@TooFlyProductions yea i know that now, i actually saw them in philly a month ago and he kept up really well. He was a little choppy on the bridge in Bareaels Blade, but i mean to kick so much ass with like a month or two of practice is impressive.
Plus he has the sweetest fucking mutton chops i've ever seen
I, as musc lover, have in the stoner rock one of my favourites musical styles. But as a bassist, I worry a lot, for the bass is usually left aside for the guitars, or the tunning is too low for the bass even to be heard. But with The Sword is different. Bryan has a lot of space for improvising, and he is very well heard. This comes from a great music architecture. Well constructed and well played.
I read somewhere that they're always stoned at shows. Either way, this band is so impressive, stoned or not. I dare every guitarist who reads this comment to pick up your guitar and try to sing an play this song. ready... set... go!
I was at this show, awesome -- was the first time I had seen The Sword. Going to see them again at Lola's for the third time this year on Nov. 19th. Making a nice little club stop in between two dates on the Metallica tour.
pure fucking stoner metal right there. this band and clutch are especcially good when you're high. the riffs are not only catchy, but also have that hint of sabbath that every stoner should love.
Does anyone realize how superbly flawless this fucking LIVE performance is? His vocals are nailed 100%... The guitars are fluid and effortless... The drummer is nailing his licks. Fucking nuts.
I am not by nature a Metal kind of guy, but i made a point to get up front for these guys at Bonnaroo, they fucking killed, life changing, ill be seeing these guys again! This is what real metal is all about!
@temporaryonesix yes cuz at the beginning u can hear that he said it was a new song...and when bands make a new song majorty of bands can nail it...like 85 % of bands
well, he isn't a great singer, but live the voice is by far better than on the record! Don't misunderstand, I love the records, even the retro recording sound, which gives it a roughness that fits to the music, but I would like them to spend Denton vocal school lessons ;)
This is my fav song on the new album...along with "how heavy this axe", "to take this black" , "under the boughs", all man all the songs are great. For those who haven't nabbed the album, it comes with an acoustic bonus track :)!
They played this when I saw them last thursday at the camden Underworld, it was fucking fantastic. Well...best gig I've ever been to infact.
If you're going to see the sword, expect to get your face melted. They're gunna be huge in years to come.
And I met them all after the gig! :D Such nice dudes. One of my mates told Kyle that it was really great of them to come out and meet the fans after the show, to which he responded:
damn its good to hear some good music.. i like how the sword is evolving to a more, almost melodic style. it almosts mirrors metallica's evolution. pretty sweet.
drop c @ the song's beginning? badass tune.

Sure, J.D. might sound like Ozzy sometimes, but Ozzy could NEVER sound like J.D. on guitar. Dude shreds and sings.

I think his vocals are some of the best in the genre on the records and live. My favorite aspect of the music are the vocals and their harmonies.
AcrossTheTen 3 years ago 4
I agree he is a great harmonizer. Harmony is something alot of Metal lacks. People give him a break. He's the fucking lead guitarist and singer.
