good at everything. He can sing you a song while kicking your ass while drunk. I mean it. Wait. At the same time entertain you. Jackie Chan is probably one of the most if not influential Asian person. But good music. Sex for my ears.

  • if this doesn't make you sleep i don't know what could

  • This is GOLD to my ears, I just love Chinese Music.

    Bravo!

  • who can tell me the name of the song that erhu master play in the film '' love in disguise''. thanks a lot!

  • This was great! I love the sound of the erhu, it's so haunting and beautiful.

  • I bought a erhu in Tianjin for fun in 2006 for only ¥10 in the street :-)

  • @killerwhales90210

No this is not on Eriquan Pond, But is most definitely beautiful! :)

  • Is that a hammered dulcimer?

  • Who the heck are the top comments directed out? Oh nevermind, I don't even care. I'm just going to say; the woman does look a bit nervous, but not "scared"--just the nerves of any performer and possibly just the result of her own facial features combined with concentration. Also the man's haircut makes me think of Snape and it amuses me.

But more importantly, this is absolutely amazing. I adore the erhu, and this is definitely a beautiful example of it and its accompanying instrument.

  • Sad that the audio quality of the recording was poor. I'm sure if you were sitting there it would be breathtaking.

  • in chinese we have a phrase called "mining human resources" which is exactly what china is doing right now. They want to attract as much academic/creative talent to their country as possible. no way they would kill a master musician over a mistake.

What they are doing nowadays are things like free housing in a gated community, ridiculously high salary, free top notch medical care, etc. Thats pretty much their plan for overtaking the US as a political and cultural influence

  • I love this music, and i respect the talent, i just think it would be funny if someone made a spoof of this - when he makes a mistake the Chinese government soldiers come in and shoot him in the face. (you will only understand this comment if you read the last few pages of comments)

  • 2:40 , what the fuck was he thinking. For a master of music instrument and composition he sure has had its best time a long while ago...

  • issit just me or does anyone else think that erhu is only for sad cry your heart out songs? has anyone play some cheerful music using an erhu? btw i love sad songs just curious thats all

  • La tuya que salta y puya! (porcia)

  • @devilhunterred lolz youtube is blocked in mainland china XD screw censorship I'm glad I'm in taiwan.. but really... i don't think the commies have been killing off musicians just because of a tiny slip on stage.. unless they're performing to some really important person like other presidents or something >.>

  • @TYLTsuna You are right, in the past during the brain meltdown of culture revolution perhaps musicians got a bullet in their head from just playing a traditional instrument. But today no, that's reserved for people speaking their mind =). I am also glad I am in Taiwan!.

  • @TYLTsuna still same people.even taiwan is not part of china.

  • look at professor severus snape on that erhu!

  • i can play this with my teeth.

  • My heart calms down, no fear, no sadness just peace and happiness.... Thanks shaung1023 :)

  • Sometimes when I listen to this kind of music I imagine myself sipping tea and playing weiqi (go as its more commonly known) with some old guy in a garden/park while musicians around us are playing their instruments. Ah, that would be so relaxing. :) If I ever visit east asia, putting that on my list of things to do is a must.

  • @killerwhales90210

You ear is very good. This is Moon Shined on Erquan Pond. It is the traditional version of the song as it was first originally played. It is a piece of music that is heavily studied as apart of the Chinese Philharmonic Curriculum.

  • @DragonOne1 LOL. since you got it wrong I guess that mean's that your ear is very bad!

  • beautiful song

  • . I am in awe of the versatility of this ancient instrument and its music it is moving and expressive

  • Chinese instruments sound great, haunting but great.

  • I hope the girl is ok. god bless her.

  • correct me if im wrong but i think the chinese guy looks a lot like a chinese version of serverus snape. 0_o

  • @squish200

    BULLSHIT!! fivehundred points from griffyndor

  • @squish200 LOL.

  • i'd like to hear them to play together with the chieftains; am i crazy?

  • beutiful, just beutiful

  • VERY RELAXING SONG! Xie Xie....

  • Because of this video i got my self an erhu and

i been playing everyday trying to get better

all you need is time and love to music

  • @iceman91010 How has it been going? Did you have other musical experience before? I too have fallen in love with Erhu but not sure if it will be too hard to learn without a teacher. Thanks.

  • A refreshing change from the youtube stereotype that all erhu players are unreasonably attractive women.

  • truely amazing!!!

  • Thanks for sharing this master musician music with us on your tube this performance is amazing great music full of soul and depth. Bless who ever shared this music with the public.

  • Doesn't that guy look like the asian version of Gene Simmons.

  • @ExodusWinter HAHA

  • 蕭白鏞 認真好嘢 !! 真係實至名歸

  • so percise

  • my secondary 1 classmate plays the yang qin too! grade 8:)

  • @rpywcpsch AND one has dip in erhu--

    THEY'RE BOTH AWESOME!

  • No. This is another piece from the same composer.

The name is -----THE MELODY OF COLD SPRING WIND.

  • @shaung1023 Would u include the piece name in the vid title?

  • @shaung1023 Hey do you know of a song where the performer makes his(I think) instrument sound like a horse? I'm pretty sure it's actually an Igil tune but I'm not positive, could be Erhu.

  • @shaung1023 same composer as er quan ying yue? o.o, i dont know if this song was made by him but "moon on the erquan pond" was a song composed by Abing

  • What's that other instrument being played besides the erhu? It sounds really good too!

  • Oh... the name of it is Yang-Chin.

  • @gungnir2357 it's called a hammer dulcimer

  • Oh, I like the sound of it very much! This might have been asked before, but what's the name of the instrument the woman plays?

  • it's called a "guzheng"

  • It is not Guzheng. Is is Yangqin.

  • In Chinese, the instrument played by the lady is called "Yang Qin".

  • He's very good!

  • i love erhu it's sprit time machine !!!)))))

  • msilu...

  • i wish my computer was a little better, i can't see any chinese alphabet its all just squares

  • what a beatiful video!!! I want one of those...

but it's precious... I mean is a magical experiencie

  • yes. it's rare to see such a video!! He is a master of ERHU.

  • oh... you think too much... that's how she looks like.

  • Scared? Obviously you haven't seen a lot of people with the look of concentration lmao She looks nothing like as if she is scared at all. Maybe on your retro monitor she might, and I guess the Master looks like Jackie Chan too? lol

  • Think whatever you like. Not my business at all. You are the one seeing her is scared...

  • Obviously you don't read other peoples comments, as I was commenting on what MattTheSinger1 had commented about. And I did say, and I quote myself, "She looks nothing like as if she is scared at all." So therefore I don't see her being scared.

  • Enjoy whatever you like to think or feel. It is the way.

  • indeed. some enjoy stress, some enjoy running from.

  • @Krowzak

haha she's obviously reading the composition while keeping an eye on the Yang-chin

  • @Krowzak now that you mention it... he kind of does...

  • @Krowzak or the person that said that she seemed scared is at a cultural disadvantage. Never having been associated with people outside their own geographic location... in effect inadvertent racism ("they all look the same to me" is a common phrase with these people)

  • @MrDontbeamoron Umm I wasn't the one said that she seemed scared, I was actually defending her :P

  • @Krowzak to be fair, he kind of does look like Jackie Chan XD

  • Are you a retard?

Please show me sources where it proves that the Chinese government have musicians killed when they commit a mistake in their performance.

Or else, shut the fuck up.

  • relax...

  • They might have done that during the time of Mao Tse Tung (I don't know for sure but it's possible seeing as how Mao was a maniac), but it's highly doubtful it would happen today. Traditional chinese arts and music are making a comeback after the repression earlier in the 1900's.

  • @devilhunterred FUCK china!!!!! VIVA Hong Kong and Taiwan !!!!!!!! we fight for the Freedom

  • @devilhunterred Well done for saying this. I know the Chinese government can be very wrong but taking it this far? I doubt it.

  • @devilhunterred haha. it's true. my friend played professional dizi in China and his friend (erhu) was killed after playing a slightly mistuned erhu at a state function. shortly after my friend told me about it he disappeared...I can only assume that the Chinese government killed him too :(

  • @CriterionCoIIection I also have a friend who played professional violin in France and his friend disappeared after having a bad performance in Paris in New Year's Eve. Does that mean French government kills musicians?

  • @devilhunterred ok...if the French government was known for it's draconian punishments and frequent executions. and if the french government had killed 50 million+ of it's own people in the last decades. and if they were under suspicion of killing other musicians who had messed up. and if your friend was playing violin for the french president when he messed up. and then he disappeared after the bad performance. then yes, the french government most likely kills musicians.

  • Comment removed

  • @CriterionCoIIection Please show me credible historical sources that prove that CCP has killed over 50 million of its own people in the last decade. You obviously have absolutely no understanding of the Great Leap Forward, Hundred Flowers and the Cultural Revolution, because none of them occurred in the last decade, and the death toll was nowhere near 50 million. And please show me sources that say that CCP kill its own musicians.

Come back and talk to me when you found them. Until then, STFU.

  • @devilhunterred I said decades, not decade...and I recommend the book "Hungry Ghosts" by Jasper Becker. The death toll exceeds 50 million. Also, I can't show you a direct source that the CCP kills its own musicians as they're all DEAD!

  • @CriterionCoIIection Jasper Becker is a journalist, not a historian, therefore the book he wrote is NOT a scholarly academic work, and therefore cannot be accepted as a credible information source. I have studied Chinese history for years, and I will say it again: The Chinese death toll under CCP does not exceed 50 million. The largest disaster in modern China was the Great Famine, which 30 million died, care to explain where did the other 20 million come from?

  • @CriterionCoIIection That's utterly idiotic. Then how exactly would you know they were murdered? SOMONE must of seen something, heard something, or leaked something if they were systematically murdered. Those musicians had families, friends, fans. According to your retarded logic, all disappearances = murdered? How about you give me the names of all the Chinese musicians who had disappeared? And show me which newspaper you got those names from?

  • @devilhunterred lmao dont even respond to that stupidity comment they made. what nonsense.

  • @devilhunterred

sinophobs will always be sinophobs....doesnt matter what government we are under.

  • @crownaq sinophobs are just psychos, dont know how anyone could be a sinophobe

  • @MattTheSinger1 you are very rude
