this is the combination of classical ballet and modern dance. interesting idea but might not get into main stream easily. there'll be stubbon people insisting on classical ballet and liberal people who view ballet outdated. frankly, ballet is the entertainment for royal people who couldn't watch tv nor movies to kill time centuries ago.

Why anyone attempts to choreograph Carmen after Roland Petit's is beyond me. Perfection, style, sizzle, drama, his version has it all. Try to find the full-length version with the incomparable Zizi Jeanmaire and Baryshnikov and you'll see what I mean. Petit's style, while being very particular, still seems fresh and cunning even after 40 years, well, almost 50! I only wish that more companies around the world had the chance to dance this ballet... A true treasure of French culture.
